I've used Powers for a while now, guessing 6 or 7 servicing of my generator. The servicing has always been good, as machine runs well. But their pricing has gone through the roof, I haven't checked others yet. But $499 for a less than 1 hr service, oil change and filter clean, (based on their schedule not a call out). I thought this was high and still do, I know it has continually gone up. But once I emailed them questioning the high rates, I got a very patronizing email in return. Would have given a 2.5 middle of the road, but lean towards the 3 rating available. read more

Incredibly satisfied with Powers. From the estimate to installation their employees are informative and reliable. Our full house generator provides us peace of mind that no matter the reason if we lose power we have zero concerns. The reason we chose to get a generator is because my mother in law lives with us full time and requires 24 oxygen supply. Since our installation we have had 3 power outages, within 5 seconds of losing power the generator takes over. No worries, and when the power comes back, it is a smooth transition that we don't even realize. They know what they are doing but you will pay for it and then some! I just had them out since our generator was not working properly. Tech was knowledgeable and fixed the problem with in an hour...$120 for his time PLUS a $220 for Travel labor PLUS a $90 Travel fee...so I'm out $432. read more

The news here is that a service visit to repair a possible problem will cost you a minimum flat fee of $400 PLUS labor (at $100/hr) plus parts. Any visit for anything before labor and parts costs $400. The tech is at your house for one hour? $500. Find me one other business that has a flat fee exclusive of labor at $400. read more

After a power outage in which a pipe froze and broke very expensively, I hired Powers to install a generator for about $23,000. They failed to show up and install it month after month during the entire winter season when power outages were a concern. After installation, they charge for periodic service, for guaranteed power, for guaranteed fuel...Even after paying for all these guarantees, when some minor malfunction turned it off, they charged me $98.00 for labor (about two minutes to reset one knob) plus, unbelievably, $90.00 for travel. They are competent but they are also ripoff artists. Once they have you hooked, they just keep draining your wallet. read more
