I rarely leave store reviews, but my experience here was genuinely underwhelming. I came in to try on walking shoes, as Prada is known for comfortable luxury footwear. The store is beautiful and reminds me of a huge skate arena. I spent quite a while browsing, making eye contact with several sales associates who weren't busy, yet no one offered to assist me. Eventually, I approached someone and asked for help. They were kind, professional, and genuinely helpful -- the only bright spot in the experience. They introduced themselves as "Courtney Love", I believe one of the store managers. We chatted about NYC, food, and theater while I tried on a few styles. Unfortunately, they didn't have my size. Courtney then introduced me to another associate (I didn't catch the name) who was supposed to assist further. As I asked a question about another pair of shoes, I noticed this associate walked over to Courtney and whispered something. I clearly heard him say, "She is done," and then proceed to put the shoes away. His body language -- dismissive and impatient -- further implied that I wasn't a serious buyer. Quite rude, to say the least. To be clear, this review reflects poorly on the store culture and certain staff, not "Courtney Love", who was lovely and professional throughout. If you pay over 1 grand for a pair of walking sandals or sneakers, you better get perfection in customer service. read more

I was helped by Carlos and am so turned off by my experience of my first time purchase at Prada. So you think when you are paying $600 for a pair of plastic frames, the sales associate could put a little effort into the experience. The quality and level of sophistication from the customer experience is lacking. This was a big deal purchase for me to make, the whole experience was just so disappointing. I would much rather shop on their website if I were to buy again the future, than experience the "I don't have time for this" attitude the associates give you at this store. This store is beautiful because it used to be the original Guggenheim museum. Sales associate Ashley Garcia immediately helped us once we walked into the store and was so friendly and helpful. I liked how she never pressured us but was super helpful when we were looking for certain bags. She was so right about how her store would have more selections than a department store because they carry "boutique only" items. This store has all of the latest items that are so hard to find back home in California. EXCELLENT customer service! read more

Just want to give a brief update. I placed an order over the phone for 2 water bottles (yes, they have them). They arrived quickly and were beautifully wrapped. This is my favorite Prada location! This review is on behalf of my husband. We went to Prada in SoHo the weekend before Christmas. I know. I'm crazy. I own many Prada's but I've never been to this location before. As I was waking around, my husband was secretly buying me a bag. The sales associate quickly helped him with the transaction. She was a great help. He was even able to put it in the car before I got back from downstairs. It was a beautiful Christmas present. The staff was very friendly but not overbearing. The store is beautiful and they have items that I've never seen before such as pens and water bottles. It's my new favorite store. I will be back. By the way, I LOVE the new shopping bags. The store is locked and a security guard has to let you in -- I get it, retail theft is a thing, but it was 4:45 p.m. on a Wednesday, the store was not busy. I finally get an SA and ask him about a specific bag; the fact I already had one in mind should show I have intent to purchase. He looks at me like I'm crazy and he's confused, so I show him a picture on my phone. He rolls his eyes and says they don't have it anymore. I say "that's weird, the website says you do." He asks to look it up and says "I guess we do have it." Not only do they have it, they have plenty. He hands me the bag and stares. I have an SA in my hometown, I know Prada SAs are supposed to build rapport. I just wanted a quintessential Soho shopping experience. So I set the bag down on the counter and walk out. The bag was on the less expensive side, but why would you not be kind and respectful and strike up a conversation? Make the experience pleasant? I'm not giving a cent of commission to someone who seems bothered to interact with me. I'll just buy the bag with my SA in San Diego. read more

Prada Broadway is the ultimate theme park of high-end boutiques. You can clearly tell how pathetic I am when one of my goals in life is to zoom down that huge wavy slide made of zebrawood and not get arrested/banned from Prada (not that I would be buying here every other month anyway, unless I hit it big). I had purchased one of the least expensive items here at the time, back when Prada decided to test the waters with their unique skincare design. Minimalistic like their Rem Koolhaus-designed epicenters, this limited line had everything from toners to lip balm in individual containers, which were supposed to be used within one application-monodoses-to ensure freshness, although you could make it last longer than one usage. Valerie was my sweet sales girl, and she let me be as I tried on clothing just so I could utilize their kick-ass fitting rooms, which were on a slight delay so you could quickly turn to and fro to see what the back looked like. It was just me in the giant round elevator, as most people opted to take those steps and check everything out from there. My advice would be to take the elevator down and the steps up, but that could be since I'm clumsy. The watches were creatively displayed suspended from the ceiling in a chain-link motif, and although there was a sign that clearly said not to touch, there was an associate on standby who pretty much had to repeat herself by saying, 'please don't touch the display.' I was probably guilty. Although it's been quite some time since my last visit, I'm sure it sustains the same awe-inspired feeling of being in a contemporary museum, with all the (wearable) art available for purchase. read more

I brought my $3000 + bag and now a collectors limited addition item to be repaired January 15 it is now July with no follow up, poor to little commutation and the worst customer service I have ever encountered. If you think products from Prada is expensive, wait until you step foot into their actually store on Broadway. My friend and I decided to walk in here on a Friday night and not only did we step foot into a store, we seriously believe we step foot into the future! I was completely blown away by the interior designed and after visiting Prada; I decided to do a little research and learned that this 23,000-square-foot store cost a whopping $40 million to erect. This means that each square foot cost the company about $1,750.00 to built. I don't know about you, but for me, that's a lot of money! Previously a Guggenheim Museum, this store was designed by Dutch modernist Rem Koolhaas. Well lite and infused with zebrawooden décor, this store looked like a scene that you'll find in, The Jetsons. Its main iris was the "wave" which resembles an opened skate board inspired drop that took me straight down to their lower level, visually. As an added addition their seamlessly modern glass elevator was impressive. Despite it only transporting from the upper level to the lower level, this circular elevator was controlled by a pump from the bottom which provide a smooth panoramic ride. Another impressive feature to point out was their super high tech dressing room. With a touch of a button, these translucent sliding glass doors will turn opaque with a touch of a button when occupied. While it's visible to look out from the inside, it's opaque from the outside just like a two way mirror. Best of all, instead of the traditional three-way mirror, it is equipped with a large video panels that replace the traditional three-sided mirror with live cam shots of your back and sides. Lastly, you will never see a cash register in site as they consider unattractive. To avoid the awkward currency transaction, they simply ask you for your credit card, bring your merchandize into a room, package it and will present it to you with a pen and a receipt to sign. With all that said, this Prada Flagship Store definitely outshined itself, not only with its merchandize but more with their actual hi-tech store and concept. It gets 4 stars because the people who work there are A*SHOLES. You're not allowed to take pictures in here but they have fantastic displays. The slide display changes seasonally I think. It's very arty and anyone with a camera would want to get a picture of it. Take the glass elevator up and down a flight. It's huuuuuge inside and you can sit in it for 3 minutes because that's how long it takes to go a flight up/down. Take lots of pictures in it because no one can come and stop you. read more

I'm a straightforward shopper. I don't browse or windowshop; when I want something, I think it over carefully and then buy it. Most of my leather goods are Prada--wallet, shoes, etc. I visited the Prada accessories store for the first time today, (Weds September 5) in the early evening. I had a specific bag in mind. When I entered, the two salespeople (a man and woman) were chatting with each other and ignored my greeting. I smiled and explained what I was looking for. The man brought me a bag. When I asked if he thought it would fit over my shoulder, he said, "You're thin, but not THAT thin." This struck me as...inappropriate. I asked if he had any other recommendations and he shrugged and said, "Nothing." When I mentioned that I'd pre-ordered a Prada wallet and was curious if there was a bag to match, he said they "might be getting one in a hobo" but he wasn't sure. Utterly unhelpful. I said thanks and left. Incredibly shitty service for such a quality brand. Get rid of this guy--or implement some new employee training, stat. Either way, I won't be back. read more

First of all, I love PRADA as a brand. The store itself is beautiful and can be considered as one of the NYC's monumental architectural piece of art... Seriously, you can't be making more than the person spending $1500 on a beautiful leather bag that's practically feeding your "I'm stuck up and can't smile pills" paychecks. I came here few times to buy either a bag/shoes/ just simply to look around and always walked out empty handed. Not because I didn't have the $ but because they were so rude and un-pleasant I just lost all appetite for spending m $ in there. ( I now go to Bloomy or Saks for that) I asked them questions, they act like they don't know. If you don't know, at least try to seek help from your manager or someone that's competent enough. Still no, they just stand there by the door looking like they want to kill themselves. Why do you work at a place where you look like you want to kill yourself? It's not attractive especially next to those beautiful mary janes and brogues that are getting all the attention. I hate writing negative reviews, but it was a must. I hope PRADA hires some decent people that can at least smile once in awhile. IF I could give zero stars, I would. I had the most deplorable experience at Prada today and the customer service was beyond insulting and combative. A few weeks ago I was taking my children to school when, not 5 minutes from home, my right sandal separated from the platform sole and I was hobbled. I managed to hop over to a repair shop on the next block and the cobbler told me the sandal had disintegrated from the inside and that they would glue it but it would likely not hold. It didn't. I only made it a few more steps. I hobbled the rest of the way to the school and to my office nearby. Today I took the sandals for repair. The thing is, I had only just picked up the sandals for a repair to the left sandal. A repair that Prada had charged to me because the sandals were more than 5 years old. Literally the first time I wore the sandals after the left shoe had been repaired by Prada the right shoe fell apart. This time, a manager was called who immediately took a combative tone and even her body language was hostile. I explained the situation and she said by policy Prada refuses to repair shoes that have been altered by anyone else. I said I understood. But then i asked whether I could be reimbursed for the useless repair to the left sandal, since I now had only 1 wearable shoe. She said I had asked for the left shoe to be repaired and that's what Prada had done. But, I pointed out that obviously the left shoe had disintegrated from the inside, which was why my foot was sinking with every step until finally the platform frame cracked. I thought the cracked platform was the problem, but clearly it was only the outward sign of the real problem, which is that the foam inside the platform disintegrates over time. Since both shoes were worn the same and stored the same, obviously, if the left shoe platform had disintegrated from the inside, the right shoe would be in a similar state. Why charge me for a repair to one shoe and not even explain to me what was wrong and what I could expect? Again she told me I only asked for one shoe to be repaired. And I said, I am not a shoe expert, I am only a wearer of shoes. They are the experts and they charged me for a needless repair! But I only asked for one shoe to be repaired, she repeated again. I know, I said, but I have 2 feet and they only sell their shoes in pairs! We are done here, she said. I agreed. Yes, we are done here. I am appalled by the obnoxious behavior of the manager and the poor service. Either stand by your work or don't waste my time and money. read more

If you are shopping in New York City buy your Prada at Bergdorf Goodman, Saks 5 Avenue, or Neiman Marcus, instead of a Prada store and anywhere but the Soho location - The prices at the department stores may be a little lower and reflect Internet pricing accurately. At the Prada in Soho, I actually witnessed a sales associate erase a price and mark in a higher number on the tag right in front of me. They also have pretty nebulous exchange police. I tried to exchange a smaller wallet the next day for a more expensive one in a different color and they told me the new much more expensive wallet was a final sale. The manager informed me that the details are on the back of my receipt. I did not have my reading glasses but when I got home and was able to see, it turned out this was a pure fabrication. Zoo. That's what comes to mind when I think of this over-designed, over-priced and over-hyped temple to self-indulgence. Yes, I know uber-cool Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas was behind this striking retail design but it's just too big and impersonal to come and feel good about spending any money here. This is a good sized space for a Gap or something like that. When you're blowing $400+ on shoes, shirts or luggage, you want to feel coddled and appreciated and that doesn't happen here. Why? Too many tourists who come in from both the Mercer and Broadway entrances to 'check out' the design. The place can be teeming with people - especially on weekends - and the overall affect is to head for the doors screaming. Sure it's a showcase, but a showcase for anarchistic shopping mayhem. To get to the female section you have to go down a huge flight of these god awful steep, slippery as hell hardwood stairs that make me feel like I'm going fall flat on my face. And to make it even more challenging, they sometimes stick manequins right next to the walkway. As if I really need another obstacle to get down in one piece. Am I just ungraceful? Maybe. But can't a girl wear stilettos when shopping? Sure they have a banister, but I AM NOT touching something that hundreds of people touch. Not that I'm an anal retentive germaphobe but there are a lot of people (especially females) who don't wash their hands after they go to the bathroom. note: hand sanitizers aren't effective AND THEN!! The clothes display is a maze with mirrors everywhere -- it reminds me of a fun house. The purse and shoe section is so dark and so secluded, it's like the backroom of a secret society. The sales lady told me that if I didn't like them, I could bring them back as long as I had my receipt and they were not worn. WRONG INFORMATION. You can bring them back, within 10 days, and only to exchange for something of equal or GREATER value. Just another reason to buy designer merchandise from a department store. A lot of reviews mention nothing more than the building itself...which is expected for something designed by Rem Koolhaus. Too bad the one in San Francisco did not make it past the initial phases because I am sure it would have blown the Soho Prada out the waters. Be weary as you walk down the steps to the lower level if you aren't afraid to fall on your face otherwise the elevator is your best friend. The men stationed at the Men's department were not very receptive or helpful even though the store was empty -- I had to make eye contact and say something to get service. They're taking that "not pushy" sales tactic to a whole new level but honey, puh-leeze, it's tiring. I'm afraid their men's shoe collection is a bit stale. The shoe line has changed little over the years (same old Americas cup sneakers with tiny variations in color and material, with maybe the more recent addition of converse style shoes). But it's still Prada. The quality, detail, and workmanship is still there especially in the leathers, and their design is still somehow unique after all these years of others trying to copy them. read more
