I sent in a beautiful vintage purse to have the strap repaired from a recommendation from FashioNica. They gave me a list of options from touching up the leather to a full new strap. The whole process was fairly quick for having to ship my purse across the country. When I received the purse back however it had some discoloring on it that wasn't there before. Jim's team was contacted and paid to have the purse shipped back and forth and again and fixed the issue immediately. Weird place. First it took forever to find this place. I entered and could not get any one's attention. I approached on of the cobblers and mentioned I wanted a half sole topy for my new leather shoes. They did not understand me and kept saying "shoe shine?". Finally some salesperson approached me and said "what happened?". I said I wanted a half sole topy. They said I need to drop it off and it's $60, then waltzed away. Please don't send your bags here for repairs/refurbishment. It took 6 weeks the first time I sent my bag in. The bag came back worse than I sent it. Whatever they sprayed on it to touch up the color was stiff and sticky. They offered to strip whatever color they put on. That took another 4 weeks. They only stripped off half the spray paint, but also managed to scratch all of the hardware as well. I asked for a refund. I gave not heard back from them other than texts stating they tried to reach me, but were unsuccessful. Every time I call back, I am on hold for 20 plus minutes. At this point, they can keep the money they charged to ruin my bag, but you can bet I will be leaving reviews everywhere I can to warn others. read more

I stopped by with an old LV Neverfull bag with torn lining and was quoted $400. Vince's had quoted me $200 so they tried to match but couldn't. If I cared more about the bag I might have still gone with them, but given how old the bag is and that I was honestly about to toss/donate it, I opted to go with Vince's. When my favorite McQueen bag's lining began to fall apart, I started researching where to get it repaired. My local shoe repair guy in MI who has performed wonders on my shoes and fixing minor issues with my bag, could not repair the lining. I called the McQueen store in NYC to ask if they could repair it but since I bought it at Saks they said no but gave me recommendations on who could help in NYC. As I happened to be in NYC the next month, I made a trip in person to Jim's Shoe Repair to get an estimate on the repair. Please note this was strictly a ballpark quote based on a quick eyeball of the lining. I returned home to MI to figure out what to do and ultimately decided to ship the bag to Jim's and about 1 1/2 months later, the lining has been repaired and I am extremely happy with the work. A few things to note. Once I sent in my bag, the shop did an evaluation of what needed to be repaired plus some other recommendations. I was emailed an "order" to review and confirm the recommended repairs. I did not need some of the extra repairs so I emailed back and requested an updated order less a few repairs. Once we agreed on what was to be repaired, the Cobbler Concierge sent me a shipping label. I ultimately used my FedEx account to ship my bag. I was pleased with the amount of communication between me and the Cobbler Concierge (both email/text). My bag was sent back to me in a nice big box, with a dust bag and also a reusable shopping bag. The ballpark quote I received in person at the store was not far off from the actual amount that I ended up paying for my repairs. I will definitely use Jim's for any future repairs for my designer bags. read more

While they did a good job on my repair, I'm only giving them 3 stars as I feel like their customer service could use improvements. I first wanted to get a quote to see how much my repair would cost, so they gave me a quote and instantly sent me a shipping label to ship my item over without me agreeing to the quote. I thought, what the heck, I've heard really good things about this company so I'll trust them with my repair. While they were really good at updating when they received my shoes and when it was shipped off, I wish the process timeline was a bit more blatant. My overall estimate once they received my shoes ended up being around $150 (srsly would have been cheaper to buy new shoes than getting it repaired) since they didn't disclose theres a $25 fee for shipping my shoes back to me, they added a water repellent spray that I did not ask for and additional cost to get it cleaned. I told them I just needed the soles fixed, which they did beautifully. read more

I've been extremely pleased with the service from Cobbler Concierge. I've tried local cobblers before, but they weren't able to remove the stain on my shoes. As a medical professional, I work with certain substances that can leave nearly impossible-to-remove marks on leather--but Cobbler Concierge handled it impressively. Their mail-in process is very convenient, and they also suggest additional services that truly add value and longevity to your shoes. The work they do is barely minimal. I sent in a bag and paid 1000 dollars to get it cleaned up and the structure fixed. They told me they could fix the sides that were misshaped. Once getting the bag back it looked the exact same. They are not worth it at all. Send it to leather surgeons instead. Shoes they are mediocre at. They said they could fix some discoloration on a pair of sneakers and couldn't. They over promise and don't deliver at all. I would not recommend. read more

Tiny little hut in the Hudson Yards mall that is apparently a branch of a well-known and established UES shoe repair shop. They are a bit pricey but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. I splurged for a nice pair of suede shoes on a recent trip to Europe, and something in the baggage hold must have leaked onto my luggage--had an oily stain on some clothes and one new shoe. Tried to clean on my own and bring to a local spot to no avail; brought it here and they worked their magic--my Bugattis are as good as new. Brought another pair here for a full sole repair, also spot on. Repairs do take time (approx 2 weeks in my case) but, again, can't quibble with results. Staff here is friendly and helpful and clearly proud of the business/instill confidence that work will be top notch. Plus you can pop in any time for a quick, excellent and reasonably-priced shoeshine! read more

I used Cobbler Concierge for a Louis Vuitton repair based on the positive reviews; however, I did not have a great experience. After receiving an after photo from the shop, I flagged that I was concerned that work had not been completed on cleaning up the monogram. Instead of responding to my concerns, they sent the bag back to me. While the team did a good job on repairing the cracked leather, they didn't clean the monogram. I feel like I paid a premium price to not receive the service I asked for. Poor communication, poor job. Here's photos of the bag from January and then from today (March). Very bad customer service, I paid $85 for them to ruin my newly purchased Loro Piana sand color shoe, which few stains. While they cleaned the stain, they damaged to quality of the shoe suede, the edges of my shoe were bent badly and got to wide for my feet, I can't wear it any more, it looks ugly, faded and slips of my feet. I showed the owner the obvious before and after condition of my new shoes and shockingly he said: " I don't need to heat this, give her $45 back" So so disappointing and ugly service. read more

I was very disappointed with Jim's Shoe Repair. Not only did they keep my shoes for almost 3 months, but also rushed the repair after I called several times for the status. Unfortunately I would not recommend them. There are much better cobblers to patronize. While they may provide better service for their local patrons, I definitely would not recommend anyone outside New York. The response team is very rude and lack customer service skills. They are over priced hype who over promises and under delivers. Don't be fooled by the razzle dazzle of their social media presence. The patriarch of the place, Joe(Jim's son), went above and beyond to repair my decrepit 40 year old baseball glove. Needed it fixed up to play catch with my son. Joe is the only person I know in the city who will go out of his way to do this. He charged me an extremely reasonable fee and then, when the glove needed further repair, he sent it to a specialist FOR FREE. This never happens, particularly in NYC. I know this is a special and sentimental case but I think places like Jim's, and people like Joe, should be lauded and appreciated for providing a personal touch to their customer service. I had a not so cheap TravelPro wheeled carryon that needed some repairs to the handles. At first I had thought about buying a new carryon and tossing my old bag in the trash, but instead I decided to get my old bag repaired. As I was going to be in NYC for a vacation I started to do some research on luggage repair shops there and came across Jim's. I did however find out that I could not just drop off my bag while in the city and pick it up in a few days. Instead I had to ship my bag there and they would ship it back to me after the repairs were completed. That being said I am happy with the repair they completed and glad that I did not just toss it in the trash. read more

Sadly, Jim's repair service seems to have declined pretty badly as they've expanded. Half the time I texted or called I got no reply back, and communications were largely surly, impatient and rushed. Three out of three items I left last fall all had problems. The worst was ruining a beloved pair of boots by replacing the sole entirely with different material (without asking me) and creating a very flat arch so the boots were unwearable and looked completely different. Since they threw away the original sole, they had no reference to rebuild the boot, so they offered to do it according to photographs I provided. A couple of months later, the arch of the boot was barely changed, items they agreed to fix were not, and they inexplicably shined a flat rubber detail which made it look like plastic. Exhausted by the whole process, I asked for a refund and left the boots behind, chalking Jim's up as a loss and a lesson learned. So although they say they will "fix it until I am happy with it", that process is arduous and time-consuming due to their lack of focus, poor communication and mediocre results.. Really bummed. I used their shipping label to send 2 rare vintage designer shoes worth $1,000+ Their shipping partner lost them, but because I wasn't the direct account holder, I was shut out of the investigation process. I had to call and text multiple times just to get updates, and instead of real help, I was met with delays, excuses, and even RUDENESS!!! At one point, person on the phone called CJ told me he "didn't understand English" and hung up on me--an unacceptable and discriminatory response. Until today, my shoes are gone and I have received 0 compensation. If something goes wrong, Cobbler Concierge are not willing to take responsibility.
