Like all businesses today suffering from a shortage of labor, also faces those challenges. Aside from that, the staff was friendly and courteous. The facility had numerous activities, the last one we attended was the Christmas celebration. There was food, music and entertainment, many families were present. The residents and family had a wonderful time. My mother in law recently passed away, she was in hospice in her apartment at the Bickford. The Christmas celebration and seeing her smile and enjoying herself is a fond memory of her time at the Bickford. We were always confident that she was safe and secure and recommended their services.

They make sure to update you on everything going on with your family member that lives there. They have such neat outings for the residents there and before Covid happened you were allowed to partake in the fun activities with your loved one. They have fun activities all day long to keep the residents active. All the caregivers, nurses and staff know you by name and always make sure that you're a part of everything going on there. I can't truly thank the Staff enough for making the emotional process of placing my dad in a memory care home an easier one. They are with you every step of the way. I highly recommend the Arden Courts Geneva. They also do a lot of great volunteer work within the community to help with charities. My dad really enjoys this place. They recently just remodeled it so it looks really nice inside and always is super clean. My dad has lived there five months now ( in 2021) this was one of the best decisions for our family. They abide by all the Covid restriction laws to make sure the residents there are kept safe and healthy. My dad loves the food there too. They even have a comfort dog named Mia there. My dad enjoys seeing her. Thank you again to all the staff that works there.

These two women held my hands, dried my tears and help to guide me through this very scary and unfamiliar journey. In early Feb 2019, I was suddenly facing the fact that we need to move a loved one from Texas to Illinois; who was showing advancing signs of memory loss/dementia. Dennis, 72 years old, needed to be in a safe place to live, with doctors and caregivers to watch over him and see that he took his prescribed medicines and was provided 3 good meals every day, which he was no longer able to do on his own. The caregivers at Arden Courts are kind, compassionate and so very patient with these residents who have been diagnosed with this insidious and sad disease. At Arden Courts it really is possible for a person with a diagnosis of dementia to have a good quality of life. Arden Courts lives up to the promises in their brochure by providing structured, daily activities allowing their residents to socialize and interact with other residents and staff, adding to their quality of daily life. The entire staff, especially Pam, Justine and Nurse Nina have given our family total piece of mind 24/7. Their monthly support group offers a wonderful opportunity for family members and caregivers to know that they are not alone in navigating this journey with their loved ones. We continue to be ever grateful that Arden Courts was there in our time of need and we highly recommend this and their sister facilities for anyone needing care for their family members having memory loss/dementia. Thank you, the family of Dennis G.

Our family has…read moreexperienced four different communities so far and Silverado is a company that does not only design communities for those with memory care needs, but focuses on overall dementia care. There are over 400 types of dementia and Silverado trains their staff in a way to recognize and support these variances instead of training their team to ONLY manage the needs of those with Alzheimer's disease. This approach takes a lot of stress away from primary care givers and family members. Dementia often comes with personality changes and behavior changes that ultimately lead to family members seeking help. We witness the staff gently redirecting our loved one, treating her with dignity, recognizing and celebrating who she was before the disease and who she is now, stimulating her mentally, and generally providing compassionate and loving care. This has a lot to do with the current administration in place and how strong the Silverado St. Charles care team is. The facility is new, beautiful, all on one floor (makes us feel good in case of emergencies), and a calm and peaceful place. Leadership is responsive and communicative with families and they did a great job of explaining their positions and thought behind COVID19 changes to processes and procedures. We as family members felt part of the solution and part of defining what the new normal is for our loved one. My family and I highly recommend Silverado St. Charles if you are looking for a safe and caring community for your loved one where they are treated with respect and dignified.

My 92-year old mother moved into one of their assisted living studios in the fall of 2014. Up until that point, she had lived on her own, so clearly, she wasn't very enthusiastic about the move. She wasn't as engaged in some of the activities as we might have liked, but it wasn't for lack of the staff's teasing encouragement (which she enjoyed). When her health deteriorated a year or so later, she moved into the more intimate memory care wing in a studio almost identical to the one she'd had, where the staff could keep her under watchful eyes. Before long, a hospice crew became part of her care team. As prickly as my mother could be, she was loved by members of the staff. Several of her caregivers wept the day she died and for me, that said it all. Difficult as it was, we had made the right decision. One other thing worth mentioning: it's not a huge community, so if it's important for your loved one to be in a place where everyone knows everyone else, this is a good choice.

"They're supposed to be independent," we were told when Dad asked for help making his bed. RN works 40 hr wk, is not there nights/weekends, she does hands on care like bandages, aides not allowed. When touring and signing contract, family was told all staff are in-house employees but aides are mostly outside agency so rotating strangers were providing care who didn't build any bonds with our Dad. Some were caring and wonderful, some were not. (None were abusive.) "Good" activities like going out for lunch or dinner or anywhere are RARE. On Medicaid? $30 left after cable/phone, you can't go unless family pays. So it's mostly the rich kids clique that gets to go places. A HUGE positive is Medicaid residents still get/keep their private rooms, not forced to share a room, and receive exact services and care as the cash payers. Cash pay starts at $5K+/mo for a studio. Our big problem and why we moved Dad out recently- LACK OF PROMISED CARE/ACTIVITIES. We were treated like complainers by apathetic Administrator when we pointed out specific items in Dad's contract not being done. No idea if our issues were ever discussed with nursing director or activity manager but they were never corrected. Dad didn't get twice/week shower, aides spent under 10 mins/day interacting with him, some complained LOUDLY if he'd buzz for a little help standing up from toilet. To their credit, we thought staffing was bare minimum and know CNA turnover is high. Maybe treat them better and pay them more to retain staff? Care was rushed. Calendar activities are a joke, shows many daily options but most are lame worksheets left on door to be done alone. Contract states care and activity plan SPECIFIC to Dad's needs would be written up and followed, which never happened. We were promised (and paying for) stimulating activities and a social life for Dad. He could sit home alone and do nothing for free. He's just a little slow getting around but wanted friends and things to do! Activity woman snippy and defensive when asked about activity plan, would also evade us when we visited. Food is average institutional food, nothing special. The rooms and bathrooms are large and the outside grounds are very nice. We are still waiting on partial month refund almost 3 months after moving Dad out so some issues with the office which they say corporate does the refunds. Heritage Woods of Yorkville is far from terrible but did not come close to meeting our expectations to keep Dad busy and engaged.

My family member was there for some physical therapy which the staff never"pushed" a patient to do. I think some encouragement would've been helpful. If we needed to get a hold of the facility at times outside of business, you couldn't unless you contacted the local police to go over. My family and I had zero trust in his caregivers/nurses. Although one nurse and one physical therapist were extremely helpful and friendly, Meggi and Melissa. The nurses and caregivers seemed to be scared of their patients. Definitely try to duck out of rooms quickly. Many times when I was there alarms at the top of patient's rooms were going off for 10 to 20 minutes before a nurse went in there. This place was more of a nightmare than anything, definitely one of the worst experiences for our family.
