My grandson went here after his parents pulled him out of the Racine public schools and home schooled him for the rest of that school year. They had moved there from Minnesota where he had attended what was an outstanding public school system, but Racine's lottery selection system prevented him from attending the middle school recommended by his teacher. Despite extra attention from the counselor in the neighborhood school where he was placed, it would be wrong to describe that year as anything other than an unmitigated disaster. Hence the withdrawal. That's how he ended up at Prairie, thanks to a generous partial scholarship where he thrived. They have some fantastic facilities, dedicated staff and an unbelievably high college placement rate. Unfortunately, the fact that the earlier reviewer was not diagnosed with ADHD until much later in life no doubt colored his assessment of his experience. I have another grandchild in another city who has been diagnosed with ADHD since 3rd grade. It's a rough thing to deal with, especially If you hate how the medicine makes you feel and refuse to take it. Being undiagnosed was undoubtedly traumatic, but Prairie is there to educate-not to diagnose, and I'm certain that had he received an earlier diagnosis, Prairie would have worked with his family. read more

It's a great school to prepare the student for college and success!! The teachers are great and have an innovative modern way of teaching. The Prairie School is a family.
