The homes are perfect together. Because the kitchen is huge, we congregate for big meals at Island View Lodge. The large deck accommodates our family of 21 with ease. If a problem does arise, Conger handles it immediately. Catfish Lake is beautiful. We boated, floated, and had a great Warrior Dash on the beautiful grounds over the 4th. I'd say it's best to visit as part of a group. The experience is especially great for kids. The decor is homey, cozy and involves lots of rugs, so if you have allergies, I recommend bringing your allergy meds. The place is really interactive - little dogs in sweaters greeting you as you drive in, pigs available for pets, chickens you can feed, and of course the horses and goats you can visit. The beds were comfy enough, and each room has a different theme (horses, under the sea, etc). It's a quick drive into town, but also great for outdoor activities. We did a bit of bike riding but it was a bit too cold for us to venture onto the water.

Apartment was spacious, kitchen had everything possible you need, same with shower. Windows had amazing views, and we got to enjoy beautiful sunset every night. The best thing about our stay was owners and their animals. The best hosts, accommodating, friendly, went beyond to make us feel comfortable. We enjoyed hanging out with them. And now, their animals! Animals are well taken care of, some of them were rescued. They have chickens, rooster, ducks, 2 pigs, dogs, goats, pony and horses. It was amazing and therapeutic at the same time. Children enjoyed horseback riding. This was truly one of the kind experience, and we can't wait to go back in summer. I highly recommend it!

I was able to sleep in, read, sit on the porch and watch the deer, and wander the area and property taking photographs. For someone who works 7 days a week, this was a wonderful respite and time with nature. The owners were helpful and kind. Read the FAQs, don't expect to be fed a whole lot to do--that's really not the point. I look forward to returning some day to experience what it's like in a different season and explore other roads and little gems in the Driftless.

Our stay at Candlewood cabins was pleasant and restful. We got the Little house next door which is…read moreright next to the house where the owners live. That was a little problem since we couldn't fully relax and play music quietly outside. There weren't a lot of instructions on where to find the remotes to the various electronics including the fan and the wifi did not work at all. The firewood was a bit expensive at 10$ per bundle. It was a small cozy little cottage and the owners made sure it had all the things you might need for a weekend getaway. The cabins are set in the beautiful hilly area of Driftless of Wisconsin and has absolutely stunning views. Might fo back to try a different cabin.
