I was stunned at the quality of the furniture, paintings, books, throw pillows and accents all throughout the store. Particularly when considering the pricing which was very reasonable. Because each item is on consignment, one must stop by often and see what is new. They simply don't have a warehouse full of the same item. Each item is unique. The best part is the mission! New Leaf uses the profits to fund Ridge Church which currently meets at Wetumpka High School.

It's not where you go for the new bestseller that's hot off the press. It's more of a see-what-you-can-find place. Every once in a while you will find something special for an insanely low price. I can walk out with several books under $10 total. It's very crowded with boxes of books and bookshelves to the ceiling all over, but it has a sort of cozy, old feeling. The workers are very kind and helpful. This is a bargain bookstore with a changing supply, so go in with an open mind and about 30 minutes to kill, and you'll walk out with an armful of books and money in your wallet.

The signs on the store and multiple websites state that the store's hours are 9:30 to 5 Mon-Sat. I came by a few months ago around 4 store closed up lights off everyone gone home no sign on door indicating why they closed early. Today on my attempt to shop here I pulled up saw a closed sign and and 3 employees staring out the window at me like I was cuckoo for trying to shop at 4:00. Frustrated, I emailed to the address on their website indicated for feedback to see if they actually stayed open until 5. I received a quick but terse response from the general manager stating that they closed early for "inclement weather" for the safety of the employees and that it had never happened before today without advance notice. First, what they called "inclement weather" I call rain. Traffic was abundant and none of the surrounding businesses were closing early. Secondly, yes it has happened before and stating that it isn't so is an implication that I'm telling a lie. Not a very nice way to treat a potential customer who rarely gets to shop during the bankers hours that this business keeps. If I were a vendor I'd certainly be asking myself if this business is even keeping the paltry hours that they are supposedly open. Or do they just shut it down every time it rains, the wind blows or a bird poops on their windshield? If you're a vendor here and not selling much it may just be because we can't buy your goods through a locked door I do try to support small business but those that keep hours that are unfriendly to folks who work for a living and in essence call me a liar are doing their best to keep myself and other shoppers out. I'll take the hint. Will I try it again? Nope.

Although not everything in this mall is old - or considered an antique, 90% of the items found in the different dealer booths ARE antique or vintage. The mall is very, very attractive and there are beautiful antiques, dating from the 1930's back to the mid 1800's. It is beautifully decorated - you can see that each of the dealers in this mall take pride in their areas and in the merchandise they offer for sale. It was a delightful experience. You were made to feel welcome from the moment you walked in the front doors - without being dogged by those who worked there. Yet, those who work there are more than helpful - knowledgable about what they are selling - and more than willing to call the owners for more information on an item if needed. I rate this a first class antique mall!
