From friendly instructors to clean facilities, I genuinely look forward to going to classes. There are lockers, bathrooms, showers, water fountains, and hanging racks available. Try to get to class at least 5 minutes before so you can get ready and settled into your mat. They also rent out mats and towels at the front desk. Most classes start on your back, which I love because it helps me clear my mind before class starts. My favorite instructors are Bekah, Chelsea, and Tami. Whenever I see their names on the schedule, I know I'm in for an excellent session. They're easy to hear throughout class and give clear, straightforward instruction that makes the practice accessible without unnecessary complexity or repetition. I highly recommend trying these instructors, though you really can't go wrong with any of the instructors here. There is street parking around the building and also a parking lot that you can access from 71st or 72nd street. It costs 4.99 for 90 minutes, but if you shop at PCC with a minimum purchase the charge is waived ( don't forget to get the coupon from PCC when you check out!)

Like many, of course, my yoga practice grew and grew amidst the isolation of the pandemic and I am now happily obsessed with daily practice and challenging myself often. Luckily, I found Maven Yoga right as I decided I was feeling safer and ready to attend in-person classes to grow my practice. I am even LUCKIER to have this sweet little studio near home, and though I've only been attending a few weeks so far, I am SO excited to continue my practice at Maven Yoga moving forward and definitely recommend their unlimited 30-day special for anyone considering new yoga studios in their routine! I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the classes I've attended with different instructors and have found myself both challenged and relaxed after every class! I really appreciate that a sense of community seems to be a goal in this studio - the instructors, especially Kai, make it a point to make you feel seen and guided throughout class. I don't feel like just another number at this studio and feel welcomed every time I step in! The amenities are also great! A relaxing studio with big mirrors and a cool ambiance, changing rooms, showers, restrooms, and super clean - what more could you ask for? As far as Covid-19 protocols go, I felt safe and did feel that there was attention to detail in cleaning as well as safety practices during my visits - masks are worn unless you are practicing and you must show proof of vaccination/negative Covid test if you do want to practice without a mask. The class sizes are spectacular and I have felt comfortable every visit. All in all, I am so glad to have found a yoga studio to incorporate in my weekly routine and am grateful to Kai and all instructors at Maven Yoga for creating such a safe and welcoming space for yoga practice and community.

After having…read moretaken a couple Lagree classes with some friends at a different studio, I definitely got my butt kicked, but loved how my whole body was sore for days following the class. Then I saw The Box opened near my house and decided to give it a shot. I couldn't be happier that I found this studio. It's super cute, super clean, super welcoming, and the classes always leave me sweaty and shaking (it also smells incredible and they have turned me on to Ouai products!) As such a beginner, there are plenty of people in my classes with way more experience, but the teachers never make me feel awkward, uncomfortable, or less than. All the instructors and front desk staff know my name and welcome me in each week. This includes the owner, Maureen, who is an amazing hype woman that provides incredible customer service. In addition to the megareformer classes I take, they have other class options like Mat Pilates, and are always hosting special pop ups and collaborations. I am over 20 classes in and look forward to going each week. Couldn't recommend The Box more!

In addition to Megaformer and mat Lagree classes, The Box also offers mat Pilates and yoga. I took my first Megaformer class with Maureen, the owner of the studio. I really appreciate the pace of her class, and she is such a sweet person! Whenever she's in the studio, she takes the time to chat with everyone and check in on how we're doing, which I love. I've found myself drawn to Ella's mat Pilates class, especially after taking two Megaformer classes that I need to improve my core strength. I appreciate the cues and modifications she shares during class, as they help me adjust to my current fitness level. I've also been loving Kendall's Megaformer classes. So far, I really enjoy her playlists, and even though her classes are challenging, they make me want to come back and improve. As for the overall vibe of the studio, I've found it to be very welcoming to people from all different fitness backgrounds. I appreciate that there's no pressure to be competitive, you can truly "come as you are." It's exactly what I need in my life, and I'm so grateful to have The Box in the neighborhood. I say I am a part of it because they truly do create a community there. Everyone is so kind, and the teachers always take time to say hi to you. When I first went, I was sort of intimidated by how friendly and talkative students were. I thought everyone knew each other from a previous location but, no, it turns out the studio just creates a welcoming and outgoing energy that makes everyone want to interact with one another. I have even made friends from the studio just by going to classes, which is a rare thing in Seattle. The energy of the studio is lovely, but the classes are even better. They have a class series dedicated to handstands. It's not a workshop, its weekly classes! Never have I ever had the opportunity to learn how to invert before properly. Teachers had always offered it in the past at other studios but never showed how or helped building the foundation for it. I think that is special. All of the flows at Commune are so unique, and you never get the same thing twice. (unless you want to, in which case they have a class just for that!) Usually, at other studios, you can tell if a class is close to over because the flows are repetitive and boring and so your mind wanders, and you start to think about what you'll get to do once it's over or what you'll have for dinner. Commune flows are NEVER like that, and by the time it ends, I'm always a little surprised at how FAST the hour flew by! I want to talk about their pricing too. As a student, I find their pricing incredibly accessible. I no longer have to choose between other expenses or a month of yoga. I left a chain studio to come to Commune and was paying almost double for half the quality of a studio. Commune has excellent rates that won't break the bank. They also have high-quality mats to use for free, unlike a lot of other studios have mediocre mats you have to pay to use. I also love that Commune Yoga is not a hot yoga studio. It gets warm, but not because they cook you with a heater. It makes the practice enjoyable, and I find the lack of overbearing heat makes it easier to stay in touch with how you're feeling physically during your practice. They have also handled the switch to online because of the pandemic with grace and ease. The classes are still just as great, and they are constantly filming and pumping out new content for us every week. We truly don't deserve them.

I arrived with the facility still closed and the yoga instructor showed up without the ability to get inside. We couldn't get in until 10 minutes into class time. Erica, the name of the person who was supposed to open the studio, was very brief, somewhat rude, and not welcoming. I asked her if I needed to sign anything, she just said "Just put your stuff away and go to class." The instructor, Molly, was super nice. She helped me check in and chatted with me as it was my first class with Commune and ClassPass. She challenges individuals with various movements and provides modifications as needed. I'm a bit disappointed with the engagement with the staff at the studio especially since this is my first class with them.

This isn't an aerobics class calling itself yoga; it's an informed, safe, mindful, calming, energizing practice that can be as challenging as the student wants. I'm a 20+ year practitioner and I like a more challenging practice but I see newer students enjoying practice too. I especially love how there are always millennials mixed in with retirement- aged yogis. With covid they closed their physical space and moved to zoom classes. I'm amazed to say that even the zoom classes are wonderful. I was skeptical, but Kim (the owner and only online teacher I've had) still helps with alignment if she notices you need help, and I still get that Whole Life Yoga feeling of calm and grounding.

It's been one whole year since I broke my ankle now, so I am giving myself until the end of…read moreDecember to quit talking about it . . . but it is relevant to my review of Whole Life Yoga . . . or, at least I'll MAKE it relevant so I can mention it :o) You know that girl? That cute, teensy girl wearing the cool, color-coordinated Athleta yoga outfit with the appropriately zen-like tattoo in a place only exposed during the most twisty of yoga poses that she executes flawlessly--? I am afraid that if I attend a yoga class with a group of them, they will execute a series of yoga poses in perfect synchronization, and then simultaneously change into fembot ninja assassins and turn on me. I'M the girl who looks like a real person, wears whatever is handy to work out in--and probably accidentally spilled something on herself on the way to class--develops bed head after lying on the yoga mat for 5 seconds and can't even THINK about imitating a pretzel because of all of the creaks and groans and current structural concerns of my skeletal system. Right now I'm pretty happy if I can get from lying down to sitting or standing with no major muscle spasms. So, I really wanted to try yoga to further work on my ankle (still swollen and hard to flex after a year), incorporate a mind-body workout for relaxation and reap the other many benefits . . . but I was intimidated. It's like any new thing for me: I fear judgment and massive humiliation but (eventually) have to power through it anyway--there aren't REALLY any fembots, right? Or, I am sure they are all very nice, once you get to know them . . . So I started looking on Yelp for the least of all scary yoga studios. Whole Life branded itself as yoga for real people, so I gave it a shot. I am SO glad I did! Everyone is so nice, and helpful and everything else that has been said in other reviews. I was shocked to discover that a lot of the people that go there have worse issues than a broken ankle--I was feeling pretty good that I ONLY had a broken ankle. We all do what we can and progress at our own rate, and there is always someone to help you modify a pose (I think they have a person on stand-by full-time for me). I've gone from being super-intimidated to doing yoga three times a week with zero habit-building pains. And those perfect people? I figured out that they only exist in magazines, television and in website photos . . . actually, I see a lot of "beautiful" people at Whole Life, but they are beautiful in a real-person, three-dimensional way . . . sort of like a Dove soap commercial. :o)

As someone who…read moreis really picky about yoga studios, I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed the studio given how little research I had done on it. They have a new student special of $25/ 2 weeks, which is incredible (especially after covid). With that student special, I was able to try a good number of instructors and at different times in the day. All instructors were really experienced: they taught really unique classes, offered great cues and had a calm confidence. Each instructor had their own style, so it'd be fun to take more classes and find instructors that resonate with your practice more. I found all the classes to be truly "all-levels", where the instructors all encouraged students to make any modifications (up or down) to suit their practice. However, as someone who has a very skills-based practice, I find it's personally difficult to truly make any all-levels class "challenging" enough, so keep that in mind if you have a similar practice. The studio space itself is small, but since they were capping the number of students per class, it wasn't overly crowded or uncomfortable. I can see that changing after covid restrictions are lifted, however.

This place is an absolute joke. The ceilings are those of a…read moreold run down school that has watermarks from the leaky roof. The floors are sticky and gross. You're laying on the ground and can see the dust and if you have allergies they'll immediately be triggered. The 'instructor' was horrible and the website falsely advertises hot rooms- it was purposefully left cold to accommodate the teacher. I've taken yin in multiple cities and this was not even close. This was yin for preschool kids. Yin here was a frog pose, child's pose, and a bridge. Additionally the sound bath is anything but... It's like they bought some bowls on Amazon and watched a YouTube. It was so bad and ear piercing that you leave you with ringing ears. Oh and to top it off the women here with the fake namaste attitudes are horribly rude. Suffice to say- don't waste your time or go here searching for a proper yoga studio or you too will experience the Walmart of yoga being culturally appropriated by a basic MAHA group.
