Course in great shape, playable enjoyable round. Great for municipal golf. This place has come a very long way in the past 5 years. Reasonable price, great layout, decent pace of play. One of the better courses in Northern Jersey. Well maintained and has an East and West course to add some variety to the mix. They've recently also revamped their reception area in front of the clubhouse to feature a putting green instead of a flower/shrub thing. Will never return to Preakness! Rude, condescending and belligerent employee! Our tee time was 3pm. We arrived on the 1st hole at 2:30pm and saw the flight in front of tee off. We were next to play but starter told us to wait until 3pm for the other 2 golfers, who were hitting in the driving range. I voiced my concern about the open holes with 30 min gap between flights. He condescendingly replied that he decides who goes out and when so it doesn't matter. He shouted "Don't you get it!! You can't go out until the other two arrive and when it is 3pm!" Got it! So the two of us headed to the putting green. At 2:50pm the starter charged over, hysterically screaming , "Girls, you are making everyone wait!" I have never been so embarrassed! Everyone was staring and few people approached us to see if we were ok after such vitriolic attack. Didn't he say we couldn't hit until 3pm!!And of course after couple of holes, a marshall approached us demanding we hasten our play because there were two open holes in front of us. Yes, if you start about 40 mins behind the flight in front, it will be hard to catch up, especially when you are a 4 some and ahead is 3. read more

I've played here on and off since 1980's as well as now in 2023 the people facilities and culture have changed drastically.

I don't golf much, so I haven't been to many courses. I thought this course was good, considering its a county course. The greens and fairway were well maintained. Some of the cart paths and areas just off the fairways were a little rough though. One thing that really shined here was the staff. The staff at the check-in, the starter, the beverage cart girl and the grill staff were excellent. They had a nice group of people working there. Would definitely come back. read more

Despite all the Covid-19 restrictions, I think Marty and staff are doing a terrific job. As a county course, there are always inexperienced golfers and those that have no "golf etiquette". Not sure how best to handle these people who violate every rule of golf and really slow things down. New reservation system requires some getting used to, but it's all in response to "Covid" modifications. As a "walker" I don't ever use carts but I understand there's been a shortage recently and I've observed players going ballistic over this. Everyone is learning and adapting to our new normal. I'd urge everyone to thank the staff, including groundskeepers for the thankless job they're trying to do. Golf's a great way to forget about Covid for a few hours and I'm glad to have 36 holes in town to enjoy it. read more

This is really getting frustrating. With one county course in a large county like Passaic County the local golfer and county members are being shut out and treated as alternative income. Marty has the course in fantastic shape and has created challenging holes and a great county course but I'd be remiss if I didn't comment on my disappointment that the management deems golf outings ( which I know generate guaranteed income) more of a priority over the county members who have one course yes it's 36 holes but the reality is one county course . Forget getting reasonable tee times on the weekends due to outings it has now filtered into weekdays. Went up today to just putt ( forget they took away a putting green in favor of a sitting area, which incidentally I rarely see anyone sitting in it) I was told as a member I couldn't even putt due to an outing which is using all facilities and it is closed to the members until further notice. Once again I love Marty and the job he has done with the course but the registered paying county residents need some consideration. There has to be a viable solution that satisfies all parties and allows for solid income with outings without shutting members out read more

I got the chance to play this course this past week and I am definitely a big fan and will be back. It was in great shape and it was very aesthetically pleasing. Definitely a course you can score on if you are a 15 or so handicap. It will still challenge you and will not make it easy which I appreciate. If you take a few risks off the tee and they work out for you you will be in prime position for your approach shot and the par fives were definitely reachable in two if you had two really good shots. The price is very fair and reasonable for the type of course it is. If you enjoy walking golf courses this is a very walkable course. read more

Nice course, but the rudest employees. Was actually yelled at 2 times by a "ranger" for playing a 5 sum when no one else was in front or behind us, EXCEPT for 2 other 5 sums. Was told we were going against course etiquette yet grown men were hanging on to the back of golf carts. read more

My college age son and grandson booked a tee time in advance for the west course. My grandson went in advance to register and they gave him a hard time until he came back with his father. My husband went with our college age son in advance too and Bob, in the pro shop, said as a county college student he qualified as a student and if he had a hard time to mention that Bob said it was ok. When they showed up today the workers in the pro shop were extremely condescending and rude. They went as far as to tell them that no one named Bob even works there until another customer commented on something Bob had told him. Then they miraculously remembered Bob. But they still told my son to 'man up' and pay the full price. As my son continued to stand his ground they finally relented and made good on Bob's word but only because a long line was forming. To top it off when they went to go to the west course the same rude worker came over and told them the west course wasn't open - even though they had booked it in advance. One would think young people should be encouraged to play the game - but I guess not here. I'm any case - there is no excuse for this kind of rude behavior towards anyone, much less young people wanting to learn and get better at the game. I would recommend parents accompany their kids to the pro shop and demand to be treated respectfully. At least they enjoyed the golf they were allowed to play and everyone else they encountered on the course were friendly (thus the 3 stars). But major personality adjustments are needed by some of the Pro Shop staff. read more

Horribly run golf course. Went to renew my membership, had all of my paperwork and the employee that was "assisting" me was more interested in whatever card game he was playing than taking my membership fee. When I said something to him he was vulgar and extremely rude. The course is decent for a county facility. It's always crowded and just not worth the aggravation. I would rather spend a few more bucks and play somewhere nicer (both course and staff). read more

Was the first day after daylight savings I went to the clubhouse around 4:45pm and was told by the ranger they were closed. Was always open previous seasons when I'd go after work. He the told me that if I was a regular he would let me out but since he didn't know me he couldn't let me go. I've been going to the golf course for years not often enough I guess to be a "regular." The ranger then proceeded to tell me that I wouldn't get many holes in even though there was still 2 hours of daylight left. Was quite disappointed with the service. Won't be coming back sadly for a course I had grown up playing. Don't know if it was new management or what. read more

I played there today. Its in better shape but no one fixes ballmarks. Marty ,the pro is doing an outstanding job but should stress ballmark and divot repair. The course with his crew is going up fast. Great job. My biggest complaint is with the kitchen. I understand it is sub leased. I waited 20 mins for 2 killed Sabrett hotdogs. Why they dont have food on the turn on both courses is not understandable. The kitchen needs new staff that knows how to put out food fast or else it will fail. I can run it better but wait till they fail to give them proper golf food ideas read more

This place shocked me yesterday. I swore last time I played here a few years ago was the last time. Shoes caked in goose droppings, awful conditions from tee to green. A lot of my students kept telling me conditions have improved. My reaction was yeah right! Much to my surprise I played there yesterday and got a great deal on Golf Now. WOW!!!! Great conditions from tee to green! Not a goose dropping to be found...a complete 180 degree turn around! It was always a nice layout, but now the conditions match! Highly recommend! We had a very good time on Red pretty open and straight forward a lot of 4 pars that are doable 3 pars were a lot of fun...the only issue was that many of the holes run too parallel and close so you have to be aware of other players playing from your side towards their hole. Carlos read more

The course is in pretty decent shape, the rough is really short and doesn't penalize a stray shot. The problem is the staff, they just are not accommodating. I showed up an hour early to use the range, when I went to check in and pay I was told I was too early so I couldn't get my cart. The range is a decent walk. OK dealt with that, these guys need a 5.00 cash deposit for a cart WOW must be a lot of cart thieves in the neighborhood. read more
