A great three par course in excellent condition. Friendly staff and reasonable prices for a round. Give it a try!

Wow. Where do I even begin? If you've ever wondered what it's like to tee off from a mud pit and play 18 holes in a swamp, look no further. The tee boxes? Just mud. The fairways? Wet, messy, and barely playable. And yes, they're actually charging over $80 for this privilege. Incredible. As a bonus, I figured I'd grab a drink at the clubhouse to salvage the experience--only to be served a beer so flat it could've doubled as tap water. Impressive. All in all, it was a masterclass in how not to run a golf course. I won't be back, but hey--best of luck to anyone who thinks this is worth their time or money. read more

Thought I booked Sunset Valley but accidentally booked this place.. What an absolute sh*thole. Literally.. there's a septic facility overflowing onto the fairways. You have to drive your cart through it too, thats a great time. This place looks like it used to be an old missile testing site, probably should be.. Bunkers are dirt holes with no sand. Greens are absolute comedy, don't even try to line up a putt just close your eyes and give it a whack, watch it bounce around like a pinball machine on the way to the cup. Luckily they do have an alcohol-serving beverage cart girl. I recommend getting absolutely crippled drunk as soon as possible so you'll forget you just paid 50 bucks to play here. I had absolutely no idea which way to go to get to the next tee box, which don't have any markers, so reds, whites, tips, who knows what we played today. No starter, no Marshall. No bathrooms, pretty sure i also saw human poo which was sick. Fairways are FUBARs. Pace of play... hahahaha.. We Started as a twosome, then joined the twosome in front of us on the second hole. We still got held up by the foursome in front of them by the fourth hole. Then we fought with the absolute idiot twosome behind us... they insisted on playing through cause they "play fast" and immediately hit two water balls off the tee. Both shot 8+ on par 3. So we just started hitting into them the rest of the day until they eventually quit and left. Oh definitely bring a helmet it's absolutely wild how many balls will be screaming past you from every direction. And give yourself at least 7 hours if you're actually still considering this place after what i just said, we teed off at 3pm and only made it to the 15th hole. read more

It's been a few years since I last played The Meadows but I was there yesterday for a golf outing for my daughter's softball team. Let me be up front...I never liked The Meadows much because I always felt they were way overpriced for the quality (or lack of quality) of the golf course. Poor maintenance and high prices drove me away. Back to today (or yesterday to be more precise). Got to the course for our outing (small outing, only about 48 people) and had a little breakfast and coffee before moving to the carts. As we drove to our tee (shotgun start) I saw that the course was in better shape than the last time I was there. Even after some heavy rains last week the low lying course only had a few spots where the poor drainage kept things wet and almost all of the wet spots weren't really in play. The greens here are in much better shape, but the fairways still are very patchy and could use some work-not terrible, just not great. Greens were cut to a good level on the stimp meter for an outing-not too fast, not too slow. Some of the cart paths need to be redone, but I'm not gonna ding them there. Maintenance workers could do a MUCH better job of considering the golfers when cutting the grass as we had them with us for much of the day. The Meadows has come down with there rates significantly (http://www.meadowsgolfclub.com/rates) which was nice to see. Definitely not my favorite course in the area, but we had a great time yesterday, the course was in pretty good shape, lunch and beer was a nice topping to a round. We played in about 4:29...not bad for a Jersey course. Great job by The Meadows in trying to fix some if the problems with the course and for lowering their prices. Probably the absolute WORST golf experience I have ever had in 22 years. Fairways barely had grass, and where there WAS actually grass, it was difficult to tell the fairways from the first cut of rough. Beyond the first cut, the rough was ankle deep. Greens were dotted with un-repaired ball marks, which is due in large part to inconsiderate golfers, but greens keepers also have a responsibility to maintain them. Bunkers were hard as a rock when not filled with water from recent rains. Maintenance on this course is virtually non-existent. The only saving grace was the cart girl; a cute blonde with a terrific smile - a smile that nobody else working there seemed to have. To pay $50+ for this course is tantamount to robbery. Save your money, time and frustration and play ANYWHERE else. read more

I was here with 2 friends for a round of golf. We used a groupon deal which included 18-holes and driving cart for $32/person. Not sure how much regular price is. The catch was to use it before Mar2013. The courses were ok. I noticed that people do not fix their divots. The fairway was littered with a lot of hole but it is wintry type weather so the upkeep may not be in full force. I Parred a hole which is rare. It was a very cold day to be out playing golf. We only played the first 9-holes and left to eat at the pancake casa! It was a nice to waste time and money with the guys. read more

After not playing the Meadows for a long time, I was pleasantly surprised with how much work they have put into it. The new management has done a great job promoting the course and making it one that you want to go back & play. Also the manager, Mike was very hands on making sure everything was ok after my car was hit in the parking lot. He even went as far and gave me a free round for my troubles. Definitely recommend the Meadows for a course that's affordable and also fun to play. read more

Went as a foursome with three of my friends. It all started when we got there. I understand things happen like technical outages, but this wasn't the first time. It took over 20 minutes for the club house to process our billing before playing. For some reason they use a computer from 1980 and don't bother upgrading it even when tee time prices are high. This same scenario has happened on multiple occasions. This destroyed the pace of play as the group behind us was up our rear ends the whole time. Additionally they charge 70$ or more at peak hours for an absolutely horribly maintained course. What a joke. The tee boxes were dirt and the majority of the fairways had bare spots filled with weeds. In addition they weren't even mowed for when we played in the afternoon. Could barely find your ball on the fairway grass was so high. Lastly, one of the workers made a condescending comment at the end of our game about not coming in immediately after the horn was blown. Had issues with this worker multiple times. We treated the issue professionally, but can't help but wonder how he has a job there after so many complaints. All in all, way too high of a price to be treated with disrespect both by the worker and the owner for not investing in maintaining the course. I booked morning tee times last week through activegolf.com. A day before, I had trouble finding an 8th golfer (one cancelled) so I called the club house and an old grumpy dude couldn't help me. I was ready to eat the cost. My group of seven arrived early on Saturday and were stunned by the lack of a driving range. All we could do is practice putting. Luckily the starter pushed us ahead, with two groups back to back. One guy needed to rent clubs and he got it complimentary. It was a nice gesture. The 18-hole course in Lincoln Park, New Jersey features 6345 yards from the longest tees (blues) for a par of 70. The course rating is 70 and it has a slope rating of 119 on Rye grass. Although playing from the white tees, this course has some fuzzy math in regards to yardage. For example, you see a sign saying 130 yards, but the marker says otherwise? More like 110, or just shorter than advertised. I did double-takes on all of the holes at the tee boxes and par 3's especially (looked like a pitch n putt at times). Other than that, the front nine is very congested; holes are flanked by other holes and I heard many cries of 'fore'. I almost got hit a few times with stray balls. The back nine was a lot nicer. Greens were maintained nicely with exception to one hole (see photo). I am in no means a good golfer, losing a dozen balls due to water hazards. There's a lot of sand flying, but the ball is in the same spot. My colleagues are snickering in the background. I did make one impressive 'out' from a bunker onto the green for a one putt. In addition, prided myself with bogeys on 9 and 10, a par on 14 and sinking a 30 foot putt on 12. We paid $79 for greens fees and cart (per head). It was nice finishing 18 holes up in 5 hours (we got held up at a few holes - there was a bottleneck somewhere ahead of us) and getting a beer at the bar. 7 pints of Yuengling/Heineken was $19. My husband took me here on the last day we could use a Groupon we had purchased earlier this year. After warming up at a couple drivings ranges in the past week, we decided to hit the green. We arrived a little early for our 9:53 tee time and check-in and start warming up a bit. We went back to check if our cart was ready at around 9:55. Nada. And to add insult to injury, we just found out there was a party of 16 ahead of us that weren't even half-way through the first hole. The golf course workers managed to squeeze us in with a two-some who were just about to head to the second hole, thankfully, or we would have been waiting easily another 30 minutes or more to start at the first. Unfortunately, it didn't get much better from there. With a foursome of super-eager Asian ladies coming up quickly behind us and a foursome of bush-league middle-aged white men ahead of us, we ended up sandwiched, feeling both stalled and rushed. One of the Asian ladies even picked up my ball from the green and tried to pocket it! I had to chase after her on our cart and ask for it back! SERIOUSLY. Then, at the 12th hole, they tried to slide a group of eight men ahead of us. Of course, they were told to go to the 14th hole, and instead accidentally went to the 13th hole. We intercepted half of them, refusing to wait behind eight more people after having been waiting on the course for four hours already. Thankfully, the guys that did make it ahead of us seemed to be pretty good, so they made their way quickly through the green. We finally finished 17 of the 18 holes in five hours. Oh, and it was one of the hottest days this summer. I didn't even play the 18th hole, I was so sore and tired, and we didn't bother making our way back to the 1st hole. Ahhh, the trees are in bloom, the weather is warming, Spring is in the air and that can only mean one thing.......it's time to golf again :) I have to give credit where credit is due. The condition of this course had really been deteriorating.......to the point where I just stopped playing here altogether. Especially since their greens fees were ridiculously over-priced for the quality of the course. I heard that they made a lot of renovations to this course and I decided to give the Meadows another chance this past weekend. Wow, I was impressed with the condition of the course. Tee boxes in great shape, fairways also looking good and the greens well maintained and true. On top of all of the renovations, they lowered their prices! Played on Saturday afternoon (12:30) and it was only $39 walking. Great job the Meadows......you've got me back! read more

I took the afternoon off this past Friday to sneak 18 in. I recommend never paying full as it is expensive for the course quality. I found a great deal on GolfNow that I jumped at. The clubhouse could be very nice but is very outdated. They operate on tee times every 9 minutes which causes the course to get backed up quickly because of the layout of the first few holes. The course has potential but some of the fairways are really beat up and the greens don't exactly roll true. However if you want an easy course that can be scored on, this is your place. read more

I don't understand this course at all. #1 it isn't cheap - $80 with a cart on a weekend is insane to play this course. It is not well maintained, fairways are muddy, there was an exposed drainage pipe on hole #8, poorly maintained greens. My favorite part is the distances! Do not go by the signs AT ALL. I flew about 3 greens all with well struck tee shots on the par 3's. The signs can be off by a good 30 yards on some holes. Whoever constructed this course should be required to give all golfers hard hats as well. The screams of "FORE" are everywhere, and with balls coming at you from multiple directions, I will guarantee that you or someone in your party almost gets hit by a ball at least 2-3 times during 18 holes. Overall - totally NOT worth the money whatsoever. My only kudos is the bar area that has very reasonably priced food and beer. Everything else is a total rip off. For the same money you can play Neshanic Valley, and anyone who has played both will tell you that these courses aren't even in the same league. PS - the course advertises a driving range, and that isn't there either! read more

Echoing what so many have said - this course is terrible. Fairways are strips of dirt, greens look like rough. Landscapers twice messed up our play. First time they ran over the ball with a mower. Second time the landscaper picked up the ball and tossed it. One hole had a pile of poop that I swear looked human. Never playing here again. read more

Horrible experience, had to leave on 13 because the course was so crowded and we were stuck behind 90 year olds walking. Also, they should give helmets when you check in, i almost got drilled several times from golfers on other holes. Finally, its cash only and have to pay 3$ surcharge to use their ATM. The reviews on this place seem outdated. I played here for the first time in July 2017. While not a championship course, the people who run the place couldn't be nicer. Had a Groupon and they got me out ASAP even though there was a mix up on my tee time. Nice little bar and kitchen with reasonable prices. As for the course, if you are a low handicap, this probably isn't the place for you. If your a high handicap who doesn't hit the ball 300 yards, you can have fun with this place. Make some good shots and you can score well. Pace of play on a Sunday at noon was about 4:45 round. Not bad at all. Worth the money. read more

Course is the worst that I have ever seen....greens are nothing but ball marks and debris. Rain has been heavy this year and I know this course floods easily, But, there were parts where the cart path was covered by deep water....high enough so as not to see the path itself. Fairways were obviously soaked and flooded (to he expected). Most of the course has had numerous trees removed so the place looks like a construction site. This is where today's problem showed itself. We booked an early tee time (sunrise) so as to finish our round in a reasonable time frame. One group in front of us and we completed the front nine at a comfortable pace. Then we drove to the back nine. We pull up and there's a foursome waiting on the tee box and another foursome in the middle of the fairway....where did they come from and why are they now in front of us. For the next 3 holes there were 3 groups on the same hole and pace was painfully slow. Eventually, we called the pro shop and the girl who answered had no answer as to why they were there. She said they must have gone out on their own without permission. I asked where the men were that opened in the morning and she said they all left to run errands. So...no rangers....no starter...no control!!!!!!! She was very apologetic but that was of no help to us. Maybe this type of course management works well on a miniature golf course but certainly NOT there. Eventually we were able to play thru the immediate group in front of us (only after we asked and they had just enough etiquette to oblige. The group in front of them was not so nice. They refused to let us play thru and slowed their pace to a crawl. We were forced to jump a hole so we would have any chance of getting our groove back. Conditions are one thing....but this course goes against every thing the USGA has to say about golfing etiquette and pace of play. I've played this course many times in the past when Hank owned it. Never any problems! Unless there's some major improvements in conditions and course management...we most likely won't be back read more

I like the casual feel of the course from the staff and other players, the reasonable price tag, and the course is in decent shape, but they let WAY too many people out. Make sure you like who you're playing with, because your round may take a while. It felt like 30 seconds without hearing "fore!" was a long time due to the tight layout and crowded track...in a 5 hour round, that's a lot of ducking for cover. read more

This course is nothing to write home about. Granted, I played it the day after a big storm, so the course condition was not the best. However, I got the feeling that the course condition was never that great. The course layout is pretty boring for the most part and there is one par 3 that is just an obnoxious length. Also, the fact that they didn't take credit card was quite annoying - I think they are just trying to avoid taxes or something because one person in our group didn't have to pay for the balls he got (I'm guessing the person working didn't want to ring anything up). It's not a terrible course, but I wouldn't make the trek to NJ again for it. There are better courses that are closer for the same cost. read more

I play this course pretty often during all 4 seasons. Winter is winter so golf sux in bad weather anyway. This course is well maintained and challenging, the tee boxes are upkept n the fairways are kept smooth....the greens r also in great shape, although the 10th green has some sort of discoloration that resembles a 15 foot shadow which makes it tricky to read. Water n trees give the course a great shape . After a day of rain the course will have a few holes with 2-3 puddles(Hole#1,2,6,10, and 16). I would disregard the older reviews of this course because the renovations made have completely changed this into a must play course! read more

First off very very poor customer service. I had a tee time for 4 at 11:15 am on a Saturday. Well I live about 15 minutes away so around 10:45 I called to ask about the dress code policy and the guy I assume the owner tells me we are closed for today due to flooding from this past Thursday! Are you kidding me first off wouldn't you call your customers to tell them and secondly he still never answered the dress code policy. I had 3 friends drive over 30 mins to get to my house then we are about to leave and they tell me that. What a joke of a course, I've been once before and always muddy and the way they treat customers is just downright rude. I do not recommend, there are better links in north jersey to golf at. read more

Always over-crowded, no rangers in site to move along the slower players. Have been here twice this season and one was 5.5 hours, the other almost 6 (having two leagues play at the same time while also taking tee times AND walk ons is probably not the best of ideas). Hand down the worst golf experience. my friend and I decided to go play hereon Saturday September 7 we went and check in at 2:00 went to the first hole there were 3 groups in front of us. No big deal we expected that on a Saturday. Tee off around 2:30 and then the misery began. Each hole took us took us maybe 20 to 30 minutes we finished 9 holes at 6:45 4 hours an 15 minutes. We were so disgusted. Went to the dack 9 there were 4 groups in front of us at the par 3 . We were looking for the ranger and nobody is around called the office to no avail. We waste $44 for this you wait all weekto play one round of golf don't waste your time and spend it here. read more

This place is not worthy of a $70 price tag. The tee boxes and fairways are in poor shape. The rough is basically unmowed weeds. And it just isn't that nice. It's worth $50 tops. The one thing about this course which makes it a unplayable is that the layout is terrible. It's a shooting galley with far too many tee shots aimed at where people are expected to be standing. Also the jerks that play this course walk into other fairways without care and steal balls. Real morons up around here. SKIP IT. read more

This golf course is a dump and the manager/owners are awful. I played on a warm day in the winter. They were charging something like $60.00 to walk. I went in the first fairway and almost lost my shoe it was so muddy and wet. I walked back to the clubhouse and asked for my money back because the course was unplayable. They refused to give me my money back. A heated argument ensued but they refused to budge at which point I Told them what I thought about them and thier s-hole of a course. Needless to say I will never go back. I had played there before and it really is a terrible course, just happened to be the only one open in the winter. Save your money, there are much better options. read more

Since I live close I frequent this course quite a bit. I think that the rates compared to knoll hills in parsippany are very high for what you get. The Meadows plays very short, the front 9 layout is a disaster, and if it rains heavy the day / night before good luck swimming. Pluses are no tee times needed on weekdays, great improvements to the back 9, and some very difficult pin locations. I play 2-3 times a week and most times it's a pleasure to play there. read more

Would not recommend. Coming from Hoboken, it's hard to find a decent course without traveling out to Morris County or further. This place was right off Rt 3 and for $65 figured it was worth a shot. Definitely the wrong move. The tee boxes are in rough shape and are right on top of one another. Literally 4-5 of the putting greens are adjacent to tee boxes so one bad tee shot and you might be in trouble. Also, the course is basically a swamp. Most of the ponds are so swampy the balls float (that should not happen) and the rough is basically just weeds. Finally, the course was so backed up and no ranger to be found anywhere we left after 13 holes. The only thing I would say is that the staff in the clubhouse was friendly and accommodating. Long story short, if you were thinking about playing this course, I would take a pass. read more

I had a 2 pm tee time and by 5:45 pm I still had 6 holes to play and there were 3 groups in front of me waiting to play the next hole. Unfortunately, realizing that I wiuldn't be able to get done in any reasonable time frame, my son and I threw in the towel and left. The course does not have any rangers and does not enforce a pace of play rule. When I went to the pro-shop to complain, the person was beligerent and told me not to come back if I didn't like it. Next time you would have to pay me to suffer through such an experience. read more

Ok before I go on why you should not play this course lets look at the positives. 1) The course was in good shape for the amount of play that goes on it 2) Groupon made the price on a sunday reasonable 3) Club house looked taken care of, 4) Good putting green to warm up on. Now its time for why I didn't like this course. 1) Not a single ranger on the course. Could have gotten away with golf murder on the course. 2) Way to many people on the course. Seems they booked 3 foursomes per hole. 3) From it being over booked we almost had to take cover every hole and actually got hit by a tee shot! 4) Pace of play was the worst I have ever been. Would have been 6 hours if it wasnt for some angry golfers leaving. Instead it was only 5 and a half (not much better) 5) Went into the club house to have a quick bite to eat and no one was there... at all... we waited for a while and decided to go to the next tee without food. O and guess what we still had to wait for the group in front of us after we waited for food! 6) Bunkers needed some love 7) I got eaten alive by misquitos. Like an abnormal amount 8) People kept taking my ball after a tee shot (again to being over packed) 9) Our group had to be the grounds crew on the green fixing at least 4 divots per hole. 10) Course design was not challenging. That might be why they overfill the course to add a challange to it. My suggestion: The course and price seem to be in the right place but the course management is no where to be found. I understand that money needs to be made, but not at the risk of injuring golfers and causing 6 hour rounds. Even if you ignore me on that one a ranger is needed even more in that case to control pace of play and to make sure people were following the rules (it was cart path only and no one cared at all) read more

The meadows is back after an horrific disaster resulting from last seasons hurricain. Played last sunday and the course is about 99%. The greens are still rough, but playable. I'm a fan after many years because, I'm a bogey golfer and this course is gentle yet dificult. pricy? yes, but to me not having to drive 50 miles and wait to play it's worth it. Thats just me. Once the staff gets to know you they treat you like family. Are there better courses? sure, but for close to home it's perfect for me. Convenient, challenging, and friendly. read more
