My dishwasher recently failed and caused water damage in my kitchen. I was distressed to find out that the flooring has since been discontinued and thus the entire first level of the house, which was continuous hardwood, would need to be replaced. I was sad, dejected and overwhelmed by the prospect of such a large project. I went to Portland Floor after reading positive reviews, and I was not disappointed! Ryan and Zach were just so wonderful in terms of picking out new flooring that would match the style. Zach came out and measured the area among the chaos of the demolition. He also offered great advice on the flooring he thought would look good. He was personable, easy to talk to and never pushy. (Enjoy baby girl Zach!) Our experience with Portland Floors started off well with the sales staff being friendly and knowledgable at the store. We chose carpet quickly and they came a few days later to measure and turned the quote around quickly. That's where the experience went downhill. We paid over 50% for our carpets a month ago and were told we'd receive a call within a few days to schedule installation based on when they expected to receive our carpet. We waited 3 weeks with no contact although we did call twice for an update and were told that Ben would reach out to coordinate our installation. We finally reached out again after the holiday and were told Ben was out on holiday and someone else would contact us Monday to schedule installation. We were pleased to hear from that new contact on Monday who scheduled our delivery for the following day (Tuesday, which is today). We packed our stuff last night and moved several items downstairs and into bathrooms in preparation for their arrival this morning. They were supposed to arrive this morning between 9 and 11. At 11am my husband got a call that the warehouse had GIVEN OUR CARPET TO ANOTHER CUSTOMER and it has been installed. Thus we will not be getting our new carpets installed today and have to wait 10 more days! I'm pregnant and already moved lots of items in preparation for today and now we will be either moving everything back and then having to move it again, or living like this for 10 more days. This is just such a frustrating experience and I will not recommend this company to anyone else looking for new flooring. :( read more

We were incredibly disappointed in the Communication from Portland Floor on our project. We left a 1/2 deposit to get the job started. There was poor follow through from multiple staff including the project manager, who literally never got in touch with us. In the end we worked directly with their subcontractor who was responsive or was until the final issues needed to be addressed. We held up the second half of payment until the job was as done as it seemed they were able to do. Look elsewhere. read more

Our townhouse had old worn-down carpet and needed to be replaced. We got a quote from Portland Floor and decided to work with them. The selection was really good (almost too many options!!) of very high quality carpets. They were very accommodating about scheduling and were very responsive through communications. There were a few minor bumps, like needing to update the type of carpet pad after I placed the order, and I made a mistake with the check, but they handled it well and were super professional the entire time. They performed the work in one-day as promised. The only negative is that I had to re-adjust some closet doors and clean some spots on the doors and walls afterward, but it was relatively minor and not too much trouble. If I had more projects, I would use them again. read more

We had flooring done in a few rooms of our house. They have a great showroom, tons of options, and kind, knowledgeable people to help. We are very happy with the end result, beautiful, high-quality flooring in each of the rooms. They made one major error in one of the rooms that took quite some time to resolve. It's chaos getting flooring done, since all your stuff has to move, and that chaos continued for over a month while the error was sorted out. We had issues with communication, many many phone messages and emails where we received no reply. The customer service we received was very good, when we could get it. read more

This is a wonderful outfit of very decent people. Their showroom is well stocked with samples, but best of all, they are a great group to work with. It feels like you are working with one family that all have the same goal in mind -- pleasing their customer. I am a cabinet maker and found them when my wife and I were struggling to find a flooring for our house that matched our design goals. We spent months looking online and around town. It was nice that they were able to help us find the right flooring, but honestly, there are many showrooms with access to the same vendors. It's the service that was deserving of this review. A few people do a lot of work there, but they do it well and with sincerity and genuine care. I never do this, except this one time. Zak was helpful and patient as we took our time deciding on the flooring. But once we did, stand back, because Dimitri and his team of installers did a terrific job. He kept us informed of issues or progress, of which there were few of the former and much of the second. The flooring looks great plus they did all sorts of little things that were not part of the deal but they knew would look better. The door to the crawl space is now a showpiece! DO NOT let them refinish your floors! They did an uneven finish, the wrong finish, they stained our base boards and our carpeting that runs next to the hardwood. They said their work was guaranteed for a year if we weren't happy. After 4 months, the floors had an "orange peel" look to the finish and now they won't fix the floors. So many problems. Their general contractor had to come back and repaint the baseboards and fix the carpet. Very disappointed with the outcome. read more

Simona scheduled our tile and wood floor repair estimate for June 2nd. I took time off of work for this. Ryan came out and spent 45 minutes assessing our floors and getting a digital map of the layout of our house on his phone. He literally measured every room and every closet with a laser, and all the while I had the joy of listening to him talk about his divorce, guns, and life with his new girlfriend. Ugh. He promised to have an estimate done by the following Monday. On Wednesday, I call Simona and she couldn't find my appointment. She said she remembered scheduling us and that they do have a Ryan that worked that day. "Don't worry, I'll make sure he gets your estimate done." It's been 2 weeks now and she has not returned my call. If you'd like Portland Floor to send a strange man to walk through your home, keep a digital map on his personal phone, and not follow through with an estimate, then definitely waste your time with this company. They have a huge selection and are very organized so that was very helpful and easy to make a selection. Everything is color coordinated and organized by different types of flooring. It helped me understand more about the floors and and distinguish what I actually like/need in my house. The gals working there were so helpful and friendly and were very diligent to my needs.
