Long story short, these guys are professional, organized, and act with urgency. For me, I reached out because the gas boiler for my baseboard heating died and the pilot light no longer lit up. I asked for a referral from my home inspector and that's how I heard of these guys. Initially, I thought that I just needed to replace the thermocouple, so I called Cronin for a price quote. Nick picked up the phone and asked for some photos to help confirm my assessment and so that they could provide an accurate price quote for parts and labor. Sadly, for me, when Pat showed up the next day, he discovered that the thermocoupler was the least of my worries. The boiler showed signs of roll out, where flames, soot, and possibly carbon monoxide was reverse flowing into the apartment instead of the exhaust vent. The safety controls on the system had triggered and stopped the gas from flowing for combustion. This unit was primed to be a fire hazard if it were to continue to be operational. Pat explained to me what the issues were and laid out two options - waste a lot of money and time finding someone who can service the current unit and power wash the insides, which itself would costs several thousand dollars, or replace the entire thing and have a new furnace with 20 yr warranty. I chose to replace. The team then left the site to find parts and to price out an estimate. Pat personally gave me a call about an hour and a half later to touch base, confirming availability of materials and also gave me the overall cost. He then had Nick generate a work order for me to approve and we clarified a couple of items, the team went about sourcing all the material that they needed. Payments are made in three tiers, 60% upfront for material acquisition, 35% after the work is done for the labor, and the final 5% after permits and inspections are completed. Once I approved, Nick called me the next day to let me know that they had some people available to come over to take apart and remove the gas boiler to prep the site for installation. This was done super efficiently and the crew was awesome. The crust and debris from the old system was vacuumed up and the pipes were drained - everything was ready for installation day. Installation day started early - the crew arrived at 8:30 and proceeded to get to work. They brought in a work table and a step ladder along with a bunch of gear needed to fabricate the ductwork and the piping for the new system. Because of the tiny closet that this system needed to fit into, they made sure to measure and measure before finalizing the installation spot and hooking everything up. Six guys rotated in and out of my apartment bringing stuff in, hauling stuff out, going to Home Depot for supplies, etc. It took them until about 4:30 to wrap up and give me a final walkthrough, which was thorough and detailed. The new piping is immaculate and they made sure the structure was set up so that maintenance on the system could be done without the need to take the whole system apart. This is top grade work that is worth every penny you spend. Highly, highly recommend.

What frustrates me most is what happened next: I called Dr. Drip Plumbing & Heating, and the VERY FIRST thing they did was calmly explain how to shut off the water to stop the leak immediately. Roto-Rooter never once mentioned this -- despite knowing I had no idea what I was doing and that water was actively leaking. That basic advice could have saved me a lot of stress in the moment. It really felt like Roto-Rooter only cared whether they were getting paid, not whether a stressed customer actually needed help. Meanwhile, Dr. Drip Plumbing & Heating immediately treated me like a human being and helped me solve the immediate problem before anything else.
