Before work began, Jose responded promptly to my requests for changes in design, gave detailed drawings &estimates PRICE - it was a very fair price, and lower than the other bid I got for a simple rectangular design DESIGN - my requirements were a bigger patio that covers up the swamp. Jose came up with a plan that has curves to fit in well with the curves in my existing landscape, plus the swamp is gone! He gave me advice on which sizes of pavers would work well in the design. PROFESSIONALISM - every day the team was on time and left the area cleaned up. They laid and re-laid pavers until they were satisfied with the look. They spent a lot of time leveling and fixing places where water pooled on my lawn/old patio. They improved the downspout drains and crawlspace vents. After 2 years living in our Issaquah rambler, we were tired of our grubby back yard. With a very…read moresloping hillside slumping into it, the constant roll of rocks, and puddling of runoff made the space not very enjoyable. Our small deck, and a big dirt patch was also not a clean or functional space for us or our dog - so it was time for a change. Once we set our minds to investing in a renovation, I met with 7 (yes 7!) concrete, rockery, and paver providers to discuss the projected heat their ideas, and solicit quotes. A number of the providers were visionless, one was rude, and another was wildly expensive (twice as much as any of the others). Enter Jose and J Zamora Construction. While my initial vision for the space was admittedly to have a concrete patio, with a paver retaining wall - after meeting with Jose, my mind changed. In the most genuine and non-pressuring tone possible, he educated me about the benefits of using pavers (repairability, less cracking risk, better drainage, etc). That, combined with both his understanding of the challenges of my property, as well as his unique lense on a design for our space - made Jose a stand out. I also greatly appreciated that when I expressed specific wishes, he did not take offense when those ideas didn't align with his initial recommendation. When some providers acted put-off when I said "I don't want to take out this tree" (etc.), Jose took it in stride and offered solutions rather than trying to convince me that my preference was unreasonable. After viewing our property, he was prompt, kind, and fair in his quote to us. His documentation was thorough and clear. That, along with his truly aesthetically, and functionally minded vision for our space convinced me to completely pivot from "I'm doing concrete", to "let's go with pavers". After hiring Jose, he recommended products that suited our combined vision for my yard, was transparent about potential overages, and ultimately executed a project that is beyond my dreams for our difficult space. His crew of 6 busted their behinds for 4 solid days to crack it out. They were prompt, respectful of my property and neighbors; and thorough in their daily, and end of project cleanup. They even went above and beyond to carefully re-lay our dog's invisible fence line, which was displaced in the underground drainage portion of our project. Ultimately, we're left with the addition of nearly 1000 square feet to our livable space. An area that started as a grubby dirt patch has become a clean and stunning use of space. It flows with the natural landscape, and looks cohesive with our very mid century home. We have had neighbors (known to us and new introductions) stop by with their jaws on the floor - one even saying "you've made this yard the showpiece of the mountain". I called TerraFirma and a couple other companies to get quotes. RJ arrived and I explained the issue. He took about 45 minutes to inspect and gave me an estimate for under $4,000. I was happy with that, signed the agreement, and cancelled the other companies' visits. A date was scheduled for a month later (just before Christmas). The technician Jeremy arrived on time and prepared. He was easy to get along with. A few hours after he informed me that he finished about 1/3 of the shop and that was all the foam in the estimate. He told me that he could stop or continue, but there is an extra cost. I felt like I really had no other option but continue. Jeremy seemed to empathize with the situation I was in and did what he could to keep the cost down. After all was set and done, my $4,000 estimate had turned into almost $10,000. I was unable to get in touch with RJ to talk about it at the time. He left a voicemail stating he was on vacation, but would elevate it with the team. After the new year I left voicemails with Victoria, the project manager, several times over a week and a half with no return call, even though being told she was in the office. I finally explained my issue with the person who answered the company's main line and that I had left several messages with no response. She advised that she would send an urgent note to Victoria and her boss. The next day I received an email from Victoria simply stating the technician had already given me a break and that I signed the authorization for additional work. I understand overages and that estimates are just a best guess, but my final cost was way over twice the original estimate, my calls were ignored, and the company does not seem to be concerned that my project was $6,000 over the estimate. Living in a 30-year-old home for the past two decades we've had several phases of upgrades, but one…read morething has always been absent from a 10x10 slab on our back porch: a hot tub. So, this summer, we decided to move forward with the plan to be "soakin' for the holidays" three months away. The only thing standing in the way of that dream: the slab and its neighbor had sunk a few extra degrees, roughly three inches, at the far edge. We were going to need to shore up and permanently stabilize this slab if our hopes of the (3-ton when filled) tub were going to materialize. I made a quick call to Terra Firma and they had an estimator out within a few days. The pricing was reasonable and had the standard 50% up front 50% when complete-type contract. Casey arrived spot-on at 8:00am yesterday morning and began doing his magic (the process involves boring 1/2" holes through the slab, then using high pressure and heat to inject a molten expanding foam under the slab.) The foam is rated to support about 5 tons (10,000 pounds) per pound of foam material, and....100 pounds later that whole slab is back to following the prescribed slope perfectly, raising almost three inches on the sunken side. He did a great job and was a great rep for the company, explaining what little was left to explain. He kept me up on the status of the (4-hour) job as he went along--because our slabs had previously cracked, he had to gently lift it up in small sections so as to not have the sections separate further. Perfect job. 24 hours later and the patched holes have dried to almost-invisible (see photos). Unless you know what you're looking for, you can't even really see that repairs were made. Now I just need to fill in the pre-existing cracks with concrete patching caulk and we're ready to schedule the hot tub delivery! Yippee! Thanks Terra Firma!

I do not have a chimney . took weeks to get new fan/blower they finally came very much in a hurry the installer. never told me how to turn off fireplace. very hard to get a hold of company. had another company come and check my fireplace (Glowing Hearth and Home) excellent company. told me they installed the wrong blower hence why it sounded like a car running! new company was awesome they cleaned gave me a remote and blower for only 500+$. again do not use Chimcare!!! owner is very rude and told me they did correct . would not refund my money of 572$. After collecting our payment Jason called at the last minute to say they couldn't return on the promised day because of a conflict on his part. We rescheduled for two weeks layer because we were out of town the next week. They never showed up and ignored text messages. When we finally got to speak with him almost 4 weeks later, he kept rudely talking over the top of my husband, yelling that it was our fault because we were out of town on that ONE day, then eventually he hung up on us. When we asked for a return of the funds if he had no intention of doing the work he kept insisting that he knows his rights and that we'd be wasting out time in court. He also let us know that (and I quote) "You are not a priority for me". I'd think that you taking my money makes me a prioritybut what do I know. On further examination of the small print on his contract, he does insert language that says he can take your money and do nothing. Buyer beware- this is outright fraud!!!

I would not recommend Jason Pachenker or Able Concrete to anyone. There were some red flags from…read morethe start that I should have listened to. Once underway, the workmanship was extremely poor. Jason wanted to skip using rebar and use only concrete that was fiber-reinforced. I said no, rebar is a must. Everything was an argument with this guy. Jason eventually demanded payment for work he hadn't done yet. When I said no, he left my project screaming obscenities and never came back. After a couple weeks I told him that if he didn't come back I consider it that he abandoned my project. I mailed him Breach of Contract documents. I ended up having to hire someone else to complete the job. The other crew laughed at Jason's formwork and said they doubted it would have held the concrete pour without rupturing. Search for Jason's prior company Knuckle Down Concrete - all horrible reviews and it looks like the Department of Labor and Industries shut it down. Looks like he also runs a possibly illegal pitbull breeding company. Don't trust this guy. Don't give him any of your money.
