Because this happened on the bottom floor of a townhouse with a concrete subfloor, it was easy to tell where there was no carpet padding despite his insistence that there was. After he left, I lifted up the carpet because I could and saw what a really terrible job he did. Lesson learned: hire a pro to install carpet). Anyway, I found another business on CL (don't judge me! I had wet carpets for weeks and just wanted something anything lol) and I went in person and got a quote the next day. The quote wasn't terrible but I figured I'd look around to see if I could compare it to another. I Googled carpet installation and Google gave me M&S less than a mile away so I drove over (apparently this strip is carpet row and there are a ton of carpeting businesses). The guy behind the counter was lovely and gave me a quote that was almost the exact same as the previous place except for much better quality carpet AND he could send someone to install the next day. Jose showed up, did his thing, and in a couple of hours my previously dank room had cloud level carpeting. I am so happy. It really is the little things. Currently a renter solving an issue for a landlord abroad, but will certainly keep them in mind when I have my own place .

But the install was a little flawed. Simon came out to my home twice to listen to my opinion about the seams I can see. I shouldn't see any seams. I never have with other carpet work I've had done in my home. Even though the words, "We'll make it right. We'll replace it." came out of their mouths on the phone, I was also told, in person, "It looks fine to me. There's nothing wrong with it." So, I'm not satisfied. And I'm tired of thinking about moving everything out of our big den to have carpet replaced just because a seam in the foot traffic pattern shows. I gave up. I'm living with the seam that unraveled in the vacuum sweeper the first time I vacuumed. I would steer clear of having them install the carpet, but the price to purchase the carpet was below the big box guys, if that matters to you. I won't do it this way again.

He said they would stay open however if we were already on the way. It took almost a half hour for us to get there, and when we walked in with our broken cabinet, we were greeted warmly. They didn't have a replacement cabinet however, the owner, Ahmet, went outside to get some tools and came back in and proceeded to try to repair it. He did so without us asking, and did his best to help us. He then gave us instructions on how to most effectively finish repairing it. Although my current needs didn't include fully remodeling, our kitchen or bathroom that job is in scope for us in the next year and I will definitely prioritize plus cabinets doing the work. I'm always most impressed with people and places that show kindness in their delivery of service, even when there is not an expectation of payment. We will definitely be back and recommend to all of our friends.

It's easy to give a company 5 stars after a smooth initial experience. But what TRULY defines a…read morebusiness is how they stand behind their products when things go wrong ...that's where integrity shows. I wasn't planning to use Southern Creations for the premium garage door in my custom build. I already had a competitive quote for the same door & Liftmaster motor from a highly regarded company. My builder convinced me otherwise, saying Southern Creations would match the price & that he'd used them on every build. Only after installation did I learn how they "matched" the price ...by quietly substituting an inferior Genie motor with plastic parts without my knowledge or consent. And I was charged $925 for it - nearly double the retail cost. Within six months the Genie needed repairs. Just after the 12-month mark, the motor unsurprisingly failed again. Southern Creations' response? At first it was "too bad you're out of warranty" - until I contacted Genie myself to dispute that. Now it's pay $1,050 for the Liftmaster motor I had originally requested. TWO motors, over TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS, in less than TWO YEARS. That's their solution. Their website claims they "go the extra mile to stand by their work and their promise." That hasn't been my experience nor that of my two neighbors, who also had to replace their Genie motors installed by Southern Creations within two years. Integrity isn't about what you say on your website. It's about what you do when no one's watching. And on that front, Southern Creations fell far short.
