My garage door spring broke and I was calling around to see who could get to me the quickest due to my garage door not being about to open. I called Precision and they stated that they would waive the service fee of $76 once they replaced the springs. A gentleman comes to my home and has a list of items that he says need to be replaced before he could replace the damaged spring from $960 to $4200 to replace the entire door. It's like pulling into a car dealership and they tell you every possible thing that could go wrong with your vehicle and the fear of crashing if it fails. This company will try to upsell you on everything. I'm surprised that they didn't try to make me sell my house. I called another company and they came out within 3 hours and replaced both springs and didn't try to upsell. He informed me that I would want to think about replacing some items. Did exactly what I asked without an issue. Stay away from Precision if you can. There are plenty of good companies out. I had wonderful service from them today. Chatted with someone on their website a couple of days ago to schedule a visit. Garage door wasn't broken, but we needed a new remote & keypad, so no rush. They said they could come next day, but i scheduled a couple of days out when I would already be home. They gave me a 2 hour window, and showed up near the beginning of that 2 hour window. Called me to let me know when they were 10 minutes out. Alex gave me my options, which were considerably less than what i expected. And he was finished in about 30 minutes. Very professional! So its Thursday and get home about 2pm from work and my garage door breaks...WOW!!! So we call Precision Door and asked if someone could come take a look at it. Sorry our techs are all busy. No problem we'll just call around. Wait a second, put on hold, and they find a tech in our area that'll be able to come by today...sweet!!!! Tech gets there bout 330-4 looks at it and determined no hope for it, and I would agree it was sagging in middle when lifted and top panel has come loose. So we get new door ordered and u gotta put down 50% deposit which on $1600 for door and service...ouch!!!! Ask when it'll be installed and he couldn't answer...yea so I did smart thing and paid 800+ down payment for a door that I didn't know when will be installed. So the next morning about 9a we get call setting up install for Tuesday. So far precision has impressed me. Same day service, next day confirm install, and then tech is right on time Tuesday morning. Professional, nice dude does install and it looks great!!!! So tech leaves and short while later go to pull car back into garage and door no longer raises high enough to pull SUV in without scraping that funny looking antenna on top of it. So we call Precision back to see if tech can come fix it. Looks easy 2 bolts and a pin to adjust it. Sorry all our techs are booked up today REALLY?...cuz I was on your books today too. Sorry we can schedule you for tomorrow. So no one can come fix door I just paid $1600 for so I can pull in garage? Would u like me to schedule u for tomorrow? I'd like it fixed today but whatever. Will this be covered under warranty? IDK there might be a service fee? WTF?????? Lady on phone says she can't say cuz she can't see the door. Hell u put it in TODAY and I still can't use garage. The one who installed door just didn't get it adjusted right....should be easy fix. They're a little bit steep but seems like everything is more expensive now days. I would give them no star but that was not possible. Had the main spring replaced by them. I paid extra to buy the lifetime warranty. It broke yesterday and when their technician came to fix it, told us that it was going to cost over six hundred dollars for the spring and some other parts. Worst people to deal with. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. They serviced my garage and charged insane prices to do so, then tried to up sell me for service I did not need. They replaced the rollers on my garage door and charged $238 to do so. Then the technician tried to convince me that my torsion spring was bad and wanted $769 to replace it. Naturally, I told him I needed to shop around. Another reputable vendor told me that the spring did not need replacing, but if it had, it would cost around $200. And for the job that they performed, would have charged me $80. Additionally, while trying to convince me for a very overpriced, unneeded service, the technician tried to stare me down to intimidate me into saying yes. VERY DISPLEASED. Their estimate doubled from $400 to $800 in ten minutes. Afraid to let them keep going for fear of how much higher the cost would be. They wanted $238 to stop - leaving the door closed, but inoperable. Charge included $15 fuel fee despite having a Little Rock phone number. Owner would not call me back but they did send a new invoice with no charge - after I'd stopped payment on the check to them. WARNING - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Can't believe that I have been told that I will be charged another $65 "service fee" to come back out to review the "bang" sound that my just repaired garage door is making. New springs were purchased and installed on Monday and now there is a large "bang" sound because the cables seem to be snapping against the door every time the door is closed. The technician seemed to want to argue over and over again that it wasn't on warranty so he would have to charge me a fee to come back out only a few days later. IT WAS NOT SNAPPING AGAINST THE DOOR BEFORE, but now after being installed and adjusted it does. I'm not a garage door pro, but it seems like a small adjustment to the cable and attitude and we would be good to go. IT DIDN'T WARRANT AN ARGUMENT with me over an extra fee. Don't be pressured into giving work to this company until you have estimates from other companies. My door stopped working and I called them, not knowing how expensive they are compared to other companies. I needed to get the door working and had no idea what the average cost was. I ended up paying $700 for 2 springs and rollers when other companies would have charged only $300. I should have got other estimates instead of being ripped off.
