Garage door stopped working and couldn't get it to close. I worked on it for over an hour (at midnight) trying to align the sensors. I just couldn't get it and closed it manually. I called Precision the next morning at 7am. The tech was out just a few hours later at 10. He looked everything over, and eventually aligned the sensors that I wasn't able to do. He also dusted grass off the bottom of my door, cleaned the sensor lenses and lubed the spring and moving parts. He gave me a couple helpful tips for the future. The prompt service they provided is excellent HOWEVER, their charges are through-the-roof‼This time all that was needed was a broken spring replacement. they recommended replacing both springs which I was in full agreement with. The repair cost was excessive! They sell green colored springs which I've been told by other garage door companies is nothing more than an advertising gimmick. This was maybe 3 years ago. In Dec 2024 the Chamberlin door opener failed. Is was the original and about 20 years old. Amazon had Chamberlin's best unit on at an unbelievable price for Christmas. Called them and they scheduled me right away for an appointment I also wanted the noise on my garage to decrease as my garage was very loud as it opened and closed. They also addressed that for me. The guy who came to service my garage called before he came and he finished the job in a very timely manner, he also told us what products not to use on the garage and he left a small sample of what we should use and how to apply it to the garage twice a year. I was able to call and get an appointment scheduled and get in on an offer to waive the service fee. The repairmen called me when he was 20 minutes away. He replaced the springs in about 30 minutes. He showed me what he repaired and let the door open and close before leaving. The price did shock me compared to what I was quoted from the other companies, but they didn't follow through. Very disappointed in the service. Poor customer service. I understand that building supplies, etc is difficult at this time. We paid for a gate at the end of May, we were told about 6 weeks. We started calling end of July and kept getting the same message that the builder was taking a long time but should be done in a week and then a week to powder coat. I have been told this message at least ten times. Each time they never called to update or explain why things are continually not what they said. It's been extremely frustrating. They say they will call back but never do and when I ask to clarify that they will call back the same day I have received a rude attitude. We paid everything up front and perhaps that was our mistake - we feel like our investment is being held hostage. It is now September and we still have no gate. EDIT: They came out earlier at the beginning of Sept and installed the gate. They did give us some money back because of the delay. We love our gate and they did a good job. I called last weekend and I got their 24/7 services. I asked if there was a extra fee for the weekend. She didn't give me a straight answer. She said someone will get back with me. She didn't know when they will call back. I left the call as is. I called Monday and I was told someone will be at home Wednesday noon. I asked about the service fee to waved when I mentioned about their online discount. She avoided my request and said that I had to take up with the technician. The technician was on time but he told me that a whole new unit will not be available until next week because they would have to order it. Then they would call me when to put the replacement unit on their time. He told me that he would call the office and they will give me an estimate cost of the repairs. I received the email and the cost was over price. It was over thousand dollars. The replacement unit cost more than two would cost. They made up their own service fee than what the original fee, fuel fee, and labor fee. So, I decided to fixed myself. I saved over $600. I got the replacement unit within two days. It took me less than 30 minutes to replace everything. What a joke! They need to look at themselves for trying take people money. Precision Door Service has visited our home 13 times over the past 5 years to maintain and repair our garage doors and electric front gate. On all of these calls, their technicians were always professional, courteous and responsive. They are busy - which one would expect from a top rated supplier - and so, if not urgent, our call was always answered promptly and the work scheduled. But when our front gate has stopped working, as it did the past week, we typically opt for the after hours emergency service and happily pay a premium. Whether it is maintenance or a repair, I have found their technician explanations to be logical and the associated costs to be reasonable. I write today because of the recent issue we experienced with our electronic gate control panel. I called and their tech, Canyon, was on site within 4 hours. He did his troubleshooting and then contacted the manufacturer. Even though the manufacturer said the panel was in fact installed as per their installation recommendations, and only 1 year into the 5 year warranty, they were not going to cover it because they suspected the cause to be a power surge. Canyon worked late into the night trying to salvage the nearly new panel. Eventually he concluded it was not repairable so he contacted his manager, Terry, who committed to a reasonable solution within 48 hours. True to their word, Canyon was back on site two days later installing a new panel. I asked about the charge and Terry and Canyon said there would be no expense on my part and they apologized for the inconvenience we experienced. He said the company would address the issue directly with the manufacturer. I must say it is exceedingly rare that a supplier, especially in today's profit driven world, becomes your advocate. They offered early next day service but I opted for a first thing Monday appointment since I was headed out of town for the weekend. They showed up promptly as scheduled and provided a detailed quote and tech sheet before starting the job ( also provided a price quote over the phone when I initially called). Install price was very fair compared to doing it myself. Turns out it would have been a nightmare if I did it myself. Determined the "off the shelf" openers at Sears , Home Depot and Lowes do not work with a larger door like I have. They also lubricated the hinges and rollers as a courtesy. Okay, our garage door has been "stuttering" for a while. Not something we have thought about fixing until we had to. Husband found Precision online and we immediately called them to take advantage of the free service call offer. We were told between 12:00 and 2:00pm. Well, to our delight and surprise, Tim called to say he was "running ahead"... How often does THAT happen? He was here by 11:30, did honest work as he explained everything to us, and was done by 12:25. I was most impressed that Tim did not try to upsell but did go through their packages if and when we replace the garage door operating system. Very polite people, I'll give them that. I only dealt with two technicians but from what I saw they cannot diagnose a damn thing. They are parts-changers and their bosses are parts salesman. Also on the high side. If you take anything from this review, let it be this: Get another quote from anyone else. The problem was my door did not stay shut, then when it would rise back up it would not go high enough. Motors have adjustable "limits" to determine how far the door will travel in either direction and they do not need adjusting very often, people. This motor's limits were fine since the last adjustment less than a year before this service call but they assured me it was probably out of adjustment. I said okay you are the professionals, they showed up right on time and got to work. After fiddling with it for maybe 10 minutes he got it to act right. I thought great, it was something simple and I was wrong. Thanks. As soon as they leave I shut my garage door. It's back to refusing to shut. Yes, really. The first shut since they left. I called the office and they reluctantly came back out the next day. I again mentioned, perhaps NOW it seems like there is another problem other than the limit adjustments? They insisted it was still the same adjustment issue. Then that would mean they did it wrong, yes? Either way you look inexperienced. After they screwed with it for a few minutes they gave up and said I might just need a new motor. Sure, fine, I was thinking of calling someone else anyway. They made this hasty "diagnosis" without even removing the motor's shroud. Do you know how long it takes to remove that cover and take a peek? Probably four minutes. So I called and spoke to a man in charge and he refused to even discuss a refund, but he did say that he would help me out and give me a fair deal on a new motor. Okay let's hear it. He told me $399 for a new, Linear brand motor, installed with a warranty. How generous of them, a seemingly okay deal until you call around. I had two different people from two different garage door outfits laugh when I told them about that deal. I called a more qualified man who came out and shared some Precision Door stories with me while he fixed my, still good, motor for $60. The problem was a very worn out bushing on the drive sprocket shaft that allowed the chain to jump around and render any adjustments useless. I waited to write this review to make certain my problem is fixed and it has been so for several months now. The best part is, it took him no time to pop the cover off, see all the slack in the shaft and the obvious metal shavings, and then maybe 20 minutes to replace it and begin setting everything back. The egg heads at Precision couldn't figure this out but again, they didn't really try. When you work for a company that's great at selling new crap to people, why bother trying to actually repair anything? If you are the kind of person that likes to replace things before you need to, call them. read more

I tried really hard to give this a two star rating and I want to say that our technician Brandon was 5-star but the company and our experience was aweful. I called them in mid-April for a garage door that broke. They came out and said it couldn't be fixed and that i would have to replace it. I immediately asked for an estimate and they said they would get it to me tomorrow. After 3 days and a weekend, I called back to check on the estimate. The guy i spoke with said "oh, the door to replace it is around 6k but we can put a steel door in for about half. I'll get an estimate for you tomorrow." I said let's go with the steel. A week later, with no response, I called back. Eventually got an estimate and went with the door. I paid 50 percent up front for the door and was told it would take 2 weeks to be ready. A month later I called and they said it would be in tomorrow and they'll install it the day after that. They kept their word on that but sent 1 guy to take down a wood door and install a steel garage door. Needless to say that was impossible and didn't get done. They said they would call back on Tuesday and set up an appointment to come back out to install. Today is Tuesday and they show up at my house without calling. All said and done, the garage door is installed, but will NEVER do business with again due to the complete failure in customer service from the company. read more

The estimate and installation went off without a hitch. I had my garage door replaced. Didn't need an operator as I had replaced it 3-4 years back which caused the issue. I wanted to smart-enable my garage door so I could open and close it when I'm away from home or just open it a bit before I'm in view of the house so I'm not waiting for the door to raise when I arrive home. Since my opener was older I had to get an Internet gateway. The door was installed but the internet gateway had to be ordered. It was supposed to be in within a couple or three days. I had paid half the price of everything upfront and didn't pay the remainder when the door was installed because the total included the smart-enabling. Well, I called weekly for the next three weeks to get a status but nobody ever called me back. Apparently, I slipped through the cracks. Now, as I said, they had installed a door and I was withholding payment over $200 for the smart stuff so I wasn't out any money by any means. I'm very happy with the price and quality of work. Having said that, I must say I get the most irritated when I can't get a return call or a status when I call. For that, I have to remove a star but these folks are great and I'm very happy with the new door. read more
