Our preparer this year apologized that the cost per form had gone up a bit, but our total wasn't much more than usual, so we can just go with it. And the cost is always deductible for the following year. We make an appointment on a weekend day each year and make a half-day of it. After our 9am appointment this year, we had breakfast while we waited for the computer entry and filing, picked up our info again, and were home by noon.

She even put a line from what I was receiving from Federal and wrote the corrected amount above it reflecting my filing fees. I've been waiting for my state taxes that said were deposited on my emerald card on Valentines day. So I call the office I went to on Court Street and Sandy the receptionist tells me, " Oh no!, We get our fees first out of which ever one gets done first." I'm pleased (so far) with his services. He's done a good job on our taxes now for two years straight after I found him through a recommendation after I bailed on my longtime CPA in Flushing because they fouled up a tax return. Mr. Kubik managed to undo the damage done by my former CPA, and didn't charge me more for the snafu. While the cost of different tax returns will vary, our taxes cost about $150- not too bad.
