You should be ashamed of yourselves! Last year they didn't pay over $100. Well, mom said they have never paid over $100 to get their taxes done. H & I paid $65 last year for ours at an H&R Block facility. So in comparison, this charge is very, very, very indecent! Yes, they can plug in the numbers you give them, but they have no capability to advise on strategy and how to minimize taxes - they are button pushers at their best. I interviewed just about every Block Advisor in the Detroit Metro area and almost none of them knew much about how an S-Corp return even works, but all offered to do it. I gave up while waiting 6 months for them to get around to amend my small business taxes (which they did incorrectly) so I ended up hiring someone else. I've now waited almost 2 more months for a refund and still no sign of it. So much for their maximum return guarantee and 100% satisfaction. I am 100% dissatisfied with their ability to advise and prepare taxes for a small business.

Ok, I'm not going to lie. Despite my very social job I'm a bit of an introvert. In the past, AFS and my accountant Lynne have made the process pretty smooth so my anxiety is definitely not on them. It's totally my own hang up. And because they were so great, I thought the process was as good as it could get for me. UNTIL THIS YEAR! My friends, they have introduced their online portal. I was able to easily (and securely!) upload all my documents, send any notes over via messaging, and a week later my return was processed and e-filed for me. No need for a phone call, no need for a meeting, no need to drive to their office and get sweaty palms over having to talk this stuff out with someone, no need to sign anything and scan or fax it over. It took me 20 minutes pulling all my necessary documents and uploading them and bing bang boom it was all set! I was also a straggler this year and they were able to swiftly take care of everything for me with more than a week to spare! Ha. I will say my returns are pretty easy so you may need a little more TLC and 1:1 time with your accountant but for me it was super easy. Highly, highly, recommend reaching out for next year if you need a new accountant!
