After prefare: Me spending 20 minutes making fresh food that everyone loves without all the waste (i.e. extra ingredients, grocery store time, putting thought into dinner, etc). A+ food, service, and support. 2 portions is plenty for 2 adults + 2 toddlers. The only thing I'd change is telling my family it's Prefare and not just me being an awesome chef. read more

We have been doing Prefare for over a year now and it's my saving grace. So many delicious meals and easy instructions and fresh ingredients and local and right to my door! It's helped me teach my kids how to cook too. Plus the sauces (especially chive oil, and the balsamic vinegar ) are incredible! We keep them and use them on other meals they are just so good. I've tried pretty much every single "meal prep" service from very "DIY" kits to fully prepared meals. This is BY FAR the best service I've had. The cost is reasonable, the prep isn't complicated, and the flavor is EVERYTHING you want it to be. It's amazing how they are able to produce exciting new menu items week over week and include 'in season' fruits and veggies. I also am partial to the Colorado flare as they include green chili and other flavor bursts that are overlooked in other meal services. I have also noticed that the portions are ample. From the perspective of packaging, they creatively ship everything in a very "low-package" approach neatly delivered in reasonably sized containers with reusable ice and delivery bags. Pretty impressive that they beat out all of the biggies (Home Chef, Marley Spoon, Blue Apron, etc). And I don't have to have a whole stock of really strange tools or use 5 different pans or prep spaces. Ordered on a whim at an event they were attending and I haven't looked back in a year! Our daughter introduced us to Prefare more than 6 months ago. We remain Prefare fans after enjoying at least two meals a week for the last six plus months. There have been a few dud meals, but overall this food has been great and the instructions are so helpful. I greatly admire their chief chef Susan and only wish I had 10% of her cooking skills. We have tried some other services but nothing has been comparable to the quality that goes into the food, the planning, and delivery of Prefare. Kudos. The price is very fair and the included premade sauces make the meals special. While this has been a COVID inspired phenomenon, I don't see us quitting even after the pandemic is done. read more

We are really happy with this so far. We've been doing it for a few weeks now. All of the ingredients are super fresh. Some meals are easier to make than others. The majority of them don't seem to be ready to pop into the oven (this is what my husband really wanted) but involve a few steps and probably takes about 20 minutes to prepare. I received lots of spoiled food - meat that smelled very rancid and obvious blue/green mold. This is one of the best meal kits my husband and I have ever tried. The food is fresh and often locally-sourced. There hasn't been a recipe we've disliked. I also love the fact that they will deliver on Sundays and deliver early in the day. Customer service is spot on too. You will get a response from an actual person in a timely manner. We've been Prefare customers for over two years and sadly over the past 6-8 months their quality has consistently gone downhill. We've had to sub our own vegetables for spoiled produce, we've had meals that were so salty we have to throw them out. Last nights carne asada tacos had mayonnaise as sauce - it was supposed to be garlic aioli but it was just mayo, and a very poor quality mayo at that. Tonight we had a pasta bake that literally had a good inch of water at the bottom of the tray after baking. Who wants watery ravioli? It's too bad because at one point Prefare was a fantastic, healthy and very delicious option for meals in Denver. Now every week is a crapshoot. read more

I can't rave about Prefare enough. First the service. They send out weekly emails and reminders for orders. If you don't want to order that week- no problem. It's also easy to change and adapt your order. You can order several weeks in advance to make things simple. The meals are well thought out and delicious! Prefare has a ton of variety. I'm writing this review because I am so thrilled with how our COVID Thanksgiving turned out. We ordered the sides only and every bite was so wonderful. We ordered sides for six even though there were only three of us. Plenty of Thanksgiving leftovers. Prefare is the best and I highly recommend. We have been eating Prefare meals for several months. The menus are diverse, the food is fresh, and the recipes are easy to prepare. It's the first meal service we've used that everyone in our family enjoys. Prefare is great about communicating delivery window times and we have not had any quality issues. We have loved everything we have ordered including the meatballs and the homemade calzones. The restaurant style Mexican is also a crowd favorite. We like that the service offers breakfast, lunch, snack and freezer options each week. There's always something new and fun to try! I've been enjoying meals delivered to my home from this local startup since early on. The owners were delivering, too, lending an opportunity to meet face to face, discussing the recipes and day to day talks. They were my first experience with this sort of service. They are my go to when I feel like cooking, yet they have spoiled me over the competitors because much of the prep work has already been done and my decision to cook doesn't feel like a marathon! This is a beautiful thing! Not only is the effort rewarded quickly, but the dishes are always tasty, and healthy, not to mention zero waste...all without a trip to the store! I am a student, work full time, and have a family to take care of. Prepped/delivered meals have made my life a lot easier but the options are few and not so great. Prefare meals is a local small business and their food is great!!! The options are very healthy and so far even my seven year old has loved everything we have made. I was a Blue Apron customer for almost a year, and while I did like their meals, my last few deliveries veggies came wilted and inedible, and there is a TON of prep work and cooking required. Prefare does 95-99% of the work for you so really you just throw it together and enjoy a healthy homemade meal! They deliver to me once a week, I am currently on the 2 meals/ 4 servings each plan and it really awesome to have 2 days when I know we will be eating good and I dont have to worry about what is for dinner. read more

I am truly enjoying this meal service. We are on our 2nd week and expect two meals for next week. It has exceeded expectations. So the first week we did meals for 2 people and the portions were spot on. Our first meal was a tuna casserole- yeah I know how 70's of us ( and my hubby's fav)- but it was elevated to a much higher level. This was fresh, great spice and so easy. Next we tried a little surf and turf - yum yum yum. Again super easy and really tasty. The portion for two was spot on. So now we have a guest stay for indefinite amount of time (so technically a roommate) and we have bumped up our portions to the four person. This week had falafel- a little more work then the others but so worth it and we had enough for a lunch leftover. I am really excited to see what this week brings. The price is a bit high, but it is worth it for the quality and ease of preparation. Also, it is nice to have a delivery window given and a text once delivery is made. Highly recommend. read more

Prefare has totally saved our weeknights. As two working parents, getting a quality meal on the table every night was starting to feel impossible. We've tried other delivery services (Blue Apron, Hello Fresh, etc.), but despite claims of "30 minute meals," we found they all took at least an hour, only to result in mediocre quality. I love that Prefare is local, 90% of the ingredients are prepped for you, and the meals are creative and delicious. We have been using the service on and off for about a year. We have also tried several other options before choosing Prefare and we will never go back to any other packaged delivery systems after the level of service and quality that we have had with Prefare. First to mention is the little amount of waste that comes with this service. Because it is local and because they have dedicated themselves to efficient delivery, the amount of waste that we experienced is 95% less than delivery services that come in big boxes filled with cooler bags and styrofoam. Prefare is definitely the best meal delivery service I have tried! The price is competitive and the food is yummy, but what really makes the difference for me is two things: 1. the ingredients come mostly pre-prepped (veggies are chopped up, sauces made, etc) which cuts way down on prep time; and 2. Since they are local, they are able to use way less packaging (and they pick up and reuse ice packs). I had a problem with one meal where I thought I was missing an ingredient, and they immediately refunded that one meal. (And in the end, I was totally wrong--the ingredient was actually there--it just looked different than I thought. I explained my mistake and they were very nice about it!) I started this meal delivery three weeks ago and after using three other services (Green Chef, Blue Apron, and Dream Dinners) this is by far the best. The food is fresh, easy, and tastes great. I even had the cod last week (I am so weird about seafood when not restaurant prepared) it was my favorite meal yet. My only suggestion, I would love a caloric/macro breakdown of the meals each week. This is by far the greatest meal prep delivery kit service I've ever had,. All meals cook in about 15-20 min max (it's a rare exception that it takes more time than that). I've tried Blue Apron, Hello Fresh, and Sunbasket. While they were all great meals, they came in huge boxes with a lot of waste, and they took too long to make for a busy, working mom it just didn't fit well with our family. There are about 10 selections each week, vegan, vegetarian, fish, chicken, steak. And now they also do breakfast and brunch which is awesome. They're local too, so when you have an issue, you always get a response immediately. If you are looking for meal prep delivery service, I would say hands down this is the best. Also, they partner with other local businesses like Maria Empanada, Rocky Mountain Slice, Fantasioso foods (homemade pasta), El Pollo Feliz, City Bakery, among others to bring easy meals that you basically heat and serve for good alternatives for nights you don't have time to cook. Plus it is supporting local businesses. Also they do Instapot choices, in the summer barbecue and camping packs, and freezer meat selections (burgers, chicken breasts, steaks, etc that you can put in the freezer to cook later. They also do holiday meals, like Thanksgiving meals, Easter meals, etc. Not only that but every dinner that serves two (which actually feeds our family of four because we have two kids age 4 and 6 who don't eat a ton) is around $22 a meal. When we go to Chick-fil-A or Noodles and Company or Panera, we easily spends $25-30 a meal. So, to get a home cooked meal for that is amazing. I've been with Prefare over 3 years. I know I sound like a walking advertisement for them, but they are honestly the best meal prep service out there! I tell all my friends and family about this. Prefare is a pretty great service. Unlike Blue Apron or one of the other meal delieverly service, prep time is really minimal, and everything can be done in about 15-20 mins. We have also been pleasantly surprised at the meals- really tasty. Also, i like that they deliver on Sunday so we have meals for the beginning of the week, which is always toughest for me. My only gripe is that it is a teenie bit on the pricier side (We do the a la cart ordering and it ends up being about $11/serving) so it's not something we can do every week- but that's pretty close to what the bigger companies charge. My family has been customers of Prefare for the last two years after trying their product at a local farmers' market. We had previously been on Blue Apron. Unlike Blue Apron, the ingredients are usually fresher, and the cooking time is shorter since Prefare creates the sauces for you and par-cooks starches. This results in better flavor, since the from-scratch kits can't develop the necessary flavor in the promised 30 minute cooking time (longer at Denver's altitude.) All you have to do is reheat the starch or cook it, sear or bake the meat, and steam or sautee the veggies - often this happens together in one pan. Dinner never takes longer than 15 minutes. Over the last two years, Prefare has constantly improved packaging, delivery, instructions, and recipes. Unlike any other meal delivery service I've tried, the Asian dishes are now competitive with most restaurants. All you need is a couple pans, a couple pots, some olive oil and salt and pepper to make your meals. It's easy to go online and change upcoming meals to cancel them or switch to alternates including vegetarian, or change the number of meals delivered, so we will often add additional meals when we expect houseguests. read more
