This is hands down the worst company that I've ever dealt with. I don't even know where to begin. I'll just tell the story and you can decide for yourself. About a month and a half before we were scheduled to move to Sierra Vista, we contacted them about a house they had listed for rent. We were told that they wouldn't process an application until we physically viewed the property. First red flag. We've moved 4 times in 5 years and have never physically viewed a property before renting it. Time passes and they list another house three weeks before our move date. This was on a Monday. We contact them about the house within 30 minutes of it being listed. They advised that they would contact the owner for approval for our dog, since he exceeded the weight limit by ten pounds. I get a call the same day confirming the owner approved the additional weight. I told them I would fly in to physically view the property to meet their requirement. They told me the current tenant would contact me to arrange a walkthrough. The current tenant contacts me and advised that they will be out of town until late Sunday and asked if Monday afternoon would work. I accepted and made plans to be the first to view the property on Monday. Friday rolls around and I decide to call them to determine if a paper or electronic application is preferable. At this time, I'm told that they're unsure if the owner will decide to sell or rent and they won't know until at least Tuesday. They probably should have contacted me to provide this update. I decide to look at the house anyways and if the owner decides to sell, I may put in an offer. On Monday I viewed the property as planned and had to leave town immediately to catch my flight. I called my husband and told him to contact the company to submit an application. However, he is notified that they've already received an application that is currently being processed. We can submit an application in case the first application is denied. As I was driving to the airport, I called and they acknowledged that we were the first to inquire about the property after it was listed and I was the first to complete a walkthrough but the people that submitted the application viewed the property "a few months ago" and just received orders to Fort Huachuca. They couldn't answer when this viewing actually took place or provide additional details. I'm beside myself and livid at this point. I asked if the application was submitted today, when the owner confirmed that they wouldn't be selling and was told no. So, you accepted an application prior to knowing if the house was going to be put up for sale? None of this makes sense. I then asked if they thought they should have contacted me if they knew they already had an applicant. The response was "well, we probably should have." You think? Anyways, we proceed with submitting our application and were notified via TEXT that the first application was approved. Stay away from this company! I have never had such a poor experience and they don't care! Terrible customer service and unethical business practices! read more

We did not end up renting from them (even though they had our favorite house) because the whole process they were extremely rude. The email responses we received came across as rude. We called to set up various appointments and were treated very rudely. Even after all of that, we still gave them the benefit of the doubt and set up an appointment to see 5 houses (all which we would have rented). We were discriminated from the the very first time the broker (Nancy...I think that was her name) showed up at the house. She did not acknowledge us with a greeting at the doorstep, just started digging through her purse for the keys and was constantly on her cell phone during all of the viewings. We asked to negotiate one of the rent prices and we were denied by her, but after we had rented the price of the house went down on the website. Needless to say we went with Long Realty, and they have been great to us. read more

We used this property management for our investment property rental. We lived out of state and trusted the property would be well taken care of. After making the decision to retire and move to Sierra Vista in to our house, we slowly started to see more and more things that were wrong. We were told there was a walk through with the former tenants. We found cracked tile, cobwebs in the shower (we were told a cleaning service was hired to clean) knob on stove didn't fit because it was obviously replaced with another knob, toilet paper holder fell off the wall, we were told the place was rekeyed but the back door doesn't lock at all and we can only lock the screen door, closet door in a bedroom was damaged, thermostat didn't work so we froze for the first couple weeks, blinds in walk in pantry damaged. After we moved in Debby DeRosa was suppose to pick up the lock box and apparently showed up without us knowing so she could avoid us. We talked to a neighbor and was told the yard was in bad shape with weeds growing around and it was the worst looking house in the neighborhood. The management company never checked on the house or notified us of any problems. We thought we would be able to retire and relax but it's been a nightmare getting repairs and lawn work done. As long as Debby is getting her cut in "managing" the property, she doesn't care what the tenants do to the home. Don't use Preference Properties, they aren't able to keep their employees. In the three years we rented out our property, we kept in contact with two ladies that are no longer with the company. When I inquired about the last woman that handled our house, Ms. DeRosa sternly told me to delete the phone number and email of the woman and she talks down to people. read more

Just moving to the area as an owner of a home in another state I expected much more. This company is very unprofessional and we will never rent from them again. They do not know how to return phone calls in a timely manner. They are not willing to do anything which does not benefit them. Debby was rude to my children and to us. As a homeowner myself, I expect a very high status of standards when I look for someone to manage my property. When I moved to Sierra Vista, I was thrilled that those same expectations are with Preference Properties. I understand that there are those who have been less than excited with their time; however, my experiences have been quite the opposite. We were able to quickly rent and move in, given our needs they made sure we were able to see the house at a bizarre time and file paperwork in a rapid turnaround. They provided us with a list of expectations for maintenance and as a homeowner I think that's critical to minimizing repairs due to neglect later on. Nancy has a great personality and is very professional in every interaction, she is prior military and it shows. She works hard to protect her renters, buyers, and homeowners and I think her company has many more satisfied (but not as electronic) clients than are reflected here on Yelp. Great company to rent from. Their houses are priced better than any others we could fine and infinitely cleaner. Don't get me wrong, they require you to hire professional cleaners upon your departure, but that's a fine trade off to move into a pristine home versus the other dumps we looked at in SV. They were always responsive and rent payment was incredibly easy with auto pay on the website. Absolutely no issues and would recommend for those who are looking for nice rentals and will leave the house in the same or better condition than when they arrived. We receive the full security deposit back because we took care of the place, which isn't much to ask for. Would definitely recommend. read more

The issue I have with Preference Property was being issued PCS orders as a DA civilian employee half way through my lease. They would not consider giving me any relief from breaking the lease as I'm not active duty, even though I don't have any choice in the PCS. If you are a DA civilian employee transferring to Fort Huachuca, I would be hesitant in renting from Preference Property. I talked with a few rental property investors and they would take care of someone who received PCS orders whether they were active duty or not. read more

Where to begin, the house that we rented for a 14 month period was a great solid house in a safe quiet neighborhood. The costumer service that we experienced however was not so great. My husband and I were very disappointed by the manner in which the owner and staff run their business. We paid our rent on time every month and we kept the house clean and maintained. Our philosophy has always been to leave a place better then you found it. Once my husband was transferred we informed the owner that we would be leaving, this is when the fun began. We had to hire a private house cleaner, carpet cleaner and pest control from an approved list. We were told that if we went with one of the vendors this could cover both carpet and house cleaning. The cleaning bill alone was $500 for a house that was clean and no damage. The pest control was $45. Preference properties requires a receipt from each place and when I asked why I was told that the company could charge us double the cost. During the walk through the owner went through the house touching every surface. She told us that the cleaner would have to come back to clean the house again. The ceilings at the house are high ceilings and we were unable to change the light bulbs. We did however buy light bulbs for the maintenance man to change them for us. We were told we would be charged for each light if they changed them. The landscaping at the house was a desert landscape with 3 bushes, during the walk though we were told the largest bush which was there the whole time we lived there was a weed and needed to be removed. We were again informed that if we did not remove the "weed" we would be charged. Once my husband dug it up he noticed there was a sprinkler system that ran to the "weed". Another thing to be aware of with this company is that if the 1st of the month falls on a Saturday or Sunday you must have the check in their office that Friday. They do not have a drop box to drop off rent checks. My overall review is just to inform other families that the service we received was not good and to just be aware of hidden fees or charges. There are better rental companies in Sierra Vista who I am sure would treat you much better. read more
