I had them replace wall to wall carpeting in 5 rooms and the connecting hallway and their service was exceptional at every step of the process. Within two hours of walking into their store, they came to my home to take measurements. I received a very reasonable quote the next morning , revisited the store to choose the carpet and setup installation. I was told it would take two days. The installers showed up on time and were courteous, professional, and so efficient, they finished the job in one day, including removal of old material. The installation was flawless. Used them a few times. Never a problem. I like to use the local stores. However this last time. Nothing but aggravation. We gave room measurement. Picked out a remnant. He insisted it would fit. Ok. They come to install. And installer says we are short. And it's our fault. Gave wrong measurement. Room was exactly what we said! So now we need another carpet. Only thing he has in the color we want is commercial carpet. We agreed since we are pressed for time. They seamed the carpet in an L shape which left the seam in a horrible spot. And to boot they seamed carpet really really bad. So obvious where seams are. I would never ever recommend them to anyone. Horrible installation. Oh and one of the installers was so mad that he said. Does not deliver as promised and I was Totally disgusted with the service and treatment I got. I was much happier with the service and price from Lowes, I regret not using them again. I recently needed to buy new carpeting for a rental property of mine in Queens. I stopped into Preferred and met the manager Allen. I explained I needed carpet that was good quality and wear well but did not want to spend a lot. He actually had a very large selection of choices on display at 50% OFF retail. I picked from rolls and rolls carpet on display in their large showroom and he had it flawlessly installed in a couple of days. I had a great experience. They have a great selection (go in and talk to someone, there is more than meets the eye). I am an interior designer and have done plenty of shopping around. There are some nice options at really reasonable rates. Carpet was selected (I did a custom runner for my stairs)ordered, and installed within 2 weeks. Great job in the install and the carpet pad is really plush. Feels fantastic. The customer service was great. I dealt with Dave, who was very helpful and professional. He really went the extra mile. They did an edge binding and he wasn't sure I would like the color. He called me to come and look and changed it to my liking free of charge. I really appreciated that attention to detail. This is the third time I have bought carpet from Preferred Floors. I have had decent experiences with them, so went back. I also dealt with Alan, who basically let us loose in the store and was unavailable for questions. He also does not communicate effectively. My complaint at this point is not keeping me informed about the installation time, after I called every 2 hours since 10 AM. He says he'll call back and doesn't. Then they give untrue info, like they're loading the truck and should be here in a half hour, say they leave voicemail with the installers, having a busy day. You name it. WORK WITH ME, GUYS!!! Truthful info is all we want! What's so hard about that? Installers finally came at 4PM. They verified that they came straight from Manhattan, so Alan and his associate, Florence, have not been telling the truth at all. These installers were working on laying the carpets for over 4 hours. I have no complaint with the quality of the installation, or the carpet itself. However dealing with the people at the storefront is another matter. My advice would be to keep yourselves informed, make sure you get the answers you need. Get an installation appointment for first thing in the morning, 'cause these guys are poor on the customer service. read more

I have been dealing with Preferred Floors of Whitestone for 30+ years! Allan was the owner forever. Looking at the reviews below, I see he must have been losing it towards the end! I had a large portion of my son's home carpeted about 1 to 1 1/2 years ago. My son had a very bad experience with the installer. He came with his wife and young son and came very late in the day and was there until about 11:30 p.m. I couldn't understand what was going on but the carpet install seemed to go fine, so my son put up with the experience. Recently my son mentioned to me that the carpet was stretching and buckling up in a few spots. I went in and found that there was a new owner, Dave. My first thought was, oh boy I'm not going to get anything from a new owner. After all he wasn't there when the carpet was installed, he didn't make any money on the order. Why would he repair it??? Well, he did!!! He sent his man over with new updated stretching equipment and everything was fixed perfectly. What more could someone ask? He took over the business sometime in the Spring of 2016 and if you look at the reviews since them, they are all 5 stars. I purchased my carpets from Preferred Floors of Whitestone upon a recommendation and I REGRET IT!!! Everything seemed great at first...price, service, selection...HOWEVER, after 2 years, the carpet in one of my son's rooms is bubbling up forming little "mountains" in the center of the room. It apparently has "stretched out" according to the workers at Preferred Floors of Whitestone. The ironic part is that this was the most expensive carpet that we purchased from them! Why would it "stretch out"??? They did not have an answer and they want to charge ME for it! They didn't install it properly and now they want me to live with this hazard in my son's room??? The kids are always tripping over it! After installing the carpet in my youngest son's room, I had to call them (a week later) to re-staple it because it was coming up from the sides! ABSURD!! We called them and argued with them that we should not have to pay...but he insisted that they only guarantee their work for ONE year....to which my husband responded, "So you are telling me that every two years this is going to happend and I will have to get it fixed? You guys basically do not guarantee your work to last more than that?" We got no response...just a "I will call you back". HE NEVER DID!! It is not even the money that is the issue...it is the PRINCIPLE!
