We have been unfortunate to have been patients that are forced to use Preferred Homecare for about 13 years. My disabled child requires the use of a G-Tube and Preferred is the only DME vendor in the state that accepts her disability Medicaid, and Medicare. I would give them no stars if I could. We have so many problems over the years, that if we receive her nutrition supplies without incident, I start to think something strange is going on. Orders from doctors are constantly lost, orders get shipped to the wrong place, or we are sent the wrong items or shorted items on a regular basis. Calling the office does nothing. Each time you call you get a different representative, who tells you a different story. There is never a supervisor available, they are either off, at lunch, or don't have a phone number. The straw that has broken the camel's back is that my child has been hospitalized for the past couple of weeks. She is better and could have been discharged 5 days ago, but cannot leave the hospital until we receive a machine from Preferred. The order was sent almost 2 weeks ago, to Preferred, and we, the case workers at the hospital, my insurance company agents, DDD Case Manager, pulmonologist have all been given a encyclopedia's worth of excuses why delivery is severely delayed. In the meantime my child who ready for discharge, has to occupy a bed in the hospital until Preferred decides when her discharge is a priority. Five days ago, we were told the delay was due to my ins plan requiring pre-certification, so I contacted my plan to expedite the order, and my plan informed me, pre-cert was not required. In reality, I doubt my child's order has been touched by anyone, and that's why my plan and her Medicaid plan could not find any claims from preferred for this equipment. It's beyond frustrating. Due to Preferred gross negligence, not only is my child taking up resources and space that another sick child needs, but they are putting her health at risk, because she could catch a respiratory virus while hospitalized. Not to mention the fact that we live 2 hours away from the hospital, so it's not like we can go home at night. I have been told by nurses, case workers, and the physicians that it routinely takes Preferred Homecare weeks to fulfill an order for DME, and that patients will have to stay at the hospital for 2-3 weeks, and sometimes months, past their discharge date. This is unacceptable. This qualifies as massive waste, especially under the Medicare and Medicaid's Fraud Waste and Abuse. This company services the needs of the most vulnerable among our communities; Adults and children with Disabilities, adults and children with chronic illness, and the elderly. These patients are not prioritized, or treated with dignity or respect. The majority of employees at preferred don't have any empathy for these patients and they certainly do not treat them like they are any type of priority. They know they have monopoly because Medicaid and Medicare patients have no other choice, and they treat the patients like the patients needs for DME are the lowest priority in the world. There is no sense of urgency or obligation to patients. There is no way for patients, prescribers, caseworkers, or other advocates to demand accountability or have recourse. The people working for this company should be ashamed of themselves. They are failing the patients they serve in a the worst way possible, and also putting these patients lives at risk with their negligence. I encourage anyone who is having problems getting their DME, reach out to the Department of Justice tip hotline for Medicare Fraud Waste and Abuse and report this company for waste. Maybe if the department of Justice gets enough complaints, they will investigate to find out why this company is costing the tax payer millions of dollars and putting patient lives at risk due to their negligence in expediting orders for DME. read more

Preferred home care is owned by Lincare! Which they are going through a major system change. If you were on autopay before you would have to set up again with customer pay told it's an internal transfer after waiting on the phone for 30+ minutes but was given the number 888-239-8105. If you are calling to make a payment you can do so using 888-239-8105 ext 80077 this is an automated phone system. Or online at Lincare.com - Bill pay, you need to enroll as a new customer accept the terms and conditions. It will ask for your customer id number (THIS MUST BE ENTERED WITH ONLY NUMBERS DO NOT INCLUDE THE (-). Date of birth enter as MMDDYYYY and billing zip code. You can also set up autopay online (also known as recurring payments) must be set up 10 days after your billing cycle date. If on autopay/recurring payments you will get a bill in the mail it will NOT SAY AUTOPAY is on. It will look like a regular bill. Hope this helps. read more

BEWARE & AVOID going to this rip-off facility. If I could I'd give them -100 stars. One of the worst facilities. The stuffs are very rude and will try to lowball you even you use Medicare or any other insurance. They will also try to lie and give you used unit CAPA/APAP, or intentionally won't give you everything that comes with CPAP/APAP, then will also try to sell you the things that originally came with the unit. read more

I am tied to them for my equipment because of my insurance company, otherwise I would never, never, never do business with them. Get the hint - never ! Been waiting on a hospital bed for a week! Every day I call and I'm told (it will be there tomorrow between 1p-8p) and no one ever calls or shows up!!
