Two 1/2 weeks ago, I found myself desperately seeking placement for my elderly father who has moderate dementia. He had been rehabbing at a SNF for 12 weeks, and when discharged, his memory care facility of 12 months refused to take him due to an increase in services that he needed. They notified at 4:30 PM on a Friday that they were refusing my dad, forcing me to request an extension of his discharge, and he was scheduled to be released on Monday.
