So check it out we drove from Ls Vegas up to Mt. Charleston and then down and around and in to Parhump. We did nit have a place to stay and we can meet across the Preferred RV Resort. At first it wasn't much to look at but the guy working the front gate was nice and our neighbor was KOOL. It turned out the neighbor who lived at the RV park also worked across the street as a cook. We ended up eating dinner at the restaurant he worked at and the food was good. No plans to ever go back to the this pet of the world but if we do I would stay at this RV pro again. The people weee nice and for the most part the place was clean.

We stayed here for a month and paid for the monthly fee. Everyone here was friendly and welcoming. There are big trees all around the resort which shaded the area nicely. It was needed because it was HOT outside! The swimming pool is an indoor/outdoor pool. It was nice and clean. They do have pretty strict rules but I didn't mind, it kept me at peace not having to worry about someone jumping in the pool on top of my little ones. Laundry facilities are on site next to the pool making it convenient to wash clothes if needed. They have a playground, green grass and a gazebo with beautiful, large koi fish swimming in the pond. It's a nice place to stay and in the middle of town.

Great park with great staff

Is this place family friendly?

We do have quite a few families in the resort at any give time, and we welcome that, but most of our amenities and activities are geared toward an older crowd.

The booking…read morewas confirmed, but I was immediately sent a message saying that check-in is only allowed until 9 PM due to "quiet hours." I requested a cancellation and refund, but they declined. This is not how other RV parks operate -- late arrivals are usually handled easily by assigning a site in advance or allowing you to park and register in the morning. Instead, they chose to confirm my booking, then tell me it couldn't be fulfilled, and still keep my money. That is extremely poor customer service. The management was unfriendly and unprofessional. I would not recommend wasting your time or money here.

He and the other staff members keep the campground in great shape and this was definitely the best private campground I've ever stayed. There are RV and partially shaded tent sites (we stayed in tents) and a number of surprising amenities, including a pool, laundry facilities, clean bathroom/showers, and a remarkably large and well-stocked library. It was beautiful staying under the stars and listening to bullfrogs singing in the wetlands. Some great trails and an endangered pupfish pond are within an easy walk and a gas station, restaurant, and museum are very close by, too. Can't wait to visit again!

Administered by the US Department of Agriculture's Forest Service, the entrance is just 17 miles from Hwy 95 on Rte 157 or 45 minutes (and a world away) from the hustle and bustle - and heat - of the Las Vegas strip. Sunday. We started at the Visitor Gateway, where there are helpful staff and maps to help you to plan your stay. In addition, there is a gift shop, clean restrooms, an amphitheater, picnic areas, and trailheads to the Pack Rat Route and the Escarpment Trails. Next on our itinerary were a pair of scenic drives. From the Visitors Gateway, we traveled a short distance on Rte 157, until intersecting with Rte 158, which took us up the windy mountain road. We passed the entrances to The Resort on Mount Charleston, various trailheads, picnic areas, and campgrounds. We stopped at the Desert View Overlook, walking the short interpretive trail and taking photos. We continued in Rte 158 until we intersected with Rte 156, which we took left to the Lee Canyon ski area, passing picnic areas, campgrounds, and trailheads along the way. We then turned around, and went back down the mountain. Upon again intersecting with Rte 157, we took it to its terminus at the Mount Charleston Lodge. Our final destination was our campsite at the Fletcher View Campground (reviewed separately). Monday. We returned to the Visitors Gateway, and did the two "more difficult" hikes that originated there -- the Pack Rat Route (only 0.4 mi) is short, paved, and very steep. If you do it as a loop, the trail is somewhat washed out towards the end. Pack Rat connected to the 2.4 mile Escarpment Trail, which takes you above the cliffs and to some wonderful mountain views. Both of these trails are for hiking only. No bikes or horses. Some things to note: *The Visitors Gateway provides a good map of the area which I've posted a Yelp (in Spanish). It shows trails (including hiking, cycling, equestrian, and interpretative), campgrounds, picnic areas, restrooms, etc. *The map also highlights the trails in the NRA, with ratings of easy to moderate to more difficult to most difficult. It also provides distances, but not elevation changes. *When we were there (May, 2024), at least 6 trails, including the popular Mary Jane Falls Trail, were closed due to storm damage.
