First 7 campsite before 2 more being setup on MY Site.

I've been camping for years and have never had an experience like this. The 2nd night at my site, 14 people showed up next to me in a single site with 5 cars. The people were racking the ground all over the area, flattening parts to set up tents. As they were doing this, the camp host along with the forest rangers drove by (multiple times). The workers would just watch the people racking the ground, violating rules, and go on their way without saying a word. One of the men staying at the site asked me if he could pitch a tent on my tent pad, which I said "no." Having people close would cause my dogs to bark. He said "ok" and went on to continue to set up. Later on in the night, the group continued to be loud. I tried ignoring the noise, telling myself "let them have a good time". 2am came around and I could not take it anymore. To add on to this, the campsite on the other side of us also had shown up with a group. This group was larger. We counted 18 people and 5 tents (single site) before going into our camper. So I had two groups on both sides of my campsite who were also partying loud at 2am. The next morning, I woke up, looked outside and saw two additional tents that were set up on MY campsite, next to my fire pit. This is the group I said "no" to pitching a tent on my tent pad and now they have two tents they set up at night so I couldn't say "no". I did address this and they responded saying they were leaving soon anyways. Mind you, all these tents were HUGE and blocked our beautiful view. I have never experienced something like this before. I was very disappointed in the hosts, who were well aware of all these tents and cars at both sites. I expected more, since rules are meant to be implemented for a reason. I hope this review changes the way the campsite operates.

Summertime means a lot of things to different people, and for me, it means it's camping season! If you're looking for a great mountain retreat close to the city, but removed enough to enjoy nature without wifi, McWilliams campground is definitely the place to check into for a weekend. The campground is located in Lee Canyon, about an hour outside of Las Vegas, and has 75 campsites which accommodate both tents and RVs (but in my opinion, you're not really camping unless you have a tent and have no TV or climate control.) This campground is definitely a favorite go-to spot for me as it checks all the boxes for a mountain camping retreat minus the bears. As added perks, it has the perfect amenities for a little more comfort when camping, including potable water and fully functioning restrooms. McWilliams Campground is a developed campground for both tents and RVs in the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area near Las Vegas, NV. In late July and early August when it's well over 100 °F in Las Vegas, around 50 miles west to this campground and the weather could potentially be anywhere from 20-40 degrees cooler. The thermometer in our truck read 106°F while we were cruising on the US 95 Highway (aka Veterans Memorial Highway). By the time we reached our campsite at about 3:30 p.m., it read 66°F on 7/31/18. Then rain poured down while we sat up camp. Then it drizzled a while. Then it was gone by the time we were done setting up. Hahaha... If you like the show The Vikings, you may think to yourself "Thor!" when the thunder rumbles here. It gets intense. Or maybe it's just been a while since I've heard a real thunderstorm... Sites are dry. No electrical hook-ups. No sewer/water. Closest dump stations to my knowledge are in Pahrump or Las Vegas. There are vault and flush toilets. Water spigots. Our site had two picnic tables. A grill & campfire ring. Recycling and trash bins nearby. TIPS - dogs allowed - the Spring Mountain Gateway Visitor Center and the Silent Heroes Of The Cold War National Memorial are a short drive away... that's where you'll probably get the best cell phone service 2018 Yelp challenge #170

I took my Mom and my son this March and we had such an amazing time. The camp lady was VERY nice and super helpful! I highly recommend visiting

This is our go-to spot for family camping trips. There's no cell service or internet, which I love. They accept online reservations for most of the sites. Pictures of each site can also been seen on the reservation website. All the sites seem to be nice, a little close together but not too close. Each site has a fire ring, picnic table, parking spaces (some fit RV and multiple vehicles), pad for a large tent (our 10-person tent fits perfectly), table for camp stove, bbq, and there are bathrooms and water pumps close-by. The bathrooms are surprisingly clean! This is a great camping spot even if you're an inexperienced camper.

Great place to go camping usually the weather in the summer is about 30° plus cooler then Las Vegas. The Dolomite and Mcwilliams campground have been combine now it's only McWilliams. We love walking the entire campground. It's a great work out it's close to a mile and a half. For those of you that cannot be without Internet service it is definitely not the place for you there is no Internet service at the campground you have to drive down about 7 miles down the road to get service.

Clean place, clean restrooms, roads are easy to get around. Since there is water and large restrooms, showers could be added. Also if there was a Rv dump you could stay longer. Nice and quiet. Sites are well thought out. Be nice to our forest & bring your own firewood.

CONS: Not a lot of privacy due to lack of trees which is understandable in the almost-wide-open desert, sometimes there are very high winds, closed during some summer months which is wise due to the crazy high temperatures. We love it, but just know you'll be in the desert. It's not like camping in a forest or next to a creek.

Just 3 miles from the Red Rock Scenic Drive & Visitor Center and about 20 miles, and a world away, from the Las Vegas strip. The conservation area features hiking, rock climbing, bike riding, horseback riding. and scenic driving (reservations required October 1-May 31, 8 am-5 pm). Be mindful of the weather. Temperatures are scorching in the summer, and the campground closes seasonally during the hottest months (June 1-August 31). All standard sites include picnic tables, grills, and fire pits. (Some, but not all, picnic tables are covered -- a welcome sight on a HOT day). There are common vault toilets, trash cans, and drinking water (but no facilities to fill water tanks or to dispose of RV waste). All sites are nonelectric. The views within the campground are of a unique and pretty desert landscape, but they are not as spectacular as the scenic drive area just a few miles away. Temperatures were hot but bearable during the day and cooled nicely at night. The price was reasonable for a standard nonelectric site. $25 camping use fee, minus $12.50 discount for senior NPS pass, plus $8 online reservation fee = $20.50 for one night. Only two small quibbles to mention. (1) The signage within the campground could be improved. We had site 42 and drove around a few times before finding it. (2) There were quite a few restrooms with vault toilets. Each building had two separate rooms with toilets -- BUT the campground locked one side on two of the restrooms that we tried so only one toilet was functional. This created a queue in the morning. We would stay here again.

I wasn't able to use the shower, bathroom or laundry without having to traverse to the opposite side park each time to do so. I brought this up to management and asked for a refund, but she kept on bringing up irrelevant things that had no bearing on the situation like, I should have reserved an rv spot even though I didn't have an rv( the rv's on that side of the park had the same issue, but probably had toilets in their campers ) or I should have booked a tent site at the front of the park since I'm clairvoyant and should know instinctively that the back of the park was out of order. Bottom line is this park has no accountability, they won't admit to mistakes. This park is also impossible to navigate after dark since many of the site numbers aren't visible, often pointed in the opposite direction of travel. Simply put, you didn't offer a service I couldn't have gotten from a free rest stop, you've only provided frustration . Give me my money back.
