So far so good. Our kinder experience at Basis Tucson Primary has been a lot better than our prek…read moreexperience at Leman Academy. The school strongly emphasizes academics and kids are given letter/percentage grades like high schools do. Yes there's pressure but nothing we can't handle so far. My complaints: 1. De-prioritization of physical activity. You have to put your child in an after school club (more money) for dance, bowling, and other movement-based activities. I had the opportunity to volunteer to help with hot lunch once. I learned a lot. Like just how short lunch is; it explained why my daughter was hungry but had uneaten food in her lunch last semester. Volunteering has opened my eyes and I started packing her lunches a little differently 2. It's a charter school so they have to raise money. However, the fundraiser updates in the app are ridiculous. Class vs class, grade vs grade. Everyone hurry and donate before the deadline...use the AZ tax credit...oh the deadline has been extended so you can donate more (no surprise) None of the issues I mentioned are major to me. Why? Because my kindergartener is reading, can read digital and analog clocks, she can add double-digit numbers, etc but her friends who are in 1st and 2nd grade in TUSD schools aren't there yet. The academic advantage Basis provides is unparalleled without attending an expensive private school But there are pros and cons to each school and I've included a couple for potential parents considering the school

At the beginning of the school year, my grandmother passed away, and during that horrible time I asked for support to help keep my son on track with his assignments. I was told to rely on his communication notebook, but felt that wasn't enough given the circumstances. Near the end of the final trimester, I was informed that my son was at risk of failing math. I was frustrated because this was the first time I had been made aware that he was struggling. I was told there had not been any concerns before then and that he should begin attending student hours. Earlier communication (in addition to seeing some poor grades in cj which only suggested that we implement new study habits) would have allowed us to address the issue before it became so serious. Parent teacher conferences were unhelpful. Unfortunately, attending student hours was also challenging. If a student arrives even a FEW minutes late, they are not permitted to join because it would "disrupt" the ongoing session. The morning drop-off procedures can be difficult to navigate, as the gates are opened on a very strict schedule. On one occasion, I had to park and walk my son into school before 7:30 a.m., and by the time we reached student hours we were only a couple of minutes late. He was not allowed to attend. Ironically, had it been 7:31 a.m., I could have used the drive-through drop-off instead but would have been late to student hours. There were also several school policies that made the experience more difficult for our family. Students were not allowed to play tag on the playground, school lunches were not provided, and the after-school program was very costly even with scholarship.

She finished up her senior year earlier than expected, and still the teachers and staff email her to check in and see how she is doing. They TRULY care about their students. Edge provides an environment which allows self- paced work, flexible assignment due dates and also the one- on- one in case the student needs assistance. It's also a shorter day. I give 5 stars because the principal went out of his way to go above and beyond on many occasions and one particular math teacher exceeded our expectations more than once, and shows they really care about your student succeeding. They will go to great lengths to ensure your child gets everything they need. Although they are extremely liberal and focus a lot on "political correctness", the staff is mostly understanding of all backgrounds and because of its small size, they can stay on top of bullying complaints and do their best to keep everyone focused. If your child has trouble focusing with the longer school days, needs some help but can work independently, has trouble with time management, or has things like special medical issues/ an afternoon job/ a kid, or other things that could hinder their graduation, this is a school that will help them succeed

You'd better be prepared to sit, listen, and take notes for the full 2 or 3 hours if you want it to be worthwhile. Since they have been doing exam reviews for so long they have acquired previous exams from teachers and possible questions for upcoming exams to help you do the best you can! The tutor is so knowledgable and is able to lecture on everything from Econ (which he has saved my grade in) to Spanish to Eller entrance exams! They are able to cram an entire month's worth (or more) of material in to a few hours and make it make sense. I wish all of my classes were like this! If you're the least bit worried about an upcoming exam, be here! The 20 or 25 dollars you'll spend will be worth it when you see that A on your graded test!

I had no prior knowledge of finite before taking it this year and would not have done near as well as I did had I not done this program. I went to class everyday and went to tutoring three times a week for 50minutes. I learned the material much better in one 50minute session of tutoring than I did in two class periods. The tutors at CTS take time to make sure their students understand the material and give plenty of practice problems that you do not get just attending class. The exam reviews were extremely helpful and covered all the material that was on my exams. I finished with a B+ in this course and would not have had I not enrolled in this program. It is a great investment and I highly suggest it.

(A little background info is that during Robert's freshman year in Algebra I, his teacher was dismissed toward the end of his second semester. He spent his last 2 months without an instructor.) We were concerned at the beginning of this year that maintaining an A in Algebra 2 and a 4.0 might be really challenging considering the past. We requested info on a tutor from his daily math teacher. We were referred to Alex Couch. This has been an absolutely wonderful experience for my son. Ms. Couch thoroughly explained the expectation of her tutoring sessions. It has helped in so many ways. Not only are the topics explained and practiced, but there is time set aside for questions and any additional help needed. My son has had the opportunity to go over homework and test reviews. Most important to us, is that he is confident going into his tests! We are now moving into the end of the semester and my son has a 101 in his Algebra 2 class. We are so thankful to Ms. Couch and would highly recommend her services. We will be continuing on with her during our son's second semester.
