First, I accidentally wrote down the wrong appointment time and arrived 15 minutes late. I understand having policies for no-shows and late arrivals, but being charged a fee for an honest mistake was a tad disappointing. More importantly, while I think the healthcare providers here are extremely knowledgeable i often left feeling like my concerns weren't fully taken seriously. Confidence and expertise are important but so is listening to patients when they feel something isn't right. Sometimes a little more digging is required Because my symptoms continued, I decided to seek care at a different office, and I'm thankful I did. What I had been dealing with appears to have developed into something much more serious. I can't say whether earlier intervention would have changed the outcome, but it has made me wonder if my concerns should have been looked into more closely from the beginning. I'm sharing this in the hope that it encourages providers to listen carefully to their patients. Feeling heard and taken seriously can make a significant difference in a patient's experience and, potentially, their care.

However…read morethis morning when I arrived I realized I did not have my insurance card and was told they could not reach out on my behalf, no problem. After searching through emails and being unable to locate any information for them I asked if I could call my pharmacy and get the info from them since I knew they had just used it to fill a script for me, they said sure try it. After getting them the info I was then told that I'd need to reschedule as I was past my appointment time and I'd also have to pay $40 for missing today's appointment...all while standing in their office the entire time. This is my annual and it also requires me to fast overnight and they did not have another early morning appointment available for the reminder of this month and I told them my insurance expires at the end of the month. I've never had a front desk be so completely unwilling to work with me on something like this and this was with me actually being INSIDE their office, when I begged if there was anything they could do the receptionist told me I was one min late to my 8:15am appointment and I should have arrived earlier....I told her I came straight from dropping my children off at school and am a single mom...she still didn't care, I even asked why she didn't being this up while I stood there on the phone, I could have cash paid for the office visit and given them insurance for running tests....she just shrugged and said it was their policy. I never post reviews but this was over the top for me and her lack of empathy was unreal. I will unfortunately be finding a new doctor after this experience.

My nurse has always been amazing, she's always been friendly, kind, and knowledgeable. My doctor has always been super cool! Very knowledgeable. Pleasant personality. Made it very comfortable and safe to deep drive into personal health issues. He's just an overall great person. Give this office and staff a try. I came in Monday with a long list of symptoms. I was diagnosed with Strep.and given antibiotics. Today I'm worse. My symptoms are in line with COVID19 but there is no testing here or anywhere near. So the only as advice is to self isolate as a precaution and take another round of antibiotics for the Strep. Thank you Brookwood for being open and serving our community the best you can!!

Also, I was informed most of her appointments are taken by the PA who has "been with them for several years" and "does everything the doctor does." This is "their normal practice" apparently. I've never heard of such a thing. I asked if it was considered a "doctor's visit" if it was with the PA, and was informed that yes, yes it is. Huh? So why isn't the PA the MD then? Because the PA is *not* an MD... why are we paying a premium for a PA visit? I've visited multiple doc offices before and have had the pleasure of working with their PA's, but NEVER before working directly with the MD/specialist first and certainly throughout my care. Very disappointed after reading all the positive reviews about this place.

Just a few down side issues...there is a charge if you miss your appointment, even if it's an emergency. However, the doctor worked with me on this fee & waived it. The billing / coding on a visit was also entered in incorrectly and I was billed from my insurance company. But the office corrected it, and took care of it after I contacted them. It's nice to see that they can correct errors & look at policy. I would recommend getting rid of the no show fee, it's very high and things happen. Overall, very pleased and would recommend.

Our shot nurse, Jill, provides us with our shots weekly and is truly incredible. She takes our health and her job seriously, by confirming any previous reactions, ensuring we have had our antihistamine and have our emergency epipens. As a busy adult, I appreciate this reminder seeing as at the end of the day reactions CAN happen and by her friendly check-in's it allows us to be prepared for a reaction IN office but more importantly an unexpected reaction once off the premise. I always feel like the best review or compliment is a referral and we have actually just changed our children from their pediatric allergist to MAAC also. I was really excited to meet with Dr. Mallick. He seemed like exactly what I was needed. I have chronic gut health issues (poor digestion, nausea, bowel issues) and he emphasized finding the root cause. This is just what I was looking for and after being so sick for 3 days, I booked a call with him. Looking back, I see similarities to my interaction on the call and the interaction we had in person. I scheduled the call, watched the linked video which looked good, he seemed to be the type of doctor I needed to truly heal. On the phone call itself, I briefly explained my issues and the call seemed a little bit rushed but I assumed he was busy, he is a doctor. I was handed to his receptionist and scheduled my appointment, he said to think of this first appointment as an interview. My husband, who took off for this appointment and my 1 year old son came with. The appointment begins and he talked a lot about the process, asked me some questions - but not with the intent to get to know me, understand, or to listen but because he was listening for the response he needed to decide whether to take me as a patient. During the appt, he told me he has ended consultations early in the past, once he learns that they are not the right fit for him. He asked many questions, some in repeat because he was making sure I was committed to his process and he made this very known. He seemed understanding of my son being there but when my son needed me for a moment (I was still listening, parents learn how to multitask) and said how "he will wait" before continuing. At the end of the appointment, he talked about the investment which for 4 months (which is what he recommended for me) it was $5600 and included everything such as supplements, future appointments, etc. When we started discussing financials, we felt pressure to sign up for their financing, apply right there, and we will be all set to start. We took time to privately discuss and I decided that I wanted to give Dr. Mallick the benefit of the doubt and asked if I can discuss some concerns with him. I didn't want to write him off without trying - this is about my health after all. I shared my concerns about how the interaction felt very different than I was expecting. I explained that I was seeking a human to human interaction, someone to truly listen to me, to take time to ask about what I was experiencing, and I asked for more transparency for what the treatment plan is which he doesn't usually share in detail as to not overwhelm the patient. He said he has had 3-4% of patients that would drop out of his process. He said "it's called vetting" to describe what his initial consultation is for. Reflecting back, I consider that a small percentage when the percentage of patients who likely walk away after this type of interaction are probably much higher. When I said that I was looking for someone to truly listen, he said "Didn't I listen when I was asking you questions about (XYZ)?". There is a difference between listening for the right response & truly listening to someone. He also said how the appointment can't be like "having a coffee and chatting". Which looking back, I feel that my concerns themselves were not only refuted but again, not truly listened to. We left without signing up for anything and I went home and sobbed and prayed to God for help. I felt like I would never find anyone to help me until, with the help of God's direction, I found Dr. Joel Miller, a functional medicine doctor that loves to serve and listen. Dr. Mallick, I hope you truly reflect on my feedback and the concerns that I see others have shared in the past. I also encourage others to read his responses to previous negative reviews.
