We were able to use his detailed report to guide our negotiation with the seller which made the transaction easier to complete. His use of the thermal imaging was worth the price paid as it helped us discover and negotiate a resolve for an issue the seller wasn't even aware of! I would use Shane again and recommend him to anyone looking to buy a home in New Jersey.

I don't have enough good things to say about Shane! Our realtor recommended him. First off you…read moremight notice if you speak to them at the office or read up on the company that Shane is the only inspector, this is not a corporate business - this means savings! Shane beat the prices of the two other inspectors I requested quotes from and I was even able to get the infrared imaging to check the walls for moisture and whatnot. The inspection itself was super thorough, the inspection report was also very detailed and you can see a sample report on his website of what you will be getting from him. You can even create a list of items using the website the report is on and it is very easy to do, which you can send to the seller to request to be fixed before you agree on the price. We ended up saving a lot of time and money by sending this list over to the seller. Shane really looked into every crevice of the home, and by walking around with him he gave us some very good advice about what will cost a lot to fix and should be done professionally, and what we could probably do ourselves very cheaply. He also gave us some information in general that would be nice to know about your new home, such as pointing out where the electrical panels and water shutoff valves are. We even got a little book at the end about being a home-owner and things you should know when you own a home. We had actually been able to view two inspection reports on the same home from previous buyers that fell through, and Shane's inspection report caught a lot more things than the other two reports. If for some reason we ever need an inspector in the future we know we will call Shane first.

This is a second review for Alligood Energy. On my first review (about a year ago), I had…read moreinsulation blown into my ceiling. I saw a big difference in the warmth of my second floor, but my rooms were still drafty. Mainly because the walls needed to be insulated as well. Really getting tried of a cold drafty house, I decided to bite the bullet and give Alligood Energy another call. Andrew answered! He saw that I was a repeat customer and remembered me and my home. He didn't have to come back a second time to give me a price and honored the quote he gave from last year and even gave me a discount for being a repeat customer! We made a date for the installation into the walls. The problem with having this project done in the winter is contingent on the weather. The temperature has to be above freezing so the foam insulation can flow. This particular day we were good to go and something happened to their equipment and unfortunately the work had to be postponed. I was real disappointed because we had moved furniture and had to clear out any closets that was connected to an outside wall. Andrew was great! He sincerely apologized, put me as a top priority (making sure I was first on his list when the equipment got fixed) and gave me and additional discount for my inconvenience! He called in a few days to let me know everything was fixed. They came out the next day first thing in the morning. They laid down plastic over all my furniture. Moved anything that still needed to be moved. Like I referenced in my first review, they had to put nickel size holes in all the walls that were getting the insulation blown in. They were all moving ( 4 men) like a well oiled machine. It took exactly 3 hours for them to finish my 3 bedrooms, living room, dining room and kitchen walls. Even moved and got behind my dishwasher. They went back and plastered all the holes that they made. They also took up all the plastic and cleaned up after themselves. Now we just have to paint :( My home is much warmer now and hopefully more cool in the summer with the air conditioner. I highly recommend this company because their prices are fair, they are respectful of your home, they communicate well with their customers and are friendly and very professional.

This was the first estimate I ever paid for but it saved us thousands. We had Alligood do an…read moreassessment in order to quote us a price to insulate and spray foam a 1960s house. What we got from the estimate was a thorough review (including a thermal imager) of our house and a lot of pointers where we could make cheap improvements (such as sealing cinder block in the basement). He also noted that many of our main and lower level walls were too thin to really make spray foam air sealing worthwhile (and that many weren't losing much heat at all). In the end, we insulated our attic and air sealed the upstairs walls at a much lower price. The job was done well, and the difference in temperature was day and night. There were a lot of holes to patch (and the patch work they did left some to be desired) but it was worth it. The only reason for knocking a star off was the work was subcontracted, with nobody telling us up front that would be the case. I would just prefer to know if the guys selling the product are with the same company doing the work.

My sister hired Alan Halteman from Tri-State Air Duct Cleaning to clean the air ducts in her family's home for the first time. He was referred by a friend. (Most likely another clueless customer) My sister never writes reviews, so I am posting this on her behalf. Apparently, Alan never asked about the house layout, square footage, or the number of HVAC units before providing a quote. They have two units. She assumed the flat rate of $900, quoted over the phone, was for the entire house. However, as soon as he arrived and started working, the story changed. He claimed that the quote only covered the first level of the house and that cleaning the upper level would cost an additional $900. He also said he didn't have enough time that day to clean the second floor. He apologized for the "misunderstanding" and offered to charge $800 plus tax for the first floor instead of $900. She allowed him to proceed and paid him at the end. According to her, he did not remove some of the return covers/vent covers who were high up on the ceiling during cleaning. Instead, he simply inserted a thin tube through the vent openings. (Another red flag!) In the end, she would have had to pay $1,700 to clean the air ducts in a 2,400-square-foot colonial home. The already excessive price did not even include sanitizing the system. In her experience, this felt like a classic bait-and-switch pricing tactic. Totally dishonest! Remeber, a legitimate air duct cleaning company should ask about your home's square footage, the number of HVAC systems or zones, and provide a transparent, all-inclusive quote before ever arriving at your property. In New Jersey, the legitimate market price to clean the air ducts for a 2,400-square-foot house (assuming a standard multi-zone setup with 2 separate HVAC systems) ranges from $950 to $1,200 total for the entire home.

Punctual, polite, and got the job done. He explained the process upon arrival and was honest that…read morewe didn't need everything we thought we did. We were amazed at how dirty our vents were (picture shows 18" filters in his machine w the gunk from our vents)! I have allergies and was waking up with stuffy head/sore throat and today I was normal! Omg so nice! I do advise if you have pets to give them Xanax or take to a friends bc my dogs were freaked out by the noise of the machine at the top of the basement stairs. I wish I had known the process ahead - so here's info -Anthony started upstairs at each vent and worked down to furnace in basement. Then cleaned from there including the coils and we got an uv light installed. The only con is there wasn't an appointment confirmation call as we had scheduled this months ago, that would've been a nice reminder.
