If you've never had any experience in terms of hiring a professional DJ, like myself, then I'd highly recommend Dave Brown of Premier DJ Service and if you are knowledgeable of DJ services and equipment then you'd definitely appreciate what Premier DJ Services offers. Bottom line, you simply can't go wrong hiring this guy for your next event. I had been planning a birthday party and really wanted to take things to another level and thought, "Why not get a DJ?" Honestly, until I met Dave, I never really understood nor appreciated what an experienced, knowledgeable DJ could do for an event. At first, when I heard his pricing, it kind of threw me off. Because I thought, "Why am I paying so much just to have someone play music?" But once I started comparing Dave's prices to various competitors it became sorely apparent that the best dollar value in terms of experience (he's been in this business for 33 years) was clearly Dave. He's licensed, insured, and a member of the ADA (American Disc Jockey Association). When I brought these things up to various DJs, most of them were lacking a business license and insurance, and few didn't even know what the ADA was. You may not care about who attends your event but I do. So I feel very strongly about people I hire having the proper credentials. Especially, insurance. He began by requesting a basic song list, then made very helpful song suggestions. Then he took notes about the birthday girl, favorite color, hobbies, interests, best friend, etc. During the event, Dave made announcements that really added depth to the event and managed to get a few laughs and sentimental moments. Pictures were provided which Dave projected onto a large wall and displayed a slide show of the birthday girl throughout the years. Our guests loved it! He even matched the lights that flashed from his DJ equipment to the color theme of the party. That, to me, was attention to detail that I truly wasn't expecting. THEN, he raffled off gift baskets he'd put together and our guests were really surprised. I mean, who doesn't like free gift cards and wine? Dave kept the party going with great music, ambient lighting, a fog machine, thoughtful announcements, and attention to detail that truly added another level to a birthday party that our daughter will remember for the rest of her life. read more

We hired DJ Dave for my mom's 80th birthday party. He was GREAT! We originally interviewed him at my home about a month prior to our event. He arrived on time, and quickly bonded with my siblings and me as we planned this big family occasion. By the end of our interview, he was asking for suggestions for music, and we told him we would email him a list. Come the week of the event, it would have been very nice if we had sent him one list. Instead, I know of at least three -- driipping in to him at different times. We sent him requests for random music (performed on Idol for example). He was patient and it was no problem. He arrived for the event and set up quickly. The party was great (issues with the venue, but that had nothing to do with him). The music was great: perfect for the occasion,and ranged from Big Band era to Love Shack. He made it a point to play the music on our lists, and responded to all requests (for a slow dance for my parents, etc.) He got the party rockin' and people danced and danced. My mom (being 80 and all), was getting tired. I went up to Dave and simply said 'My mom is packing her bags" -- he rolle with it --- one more song, and then "Goodnight, Sweetheart" I would hire Premier DJ in a heartbeat if I ever have the need again! read more

No way are these positive reviews legit. Any negative one Is more accurate and believable. We've had so much experience with Dj services over the years and this was by far the worst. It's like he was in a zone and didn't know what was hot for everyone today. He didn't take requests, was rude and cut off vogue at the best part. Every guest complained and said you should have just used Alexa lol. We even asked him to cut off bad songs and he played them until the end. Then a guest paid him an extra $100 to stay longer and he still struggled to play songs we wanted. We have video of all of this if this Dj tries to justify or say it isn't true. He will come back and say he only has positive reviews on yelp and GigSalad. He will most likely say I'm the only negative review and he's had years of experience. I guarantee that is not the case and he most likely gets friends to write reviews or he deletes bad ones. What I do know is we had almost 40 people at this event and they can all verify that this was the absolute worst Dj they have ever encountered. They would all have zero problems with writing it on here and sharing this horrible experience.This was just wrong and truly bad. So bad it was embarrassing. From todays hits and yesterday classics it's not hard to satisfy a crowd and get them singing and dancing. Omg this was anything but. Dave was amazing! Our original DJ had to cancel at the last minute and Dave stepped in on short notice and made our wedding night so much fun. I hired DJ Dave for my daughter's 14th birthday party. Her actual birthday is on New Year's Eve and we weren't sure how the turn out would be. A day after Christmas we realized most of her guests would not be able to attend so we moved the date to Jan 4, 2014. I contacted Premier DJ Services on December 27, 2013. He returned my message promptly and did not make me feel guilty about requesting services at the last minute... I actually had other DJ's let me know how I was so lucky they were even available. I found this to be somewhat belittling since I obviously knew it was last minute but I digress. I discussed with DJ Dave the theme and vibe my daughter for her party. Being that it was a Mardi Gras theme she also requested for him to wear beads and he was all for it. My daughter also had a playlist of music that was all over the board, We knew some of the songs were underground and may be hard to find but to my daughter's delight he found them ALL!! He also provided all the bells and whistles such as all types of lighting and complete sound for the entire party. The day of the party DJ Dave was prompt and ready to go. We actually did not have enough space or need the extra lighting or speakers she wanted but he was able to provide a light show and sound that surpassed her expectations. Once he started the party began. He was a great MC as she had a dance contest during the party as well. He was also very cooperative and helpful whenever we needed to make an announcement. The kids were enjoying themselves and as with all parties after about 3 hours, the vibe was "Turning Down" as the kids would say... but that didn't last long as it seemed as soon as DJ Dave noticed he was able to "Turn Up" as if it was on demand. My daughter is known for her parties and this one took her to the next level. All of her friends raved the next day about how it was "The best party ever" on InstaGram and Facebook. Videos and pictures were everywhere. My son asked for me to have DJ Dave at his 16th and other parents were inquiring about him also for adult events as well. During our first meeting with Dave, he asked us a lot of questions so he could get to know us and better understand what kind of experience we were looking for at our wedding. He took the time to listen to our stories and gave us insight into his approach. It was very clear from the beginning that Dave takes his job seriously and does what it takes to make it a great experience for not only the hosts, but all the guests as well. From the time we decided to use Premier DJ Service to the date of the event, Dave was attentive and asked questions about the venue, the type of music he needed to provide, etc. We provided a song list to DJ Dave as well as the itinerary since we had a few surprises (picture slideshow, hula dances, etc.) in store for our parents. DJ Dave checked with us during the event to ensure we were on the same page regarding the itinerary and the timing of the surprises we had planned. For this once-in-a-lifetime moment you want a true experienced professional. While on the surface, DJ Dave may appear to be a professional, he is far from that. After speaking with DJ Dave several times before our wedding, we felt confident that he would do a great job at our wedding. Unfortunately, we were fooled by his seemingly professional demeanor. DJ Dave offers a very appealing price and wedding package. Trust me when I say it is worth the extra money to have someone who is a true professional with the experience and expertise needed to provide quality wedding DJ and sound services. I have summarized below how he ruined our wedding: 1. He lacks professionalism: He showed up an hour late for our wedding, ran into technical difficulties with the power at the venue and did not have sufficient time for a sound check. 2. He lacks sufficient expertise to operate or utilize a sound system: a. Despite being asked several times before the wedding if having the officiant use a lapel mic and having my husband's father to sing a song during the wedding with a handheld mic would cause any interference issues (which he assured us would not be a problem), there was a ton of interference. Furthermore, instead of cutting off the sound when he could not fix the interference, he just kept the sound on and literally ruined this special moment. We could not hear my husband's father at all. His sound system continued to malfunction during the wedding. During the cake cutting and toasts, the interference continued. 3. He is not thorough or detailed-oriented: During our recessional he played the wrong song. My husband and I just waited in front of all of our guest until he realized his mistake and found the right song. He only had one song to play during the wedding. I received some wedding pictures from guest that show DJ Dave taking pictures during our wedding rather making sure the our song is ready to be played and his system is functioning. 4. He operates on his own program with little consideration for the desires of his clients: We asked him to play classic r&b songs during the dinner as well as music. We also gave him a list of the songs we wanted played. We wanted the music to help create a fun atmosphere for our guest during dinner. He didn't play the type of music we requested or any of the songs.Once dinner ended, instead of actually DJing, he was busy eating and talking with staff in the back (according to my wedding coordinator). When he did finally return to the reception, he spent a good amount of time taking pictures and video of people dancing rather than actually DJing. I am sure you will find some of the pictures posted on his website at some point soon. Lastly, we asked for several line dance songs to be played during the wedding and he only played one. We asked him not to play bay area music since we had an east coast crowd and he played an entire bay set. 5. He does not know how to read a crowd: He continued to play music that did not bring people to dance floor. We heard from our close friends things like, " I wanted to get up and dance but the DJ was so bad". We he finally played one of the line dance songs we requested, everyone came to the dance floor. He did not play another line dance song all night. From my review, it is clearly evident that DJ Dave is not the right person for your wedding. Before writing this review, we gave him a chance to apologize and explain what happened. Though he admitted he deserved a "C" for our wedding, he never apologized or offered to refund any of our money. read more

I just got married this past weekend and had David Brown as my DJ..... Man, was that a mistake! He claims to have 34 years of experience with DJing at many weddings, but I seriously would have thought it was his first day. He was so disorganized and extremely rude, which surprised me because he was so nice and polite up to that day. Here is why I gave him 1 star: 1. He showed up late to my wedding. Everyone was sitting and waiting for the music to start the ceremony. 2. He played the wrong song when my bridesmaids were walking down the aisle in the start of the ceremony. As I freaked out and told him to play the song I picked, he said that WAS what I picked, which I obviously didn't! He didn't do anything about it. What bride wants her bridesmaids to walk down to "This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)" by Natalie Cole? That was what I picked for the wedding party to enter into the reception, not the ceremony. 3. During the ceremony, the microphone he provided cut out in the middle of my husband's vows. 4. I asked him to play Frank Sinatra type genre during cocktail hour, which he did for the most part, but then it seemed like he disappeared for a while because SNOW WHITE's "I'm Wishing" song came on with all the squirrels singing in that annoying squeaky voice! Seriously?! My sister had to run back and forth many times to tell him what to do. Even though I gave him a timeline for everything, which he did not go by at all. He told me that he makes a specific playlist for each wedding that he DJ's at, so how did the snow white song end up in the shuffle? There were too many mistakes that he was making. 5. Then, when my wedding party was waiting to be announced into the reception, the DJ came to basically accuse me of why everything is going wrong and tell me that it was my fault that I wasn't happy because he didn't have enough time to plan my playlist since he was at a convention all week, which he was only able to attend because I paid him in full early (he told me that himself). NEVER PAY IN ADVANCE! It honestly seemed as if because he was paid ahead of time in full, he didn't put any effort into his work. Though he had 3 weeks to tell me if he misunderstood anything, he decided to tell me on my wedding day that he didn't understand the information I had given him and tried to make it my fault on top of it. I told Dave before my wedding that I had 3 weeks left before my big day and he told me he could handle it and would be prepared. However, at that moment, he told me that he usually has 2 months to plan and that I didn't give him enough time after he specifically said he could handle it. I cried my eyes out, humiliated in front of my wedding party. What kind of jerk makes a bride cry on her wedding day? 6. When he introduced the wedding party, he called the BEST MAN "Danielle" instead of Daniel, and "Thomson" was pronounced "Thomas". Not to mention that the information about each person that he read off sounded like he was hosting a dating show while introducing the wedding party. For example, "Next we have Jenny who is a Cancer and loves the color pink and...." Plus, the information he read off wasn't even correct! 7. Before the wedding, I reminded him that we have an Italian prayer that we would like to say before guests get their food. He completely dishonored our request and invited guests to eat before letting us say our prayer. My poor sister had to run up yet again to correct him! He even had the audacity to argue with her and tell her he had to play this song completely through first, even though people were already starting to eat. 8. Then when the first dance came around, he played the music before anyone had a chance to get out of his or her seat! My groom and I had to run up the stairs to the dance floor (it was an outside wedding with the dance floor higher up on a patio) and missed a chunk of the beginning of the song. There were elderly people there who couldn't run that fast so half of my guests missed the first dance. He didn't do what most DJ's do where they say, "I'd like to invite the bride and groom to the dance floor for their first dance" and give us time to get there. There were many more things that went wrong but this will do. What bothers me the most is that he never once said sorry for anything he did that night nor took any of the responsibility for his mistakes. Point is that even if something did go wrong in a wedding, the DJ is supposed to be very good at improvising and keep the flow going; not consistently interrupt it. He created his own format out of what I gave him, which was very different than mine and he never once informed me that he was confused about my requests. I tried to get in touch with him numerous times before the wedding to make sure we were on the same page, but he never once tried to communicate about his concerns until the day of the wedding. We hired DJ Dave for our wedding last weekend. From the time we met to the day of event Dave was very much involved and was always quick to respond to any questions. He also helped us with song suggestions for our ceremony. The day of the event he arrived on time and set up for ceremony. He was always on point and was a great MC throughout the reception. He also added a special touch by including our love story after the toasts for people to get to know how we got to the wedding. A very nice touch which everyone loved.
