While several of the providers here are friendly, sympathetic and patient in explaining issues and course of treatment (shoutout to Bradley Homza and Allen Jarzombek, two of the best providers I have had), I strongly urge patients to steer clear of Sarah Blair, FNP. She seems to be inexperienced,, rigid, and too much by the book. She refused a prescription for me even though others in her office had prescribed it for me before, and turned a deaf ear to my plea and rationale. Her concern was a possible adverse interaction with another prescription. The alternative she prescribed is not covered by my insurance so it would cost me $1200+ if I had it filled. Impossible to set an appointment without waiting weeks and weeks drove over an hour to get to an appointment, called ahead twice to make them aware traffic was delaying me. Was three minutes past the 15 minute grace period and Dr Jarzombek said I need to reschedule. Several times in past had to wait up to an hour in waiting room and he couldn't accommodate a three minute delay. Not the best bedside manner, especially after having emergency surgery after seeing Dr. Jarzombek. Feels like they are herding cattle rather than spending quality time with patients. I have been seen seeing Mike Fields for close to three years now. I am very happy with his care and I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a general practitioner. Mike is a very knowledgeable and experienced physician. I also appreciate that Mike is very patient and understanding. He takes the time to listen to my concerns and as always makes me feel seen, understood, and comfortable. In addition to being a great physician he is also a wonderful person. He is kind, compassionate, and caring. I feel like he is really invested in my health and well-being. Updated review, I gave this place several chances. Saw a few different doctors hoping they'd get better, but they've probably gotten worse. Lost my lab samples 3 times already, at this point I'm convinced staff is selling my tox screens for clean samples. Updated review: Don't waist your time with these doctors. These are not private care doctors and are owned by the corporation. A new company has bought them out and they will treat you differently - like low life. They will tell you, I cannot do what Dr. Vocal used to do because I need to keep my job. The doctor's demeanor was off the day before. I told my husband, you just wait and see they will give me a hard time about my prescription. Said they were going to put a diagnosis on my file whether I liked it or not. They made me and my husband take a urine test and sign a disclosure just because we have to take certain drugs. Kept trying to talk me into a new drug and I said no several times. Said they were going to lower my prescription dosage. Very belittling and not surprising anymore. I even witness one lady walking out because the staff came out to talk to her openly in front of everyone in the wait area about her health. They say, they are doing no harm, but they won't even touch you or listen to your heart. That is malpractice! These people are quacks. read more

Physician put into husbands medical records things that were never discussed, left out meds that the dr put him on, conveniently are missing labs, and on more than one occasion. Only taken us two visits to realize it's time to change providers. And on a separate note, I had tried to get in to establish care, only to be told that our New Patient coordinator will call you, and that was over 6 weeks ago. read more

I like this spot. I would give it more of a 4.2-4.5 if I could. Dr. Deleon is great! She takes time with me to discuss concerns and possibilities and collaborate. Mike Fields is excellent. My wife and I both see him periodically for wellness and sickness advice. He is a CNP who stays up to date with latest medical findings. I recommend him unequivocally for helping with anyone's health concerns. Their facility is easy to access in Bastrop. He directed me to a superb surgeon a few years ago for my bilateral hernia procedure. He also has assisted in assessing my meniscus tear and my arthritic knee. His referral to an experienced, caring surgeon for consultation resulted in avoiding surgery, while still providing very good mobility without pain. read more

I don't write this review out of malicious intention, only facts. I took my child there for a mental health checkup. My child's grandmother/ my mother, had just died and my husband took my child to the appointment because I was working. My family came back home to tell me that the doctor was irritable and aggressive from the moment they saw them, and that the doctor thought the appointment was for a well child visit. I received a call from this doctor telling me I needed to send my child to a mental health hospital and asked me personal questions about my own mental health and was typing in the background. We took my child to the mental health hospital and they said my child did not need to be admitted. I get a visit from cps because this doctor made false allegations for medical neglect and said I was at the appointment when I wasn't/ in which the cps worker responded saying what the doctor said was ridiculous because the appointment we made for my child was not medical neglect and was seeking treatment for my child. I also have proof from work that I was not at the appointment. On the patient account the doctor put medical diagnosis like ptsd and such which is not something this female doctor was qualified to diagnose as those types of things are diagnosed by a psychologist and the like. Needless to say we would never go to that doctors office again. read more

I selected Pompeyo Chavez as my BCBS Health Select doctor and called for appointment (don't leave a message, they do NOT return calls). I was told he's an M.D.V.I.P. doctor, meaning they expect you pay a special yearly fee/premium for the priviledge to see him. I asked if I could switch to their other doctor, Larry Vocal and was told I could, but there is a 90 day wait for new patients. Unprofessional conduct, extremely rude staff, long call wait times, and a general complete lack of service, Even if I did get an appointment, I bet it would only be with a PA. I wouldn't remain a patient of such a facility even if they paid me to do so. read more

I have to say over many years of changing Dr. offices, The Family Health Center of Bastrop is by far the most top notch, very professional and incredibly personable. Nurse "Olivia" Blankenship is the best I have ever seen in what she does! She actually gets to know who you are and she is very thorough in her evaluations and communicates in a proficient manner so "we" the patient can comprehensively understand. Also the health and administration staff she has supporting her are amazing. I would HIGHLY recommend (and I already have to many friends and family) the Family Health Center of Bastrop for your personal health and wellness needs. read more

Absolutely the worst customer service experience. Dr. Ortega wrote the WRONG DOSAGE of my medication in the RX he sent to my pharmacy, and I had to be on on the phone with this office for two weeks trying to resolve the issue. They gave me HALF the dose of a medication I need to function properly. I didn't realize it was wrong until I had moved cross-country and started feeling terrible. The first nurse I spoke to about the issue - which is essentially malpractice - just didn't want to deal with the problem, so she told me she would "have to call me back" while almost hanging up on me and never did. She also blamed the problem on the pharmacy, which was clearly not at fault and had the records to prove it. I probably made nearly 20 phone calls to this office to finally get a solution that I wasn't even fully happy with. The last person I spoke to - to be fair - was very polite, but it should not have taken 2 weeks of phone calls and voicemails that were never returned in order to speak to someone that was willing and able to find a solution. I DO NOT recommend this office, seeing as it is highly disorganized and they don't care enough about their patients to even give them the right dosage of a medication. Seriously, this was malpractice and poor customer service on top of it. read more

I'm not someone to leave really any reviews. I don't care enough to, but I can mark today as one of the days I received the worst customer service over the phone. Cordelia was beyond rude over the phone. I have never had a bad experience in-person or over the phone at this location but oh my god do they need to train SOME of their staff (pretty much only Cordelia) on customer service. I'm sorry I don't have knowledge over diagnosis codes and such!!! Me and the 99% of the other human population can hardly understand our insurances at times!!!! You don't need to be rude to me when I'm asking genuine questions!!! Christ I felt like I was being barked at by my mom over the phone. How rude and unprofessional and I hope she sees this review and really takes a good look at how she talks to patients because it not only is unprofessional it's downright disrespectful. I am writing to express my displeasure about the staff at the Bastrop offices. I called in 10/11, Friday, to have the office make sure the lab had been sent orders for a blood test that Dr. Vocal recommended for me. I was told that the message would be given to the nurse. I was NOT told that I needed to come by the office to pick up this order. I had already asked that the lab be sent the order. Tuesday when I went to the lab they of course had not received it. I then went to the office and asked for the order and an explanation for why I was not told to come there to pick up the order. All I was told is that that's the way it works and Friday's call went to a call center not the office. I was a little upset but I do not feel that I was disrespectful to the front desk person. When the nurse brought out the lab order she would not give it to me until she had lectured me about being disrespectful to the staff. I was, after this point, more than annoyed. She should have been apologetic for me being given the wrong information but instead was condescending and rude. read more

My husband and I have been trying to get orders for blood work since last week. I finally found out today from lab that our Doctor does not fax orders. So my husband went to doctor's office and waited for 1 1/2 hours to get orders. A woman from the back offices came out that could not speak very good English or understand English. They contract out a lab (Genesis Diagnostics) that works there in the office. Had a urine test performed and was told that i wouldn't be billed as it was part of the office visit. That was in July 2018. Just now received a letter from Genesis Diagnostics stating that I owe over $500! A year and a half later! For a urine test??? Cannot get anyone from the clinic FHCB to call me back. No one in billing answers. Horrible customer service. I like my doctor but the office staff needs a lot of work. They also need to be communicate orders better to patients. This is crazy!! read more

I was fired by my dr! I got a letter in the mail saying they would only give me 30 days of emergency care if something comes up. I'd rather die first!! So, whatever y'all do...don't flip on the staff because it's not their fault the doctors are incompetent... And the cherry on top was my dr told me today on the phone that i needed a CPAP machine so I need to make an apt to determine the prescription i would need! I called the sleep study place and they said i don't need a CPAP.. Their guideline says a 5 is a low/borderline result ... I was at a 3.4 and there was no need for a CPAP machine... THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! After my first pregnancy I was informed I would need another referral to make up for a lost one so, I saw my Dr., whom informed me he would resolve the issue. Well, I wound up being billed thousands of dollars for my maternity stay at the hospital because they never got my referral! 3 MONTHS after my visit and back and forth phone calls from the hospital and the referral coordinator I FINALLY received my refund! 3 MONTHS! I am now dealing with the same issue all over again, she NEVER answers her phone or returns any messages. I am a friend of hers on Facebook and see her throughout the day, daily, posting things-which infuriates me! I NEED my referrals to be sent promptly and correctly to the appropriate parties so I can receive the medical attention I need!!!! I am tired of fixings these people's (persons) mistakes and waiting weeks-months just to make an appointment with my specialists. I am switching my PCM solely because of the referral coordinator and incompetent staff. Also, I wouldn't recommend this place if you don't have at least an hour to wait in the waiting room for your appointment that WILL be pushed back. read more

This doctor's office is terrible. They never return calls or messages made to the patient portal. When I call to make an appointment on a Monday at 8AM they are already full for the week and forget it if you need to be seen immediately for a cold/sinus infection. You might as well go to urgent care then waste your time with this office. I have been a patient for 10 years and the past couple of years it has gone downhill. I have left 2 messages to my portal, 1 message with a nurse and 1 voicemail all last week with not one return message. Left a message again yesterday and still nothing. Over a week and a half with no response to refill my prescriptions or get an updated referral requested. Let me just say this was NOT the first time this has happened. Absolutely fail in customer service. Calls should be returned in 24 hours if not the same day. Why have a patient portal you do not utilize. If I could rate a negative number/star I would. Move along from here. Praying the new Ascension Medical Center will bring some better doctors and family practitioners to Bastrop. I have disputed things in the patient portal that were not true, doctor's assumptions, based on no medical diagnoses/tests/labs confirming. Patient portal is missing information or is inaccurate. Good luck trying to get anything changed. Doctor has checked out and needs to retire. The office staff all need to be replaced or retrained in quality customer service. Worst customer service ever! I work for a doctors office and I can't imagine treating my patients the way they do, at the front desk. We waited 2 hours to see the doctor for a follow up for my daughter. The nurses are nice but don't seem very knowledgeable. Dr. Mota is great and she is only the reason we have continued to go here but after this last visit we will definitely be looking for a new pcp! read more

Good Luck if you get over charged and try to get YOUR money back. I was asked to pay a $50 "Deposit" on my Humana HRA Plan just in case it didn't pay. They could have told me the cash price for the visit was only $55 and not even use my insurance. Well they did bill my insurance $159 and it did pay, that was July 14th, and I have been trying to get this refund ever since. After I printed and personally took the proof to them that showed Humana paid they keep telling me they would send a refund check by the end of the week. So 5 "End of the weeks" have come and gone and yes I have been a pest and have talked to the person in charge of this each week, she was even going to call me Tuesday 9/2 to confirm the check had be mailed, Oh wait !! that was last week. Maybe I will get it by Friday, that would make it an even two months. read more
