I cannot say enough in this review to express my gratitude for her care. In addition she has an excellent approach to patient communication. I feel very, very fortunate to have her as my care provider. I have had care over the last decade at two large Healthcare providers and did not feel that I had good healthcare. From the moment I walked in, the entire team was incredibly professional, compassionate, and efficient. Medical procedures like these can understandably cause some anxiety, but the nurses and doctors went out of their way to make me feel comfortable, clearly explaining every step of the process. The procedures themselves were seamless and completely painless, and the post-op care was fantastic. It is clear that this team truly cares about veterans and provides top-tier medical care. Thank you to the outstanding GI staff at the Austin VA! Now as we all know as veterans VA Health Care is by far not perfect, but through the years since I have been utilizing the VA Health Care system for all my health care needs for service connection, I have seen an improvement. I have run into a few rude staff members and the ones I have reported, I have seen the VA take accountability more serious then previous years. At this location people are friendly, helpful, providing clear concise communication and the wait times are by far minimum. I will definitely recommend this clinic to my fellow veterans.

I originally went to the Cardiologist because my doctor found that I had high blood pressure in August of 2023. The Cardiologist Dr. Otero put me on blood pressure pills. I took the pills for a few months and stopped. In March 2024 I ended up in the hospital with extreme dizziness and got physically sick when I moved. I went through a plethora of tests and the emergency room doctor said I had possibly had a small heart attack and/or Stroke, the hospital said I had to see a heart surgeon immediately and set an appointment. When I spoke with Dr Otero he said to cancel the appointment with the surgeon and that he needed to do more tests to verify my condition before I see a surgeon. Then I was run through every singe one of the same tests that were performed when I was in the hospital costing me for out of pocket expense again. Then an angiogram was scheduled for the first week of June 2024. The results were not good, Bicuspid valve that needed to be replaced, a 70% blockage that required a double bypass and a aortic aneurysm which could burst at any moment, (same thing killed my grandfather). I was told that a surgeon would call me the next week to schedule an appointment. Well, the next week came and went and no call...then the second week went by and no call. So, I called Dr Otero's office and left a message with his assistant Andrenika Ellison that I had not heard from the surgeon. I never heard back from Cardio Texas, and this was three weeks after my diagnosis. I waited until the next week, called again, no answer, left a message and never heard back. I had other family members who also used Cardio Texas but other Doctors in the practice call to try to get a response, and STILL NO CALL BACK! Remember, I have an aneurysm that could rupture an any moment and I would die on the spot. This went on for THREE months, I called every week, without an answer or a returned call. Finally at the end of August a surgeon's office called. I scheduled an appointment and the first thing the surgeon said to me was " I'm very concerned that you were diagnosed with this condition and your cardiologist took three months to get you to a surgeon?" Then he said, my diagnosed blockage was not 70%, it was 85% blockage and I didn't need a double bypass, I needed a triple bypass and could I be ready tomorrow for surgery? Then the surgeon said, I could be almost recovered by that point if they would have sent you back in June. BEWARE OF THIS PRACTICE, THEY ARE JUST LOOKING TO GET THAT COMMISSION FROM BIG PHARMA. Then, when I went to Cardiac recovery CARE with a physical therapist to help with my physical recovery. I was supposed to go to for several weeks but I ran into an issue the first day with my heart rate shooting up to 130 bpm. The therapist made me stop and instantly called to speak with Dr Otero and didn't get a answer. I was told to go home because we could not do any more exercises until he spoke with the Dr. Well, needless to say after making several calls and leaving messages the therapist never heard back from Dr. Otero or his office staff and would not see me without their call back. I'm going to have to say this is pretty sad for the type of doctors that are in this office...you know...HEART DOCTORS...or are they Grim Reapers!

I went in with that on my mind along with uncertainty about the procedure itself. Lori was my tech and she was amazing. She talked through every step before I was taken to the procedure room and gave me a play by play as the doctor worked. She made me feel at ease and comfortable which lowered my nervousness tremendously! Their kindness and professionalism was outstanding! And although I was very bruised and sore after the procedure for several days, the biopsy itself was painless. Thank you for your compassionate care! Although no one wants to go in and have a biopsy or be called back with an abnormal mammogram, I highly recommend women getting their annuals at this center because in the event that you have a problem and you need to have a procedure done, they are excellent and have a great bedside manner.

The office was hot. The electric outlets didn't work where I could plugged my cell phone in. I had 2 vaccines for the virus. But they ignore that and I took my temperature and etc. Didn't like the tech reaching to take my temperature without telling me first. Finally got out of there 3 hours later. And they used compression to take the mammogram. No fun. Tired of being treated like my body is a piece of meat.
