The negative far outweighed the positive at Premier Medical. I had come for eyeglass and contact lens prescriptions & assumed I would leave with both. I had used contacts before & loved them until I got one stuck & had to go to a clinic but wanted to try again. I made an appointment with Premier Medical specifically requesting both prescriptions. After the appointment, I was given one for eyeglasses but not contacts. I was told the fitting came first. Maybe they could tell me some tips to avoid getting a contact stuck on my eye. But I was unable to get the contacts in during the 45-minute session. I do not work well with someone standing over me as I try to poke a foreign object into my sensitive eyes. When I had contacts before, I had "invited" my husband to leave the bathroom so I could work it out on my own. He did and I did. At Premier Medical, the staff assigned to do my fitting made encouraging sounds but would look at her watch no less than every five minutes or so -- not kidding! In my stressed mind, she was checking how much longer for this session. I said it may take me a while and she said proudly: "Oh, that's why we allow a full 45 minutes for a fitting." And how is it helpful to hear in a "disappointed voice", "Oh, you didn't get it that time (repeatedly)." Really? Her other "go-to" comment was, "Oh, I thought you got it that time!" She repeatedly shared these helpful comments that somehow failed to further my cause. I learned nothing new. I stopped just short of my allotted 45-minutes. I knew I wasn't going to get it in the remaining time, and I just couldn't stand seeing her check her watch yet again. But then they wouldn't let me take the trials home to work on it. They wanted to schedule ANOTHER fitting! I figured I could just get my prescription and order the contacts somewhere else but they refused to give it to me saying I needed a fitting. When I got home, I contacted an online source for contacts thinking maybe they can give me contacts based on my eyeglass prescription. Nope! Different measurements. The online source offered to call the doctor's office and get the prescription, but they refused to release it to them as well, saying I hadn't come in for an appointment. Then I contacted medical records to get a copy of my records, but there was no prescription for contact lenses to be found. VERY IMPORTANT POINT: Legally, everything in my medical record belongs to me. I know there was a prescription for contact lenses that wasn't given to me. The measurements that were needed to generate a prescription for contacts weren't even included. Eyeglasses, yes. Contacts, no. Back to square one. I wanted to wear contacts. I had done so previously and didn't go through this insanity. I made an appointment at Walmart and got my prescriptions and trial lenses. Thanks, Premier Medical, for the extra cost to me. I took the Walmart trials home and worked it out on my own. However, the prescriptions provided by Walmart (optometrist) and the one generated (but not given to me) by Dr. Brown (ophthalmologist) were not identical. I know that because I was SUPPOSED to have been given trials from Premier Medical that were different for the right and left eyes. So, having paid for the services of Premier Medical (and then for Walmart as well), I wanted to know which prescription would work best. Wearing my Walmart contacts, I returned to Premier Medical's contact lens office on 4/5/2022. I then had the misfortune to meet 'The Contact Lens Gestapo,' Lisa. I told her I would like to pick up my contact lens prescription. She was rude and condescending and she lied. I caught at least two. (Lie #1) I said I am currently wearing contacts, so I don't need to be fitted. She asked where I got the lenses. I said Walmart but explained why I wanted to try the prescription from Dr. Brown. She suggested that I get the contacts from Walmart. I said I will if the prescription I had also paid to get from Premier isn't better than the extra one I had to get from Walmart because they wouldn't release it to me. I informed her that my husband had gotten his trials and prescription without a fitting because he was already wearing contacts. She said they require a fitting if you don't know your lens strength. I told her that my husband didn't know his when he received his new trials lenses because his eyes had changed since his last exam. I told her she didn't have to give me the trials, but I do want the prescription for contact lenses. (Lie #2) She said that the doctors don't really write prescriptions for contact lenses. To which I said, then how did you know which ones for me to try when I came in for the fitting? I said I know that there is a prescription. She tried calling her supervisor but couldn't get through. Finally, she handed me...a paper prescription for contacts signed by the doctor. Really?! Thanks so much for a wonderful experience...not! I won't be going back to this provider. read more
