I am a long-term wearer (10+ years) of multi focal specialty contact lens. Initially, it took…read moreseveral appointments and many, many contacts to find the right fit, but my previous optometrist was a rock star at working though this process. And there was no upchage for this service. I recently moved to Baldwin county and needed to replace the contacts. So in doing my research for someone specializing in these types of contacts, I found Dr. Ferris-Metzger at Premier Medical in Daphne. The appointment went well and I provided Dr Ferris-Metzger with my previous contact vials which has all the measurements and sizing for the fit of the specialty lenses. I just needed to know if any of my distance / up close vision had changed and check the health of my eyes. Fast forward 4 weeks to when the lenses arrived and I get an invoice for 3x what Ive historically paid for the lenses (they are sold as 2 pairs to change out after 6 months of wear). I thought there has to be a mistake... the wrong type of lens was ordered or the technician wrongly ordered "2" sets (meaning 4 pair). I communicated my concerns with Dr Ferris-Metzger's technician and her response basically explaining to me how the lenses work, how they are sold and that this was the price. No new information to me and no answers to the questions I had proposed. At this point, I contacted my previous optometrist 4 hours away, to inquire about any price increases. They confirmed the price was what I'd paid previously (which was $600 less than Premier Medical) After that, I tried calling a business manager and was put in touch with the contact lens person. This went the same way as the previous conversations. No one appears to be interested in my honest attempt to understand the price difference at this place. And to add insult to injury, Dr Ferris-Metger had the contact lens associate inform me that I would be charged a contact fitting fee of $40 which I would have to pay before she would release my prescription (yes I asked for it as a matter of principle). If you will see above, there was basically no "contact fitting" because I provided my previous measurements. I now have an appointment with an optometrist in Fairhope. Their office confirmed that the price of the lens will be what I'm used to paying ($700) and I'll pay for another exam. But I don't think I have a choice. And yes, I absolutely love these lenses and understand that they are a premium product. But charging $600 more for the same lens I can purchase down the street is insane. Bottom line -- buyer beware.

And then they didn't have the information they needed, they didn't keep track of the glasses that they allegedly set aside for me, they didn't write any of the information down for me, I took photographs of even the earpieces with all the numbers on it but they did not take my measurements!!! What!!!!???? What!? I live over two hours away and told them I didn't want to come back in except to pick them up! If they needed more information, I measurement they should've taken it while I was there! They would never return my phone calls. The only way you can get through to a person is to call Premier switchboard and get transferred in because they don't accept outside calls. The best I could do is to get transferred to the answering machine which they do not reply to. The cashier did not have the fax number to fax in the prescription, said emails are not approved. She could not get the fax number for me anywhere or anytime. So I asked to be transferred to the Ophthalmologist and they had the wrong fax number. My eye doctor office had mercy on me and had to call to get the fax number and fax it in themselves! It can't be found anywhere online. Useless! Premier is Ridiculous! Horrible customer service! Not trust worthy and lazy! Doesn't pay attention to details. I couldn't get through to anybody who would take any responsibility it was a total nightmare I give up! I'm NOT working with them again. My doctor in Andalusia had me in a brand of contacts I loved called Frequency 55, so I simply requested that Dr. Cooper write me an updated RX for my new contacts. I had a contacts fitting, he gave me a trial pair of Air Optix to try but I told him I would like to move forward with Frequency 55 as it took my old eye doctor about five tries to find me the right brand of contacts. Dr. Cooper instead took it upon himself to write my RX for Air Optix, which I did try, and did not like, as I told his staff. Now, I have actually run out of contacts from my old eye doctor (I don't wear them but maybe once a week so they last me a little longer) and I called today to actually get the RX from Dr. Cooper. Well, they can only give me an RX for Air Optix because he went against my requests and wrote an RX for a brand I don't want nor like. In order to correct this, I had to get my old eye doctor to pull my chart and go through it to find the base curve, which took me about two hours worth of back and forth phone calls because the old office in Andalusia didn't understand why the Brewton office didn't just do what I asked in the first place. It doesn't help that this office has advertisements for Air Optix contacts all over their office, so it is quite obvious that the doctor is getting a cut for prescribing this brand. Fortunately, we finally got it straightened out, but it was ALL due to me doing their jobs for them and figuring out the base curve when I don't even know what a base curve is.
