I'm very disappointed in my visit to this vet. I brought my dog here twice. The issue was my dog was lethargic and not eating. He hasn't been pooping either. On the first visit, the vet told me it was maybe allergies and change his grain free food. They plucked his ears and extracted his anal glands. They sold me some topical cream as his inner thigh was a bit irritated. This visit cost $350. The second visit, i went back the next day. My dog showed no signs of improvement from the prior visit. During this time they did an x ray, blood work, gave him some stomach settling meds along with appetite meds, and they sold me the same meds to take him. This visit cost $600. Note they said they were going to send me the x rays the same day but failed to do so. Fast forward another 1 day and $900 later, I noticed still no improvement. I took my dog to the VCA in Aurora. Turns out he had an intestinal blockage and required surgery. Thank god I took him to the hospital on Sunday or he would have likely died. Animals cannot talk. This place didn't go through the process of elimination to diagnose intestinal blockage. I didn't think it was because he never had a history of eating toys but I guess there's a first for anything. This place was offering all these other fixes that had no relation to the cause of my dogs illness. It's like fixing the radio of a wrecked car. The triage process was completely unreliable. I felt they were too busy pushing meds as opposed to finding a diagnosis. I got sold on these auxiliary services that did absolutely nothing to alleviate my dog's condition. I can't recommend this place. The only bright side is my dog survived. Vets should be trained in diagnosis issues. This is especially the case for animals. Dogs can't tell you where it hurts. It's up to the vet to help identify the root cause. In my case, I felt I was being upsold on services as opposed to treating the true underlying condition. read more

The front desk personnel is very friendly and the prices are reasonable but I took my cat there with a dental issue and was seen by the doctor and was told she needed a dental cleaning. I had to wait a month before they could get her in. Some other serious issue came up with her and the doctor said she needed some particular med to treat this very serious condition and it took her 6 days to get back to me and another 7 days to get the med. After that I took my cat to the Lockport office to treat my very sick kitty. The surgeon was very slow on contacting me about the meds so needed by my cat. Never again!!! read more

INext time I would like to get a receipt for my charges at this point I don't know if there will be a next time due to a phone call from timberlines staff saying I was suppose to make a follow up appointment for my dogs seizures due to my dog not having any seizures because his diet change I will follow up when I feel it's needed I don't need a staff telling me what I was suppose to do very unproffessional and I will be damned if I will keep him on any medicine 3 pills a day when he is not experiencing seizures anymore. This place might be good for shot and meds. BUT if your pet NEEDS help they won't help . Just needed advice but wouldn't even look. How do you call your place a vet ? We have been taking our pets to this vet for some time and I have always had the feeling that he preemptively does every test possible to drive up the bill. Today we took our cat in for a foot issue and the tech told us they would run x-rays before they ever took the cat out of the crate. They kept boo all day (im guessing to charge more) and when I picked up our cat...it was fine. They gave her an antibiotic, sent us home with pain pills and said keep her off the foot. The bill was $304. My step dad was a vet and he would never tell a customer we are going to do x-rays before he ever looked at the cat, examine the foot before determining is next. We will never go back. We have a dog that has a benign growth on its head. He wants to charge over $1000 to take Karma's growth off. It's basically a skin tag...actually it is a big skin tag. He wants to sedate our dog "just in case" ...maybe he is just really cautious and I am wrong but my gut says he likes maximizing the bill. We have been recommended a new animal hospital that isnt into gouging people in Ft. Collins. They have 159 reviews and 4.7 stars so we will be taking our animals to Cambridge Animal Hospital even though we are 5 minutes from timberline and I only share this info because I HATE being taken advantage of and this guy has lost me trust and respect. read more

I don't trust this place at all. Bought a puppy at King Neptune's in Shorewood and if you buy a dog there, then you get a free package at Timberline which includes an exam. The doctor there (Roger Hitt) examined our puppy. We were concerned that he was bow-legged but Dr Hitt said No, he is fine.. can't find anything wrong with him. In our first 3 years of having the dog... he has ruptured ACL's on both of his knees... 6 months apart. He's a very cute dog but so many of our friends even comment on how bow-legged he is. I can see why the pet store and this veterinarian are affiliated and must have some kind of deal worked out. As if the vet would not say anything bad about the puppies King Neptune's sells. We feel we were absolutely misled and this was not an honest or professional evaluation of our puppy. Look at the picture... tell me he's not bow-legged. read more

Took my dog Trissera in for an injured claw, it was her second time at the vet, and she was incredibly nervous. The staff was so wonderful with her, and kept giving her praise, treats and lots of attention. When she finally saw the vet, Triss was very adamant about not letting her paw be touched: the doctors were able to calm her down and take her back to look at her paws and trim them. The veterinarian we saw was wonderful, and so polite: I would recommend anyone to come here. And Trissera is doing incredibly well now: and no more paw injury:) read more

Bought a new puppy that came with services from Timberline. They have been great with shots, neutering, and grooming visits.

My mom and I brought our dog of 16 years to be put down. As you can imagine this was extremely hard for the both of us. Our dog is not just a dog, to us she was a major part of our family. My mom was in complete tears while speaking with the receptionist and she had thee nastiest attitude and showed no type of empathy at all. The laziest staff at the front desk, I called saying I had a nursing female dog that needed a X-ray and dr Ralph check out the pups. Signs plastered call ahead wear mask, no entry. You call and all you get is a busy signal. I warn them about the nursing female going after someone who walked in my house that knows the dog very well. Same lady who answered my call brings out the sheet saying we only have the dog for X-ray. This exactly how the staff was before COVID. They don't allow anyone inside so they themselves don't have to wear a mask. Horrible customer service and very rude front desk staff (on multiple occasions). Through a scheduling error on my part, I missed an early morning appointment. Instead of being met with any type of customer care or, Heaven forbid *understanding*, the front desk associate was completely rude. I'm not here to pitch a fit about me not getting my way, I understand that they are running a business and I am the one who was in the wrong. But the truth is that the interaction and her tone of voice will cause me to bad-mouth this place any time it comes up. I've been a loyal client for years. While you may have to wait, it is such an advantage to be able to walk-in without an appointment 7 days a week! I've been to vets previously where I have waited longer even with an appointment. Dr. Hitt has been an absolute savior to my critter family. At one point, I had a cat who required a gastric feeding tube due to a surgical accident done at a specialty clinic. This required round the clock care and frequent veterinary check ups. Dr. Hitt not only took on the frequent check-ups, he actually made house calls after his long work days just to make things easier on me. He also came armed with supplies he felt would assist in my cat's care. This was a kind gesture I will never forget. When it was time for the feeding tube to be removed, I was nervous and reluctant to go back to the specialty clinic afraid of another problem. Dr. Hitt encouraged me to return to the same clinic as they knew how the procedure needed to be performed. He again took time from his busy schedule to call that clinic and advise them of my concerns, etc.. That call amounted to extreme care and customer service given when we returned there. What few people are aware of is just how much this man does for the rescues and shelters in the area, from discounted services to not requiring immediate payments for his services. I can honestly say, many pets have been saved due to his generosity. read more

I am selective with who treats my pets, as they are my (favorite...shh) family members. I have always gotten absolutely wonderful care for my pets here over the years! I especially appreciate that doctor is in it because he just genuinely enjoys caring for animals. There have been times I have needed to come in for an emergency, on the weekend, and I wasn't charged multiple EXTRA charges because it was an emergency or on the weekend, unlike the majority of vet practices in the area. Doctor makes sound decisions for treatment which are not driven by financial gain. Sometimes my pet may need an expensive procedure, but doc tries multiple other routes first (most of the time those work) before jumping to the most expensive option. I say this not to sound cheap-I will gladly pay whatever I need to to keep my pets healthy, happy, and safe-but I point this out because this factor shows me that the doctor is thinking of what is best for you the animals as opposed to how much money can be made per visit. I do not know why there are so many negative reviews, honestly. I have used six or seven vets in the 25 years I've lived in the area. Some of those vets were horrible, some were excellent but retired, and some were just so-so. After coming here I have not bothered to look elsewhere and have been very happy. I have had three dogs and two cats over that span of time which I have brought in for care, ranging from new puppy and kitten to elderly, end of life service. My mother also brings her dogs here and has done so for at least 10 years and is also very happy. read more

Dr. Rowe is the best! He offers compassionate pet care at affordable prices. He saved my dog's life with surgery to remove a mass and everything went smoothly. He has performed teeth cleaning for my dogs at prices a fraction of what other vets had quoted and he did a great job. The first time we went here I'll admit it wasn't the greatest looking place. I also am not fond of one of the receptionist but that's where the negatives stop. I have taken my dogs to 3 other vets until this one and we are so thankful to have found him. Our 3 year old dobie was having breathing problems and my husband went on a Sunday right before closing and the vet stayed to exam him and realized he had a heart condition. He told us there were specialist but he could do an ekg at his office and prescribe meds so we went that route. Thanks to him we were able to get an extra 6 months with our boy and when I took our other dog in after he passed the vet remembered and offered condolences. Since my last review, I lost my constant companion. He had cancer and it was so aggressive and so fast moving, Dr. Hitt was so caring and so honest. I would have given him every treatment available regardless of cost. Dr. Hitt let me know that not only would it not prolong his life it would make him sick and miserable. I made a very difficult decision to put my best friend to sleep. Dr. Hitt, obviously sensing my distress and worry that I was doing the right thing, cared enough to call me days later on his own time to tell me that he had reviewed all of the blood work and to reassure me that I had made the absolute right decision. His words to me were you loved him and he loved you and you did what was right. I will miss my best friend every day, but Dr. Hitt and his staff made an unbearable situation as best as it could be. read more

Takes forever to see the vet. They won't take appoiments so you wait the 1-1.5 hours to see the vet. One of the staff is very rude on the phone. We bought our dog and it came with a health plan for services for Timberline. Once this expires we will not come back. You can easily spend 2 hours here just waiting. read more

Adopted a puppy and was given a free checkup at Timberline. The extent of the checkup was weak. The doctor did not even look in the puppy's eyes did not open the mouth (teeth, gums, tongue, etc.), or check the puppy's coat. Just checked the joints and heart. Needless to say, we will be taking the puppy elsewhere in the future. Viewed the boarding area and it, like the whole facility, seemed in need ot better cleaning and maintenance. I guess that we got what we paid for, although Timberline had a chance to have a new patient, but scared us away. read more

I adopted a dog that needed to be spayed at a later date by Timberline animal hospital. The scar looked worse than our other dog did right after surgery. It was red and inflamed. We went back to Timberline and they said it was okay. A few days later we took her to another vet for a second opinion and they prescribed more meds and said the scar looked sloppy and wasn't healing correctly. We wont be back. There are other area vets that are much better. read more

Had our puppy neutered here. Called to make an appointment for the stitches to be removed and was told they do it during walk in hours. Ok....so we go to the walk in hours which are 4-6, we arrive at 5, wait a half hour to be told they won't take any more animals. How about you schedule post-op appointments for things like suture removal so you aren't forcing pupping to keep stitches in. I'm disgusted. The only reason we even used this vet was because it was free through the adoption agency. I can promise we will never be back. read more

I do not know how to review this. My beloved Francis the Bulldog, died while in Timberline's care. Francis went in for surgery to remove cysts from his front feet. I received a phone call at 9am the following morning that he "expired." Doctor Hitt told me he is responsible; was surprised; no specific cause of death. Told me the facility is monitored. He left his office at 8:30pm and my Francis was still alive and even looked at him, I was told. Francis was the last to have surgery that day. I called several times and both the staff and Dr. Hitt, suggested I could keep him overnight (at no charge), because he is still groggy and has not walked yet. The staff assured me that he would be taken care of. I trusted them with all my heart. The tech came in at 3am the following day and found my Francis had passed. Our hearts are aching with pain. We never even got to say goodbye. I never had any problems before at Timberline. Dr Hitt, to me is/was a good doctor up until now, in my personal opinion. Then to bet everything, I had to pay $488.50 for Francis' surgery, anesthetic, blood work and cremation! read more

I brought my senior dog here to be groomed multiple times and the groomer actually told us that because of our dogs age that we should just not have him groomed anymore, also that he was aggressive. Our dog has very few teeth left and is 7lbs. Give me a break! The worst was that I went to trim his nails and discovered his dewclaws were both wrapped around twice and digging into the pad. It was apparent that they hadn't been cut possibly in the last 2 or 3 appointment's rest of his nails were fine. The rest of the staff including the Vet are amazing but they seriously need a groomer that is better suited to handle animals of all ages and temperament. read more

We live over an hour away and trek it out to Joliet because this place is so awesome. Dr. Hitt is fantastic and the staff is super professional and friendly. Plus - the rates are a fraction of what we would be charged at our local vets. Our 11 mo old pup had knee cap surgery and it was a total success. Because of our drive and work schedules, Dr. Hitt suggested (free of charge) that we drop him off the night before for the surgery instead of taking time off work and battling the rush hour traffic. We thought he'd be traumatized by the whole experience (he was kept at Timberline for a few nights) but he goes totally nuts with happiness and excitement when he hears Dr. Hitts' voice in the next room. Yes, the wait stinks if you get there an it's crowded but for us, it was and is totally worth it. read more

I used to work at timberline a.h. for fourteen years,i messed up.otherwise it was the best animal hospital I worked at and I have worked at a few.dr.hitt is a great boss,and all these comments people are saying about pat just isn't true,at first I was a bit afraid of her,then as time went on she was the best.she is a caring lady if you work with her. Dr Hitt was recommended to myself by a few people I know well. My first experience with the complete animal hospital was outstanding. I went there after my dog was attacked by another dog and experienced numerous wound sites. The staff understood my situation dealt with my current state of mind and won over a customer for life. I took my dog here when he had a horrible cough. He was seen immediately and given an antibiotic which helped him tremendously and allowed us to sleep again. Timberline has also been sending reminders of his shots that are due which I would've easily forgotten myself. They have always been very helpful anytime we needed them.
