Waiting for the grand opening celebrations to begin with some of the Leader Dogs for the Blind

I have been here twice to date- once a few days before their grand opening, and then again for their ribbon cutting and grand opening celebrations. I'm a proud dog owner, and I will say that I do spoil my doglet every now and then. I am an advocate of small businesses, so when I saw that there was a pet store in the area that wasn't a huge chain, I knew I had to stop in. My first visit here I stopped to pick up some canned dog food. They have an incredible variety of health-conscious food for both dogs and cats; and all for comparable prices. I would have thought that maybe everything would be significantly more expensive here than at a big chain like PetSmart, but this wasn't the case. They have lots of brands of pet food that I have had difficulty tracking down at other pet stores. I try to be conscious of what I eat, so I like the same for my dog. Not only did they have pet food, they also have a large selection of leashes, collars, food bowls and mats, beds, chew toys, stuffed toys, treats, grooming supplies and general health/ wellness care items. It's a really nice one-stop-shop kind of place. I'm always a little hesitant to sign up for rewards programs because of how quickly all the emails and flyers take over my inbox/ mailbox. I signed up for the Premier Pet Supply (free) reward program, and so far am very pleased with them. The service that I have gotten both visits was great. At their grand opening ceremony I found out that the guy who rang up my order during my first visit was actually one of the owners! It's always cool to see the owners being involved with day-to-day functions. They had a really nice grand opening ceremony where they had lots of local community support from organizations like the Humane Society and the Leader Dogs for the Blind. That was really cool to see. It is really obvious to me that these guys aren't just in it for the money- they really do care about our furry friends. I wish these guys nothing but success!

    Newly adopted!

Adopted a pet from the huge Detroit Zoo adoption weekend and samples package included a coupon from store. I purchased a crate that I realized, after a couple of days, was too small for our dog. Although the box was thrown out, they let me exchange the crate for a bigger size, only paying the cost difference. I was even given the adoption event discount. Wow! Locations are a bit far from me but I'mwilling to make the drive for the excellent customer service of the staff.

Cat's can be fussy eaters, so that's not a secret. As a kid, I don't remember having a Pet Smart or Petco growing up here in Metro Detroit. But, there was a Pet Supplies Plus, and I remember going there to get dog food for the dog that we had. So, obviously I'm familiar with the brand. Now that I'm a pet owner, I do shop around for supplies depending on what I need. Lately, it's been cat food for Puddy, since she had kidney problems as she's getting older. Pet Supplies Plus is the only place around that carries individual cans of the Royal Canin 12 + aging chicken flavored loaf wet cat food in store. I buy 4 or 5 can's at a time, since a case of food (24 cans) is WAY to much and I don't have room to store it. I've checked with other chain stores and they only carry the chunks which Puddy will not eat. She's a loaf lover. LOL. The joy of shopping here is they always have the product in stock. No questions asked. I've done curbside pickup with them as well, and unlike Pet Smart, I'm not required to have the app on my phone. I just login on their website, order it and they let me know when the foods ready for pickup. I know they have delivery, but since I'm a whole mile and a half away, I can get it myself. I also love the selection of items when I walk in. Plenty of product to choose from, and they also have a specialty cat nip that I can't find anywhere else. Puddy doesn't particularly care for most cat nip, but I heard about this one type somewhere and found that Pet Supplies Plus has it. None of the other chains do. Thank you Pet Supplies Plus, you really rock it out. You keep my cat happy by having her favorite food in stock, so it makes me look good when I come home. (you know how cat's can be!) I do appreciate everything you do for pets.

We've lived on the eastside until recently and had been going to the same private groomer since Charlie had her first grooming experience, almost nine years ago. So it was with great trepidation that we took Charlie to a "Big Box" groomer. I was immediately put at ease when we entered and were greeted warmly by the two young ladies at the grooming reception desk. They welcomed Charlie as if she were their own dog and I was truly overjoyed when I picked her up a few hours later and saw the beautiful job Joyce had done with Charlie's cut. One of the best cuts our pup has ever had! Thank you, again, Joyce, and to all of you who took such great care of Charlie and her nervous dad! We'll see you all in a couple months! Sincerely, John G.

Hello, I'm writing…read moreto express serious concern over a recent grooming exper ience with Joyce at your 26 mile rd Utica, location on 06/20/2025. It was immediately obvious that she was inexperienced and unsure of how to groom my Pomeranian. The haircut was uneven, completely botched, and to my horror, she even cut off my dog's whiskers. Since that visit, my dog has been noticeably traumatized--nervous, jumpy, and not acting like himself. Whiskers are essential to a dog's well-being, and any properly trained groomer should know that. I understand that employees must learn, but it should never be at the expense of someone's pet. I ask that Petco better supervise and train new groomers before assigning them to customers. This was a very distressing experience, and I won't be bringing my dog back. Sincerely, Justa

Most employees are well rehearsed on animal needs or at least the ones that they own themselves. I signed up for the pet club to earn points and get discounts since I have 2 fish tanks and 14 female Guinea pigs! They were super helpful and the owner was extremely friendly when giving us information. They went above and beyond when trying to find the best deal for a 60 gallon tank. Even helped load the heavy oak stand into the truck after hours. Helped with tank stocking so it would be a very peaceful community with lots of live plants which are low maintenance. Wonderful selection of Guinea pig toys, mine can't get enough of them! My ONLY complaint with this store is the sale of live animals. They have wayyyy too many Guinea pigs in the cages and too many rabbits in small wire-bottom cages. They do however have plenty of food, water, ect but no room to run & high chances of disease spreading. Rabbits and Guinea pigs run a high chance of spreading diseases which are deadly to Guinea pigs. The acrylic tanks/cages allows for too much ammonia build up which can cause URIs. For an unsuspecting new pet parent, they would shrug off as sneezing. Antibiotics are fairly cheap but has to be bought from a vet after diagnosis which many parents wouldn't do for a "childs pet". There are soooo many Guinea pigs in shelters and rescues in need of new homes and wish that they'd try rehoming before mass breeding at the store. Also, don't buy hamster, Guinea pig, or small animal cages here! None are large enough or for hamsters offer deep enough trays to fulfill the minimum requirement of 6-8in of bedding. For Guinea pigs, Midwest, C&C, or homemade is the way to go. Hamsters have more suitable options both store bought and homemade, just do some research!
