I got my betta, corydoras, and mystery and nerite snails from petco. My mom got the same animals from petsmart. Mine are thriving, hers are miserable and one of her corys died. (We have the same tank, heater, filter, substrate, plants, and decorations.) And we used the same water with around 90 drops of betta conditioner and we cycled the water for same same time (also, I forgot to mention that she got her snails from petco too and they are the only animals in her tank that are thriving.) Really says something about how petsmart treats their animals. read more

Groomers and managers are really rude and disrespectful i took my dog to get groomed and he had no matting on him "mind you he never has matting" and i check him everytime i bring take him (hes a mini poodle) and i told the girl hes good he has no matting just wanting a bath and hair cut she said yes hes good and has no matting. I come back and she charged a dematting fee and charged me for a different breed than my dog is! Charged me for my dog being a "goldendoodle" and not a mini poodle because his hair makes him look bigger. The groomer Jordyn M lied and said that he had matting everywhere and "im lucky she didnt charge me more" her words exactly! And that the store manager Amy said to change my dogs breed from a poodle to a goldendoodle which is a $35-40 up charge! I escalated the problem and call corporate because this was the 5th time of them trying to change my dogs breed to get more money and when i told them that they had blocked my account from making anymore appointments! DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE TO GET GROOMED ESPECIALLY BY JORDYN M!! read more

PetSmart - This is my miniature poodle - Pet Training Near Me - Rochester Hills, Michigan

I like PetSmart and shop here on the regular. But, this isn't my preffered store for a few reasons. First, it's on Rochester Road, so it can be tricky getting in and out. It's also in a busy shopping area, so there's always lots of traffic. Even though it's like all the other Petsmarts I've been too, they don't have some of the services that I like. For example, the one off Adams Road near Hamlin has a pets hotel. This location doesn't have a pet hotel, so I don't use them as much. Not that I'm always boarding the cat, but it really does determine which location I use. Also, I noticed that they don't have the doggie day care here either. It's mostly just the store, the groomers and the vet. But, they do also have an adoption area that's easier to access with for getting up close and personal, and they seem to have more adoption events then the Adams road location. I still shop here from time to time, but since their services are limited, I'm not a regular. Great prices, friendly staff and an awesome selection of product keeps me coming back. read more

Had my dog groomed here today. Although the groom was done alright the groomer came out with him and said to us we need to bring him more bc he growls when his nails are trimmed. I informed her that he is a rescue and he was abused as a puppy, she replied with " if you bring him more he'll get used to it." No. He won't he's never going to enjoy strangers cutting his nails. He was abused. When I said that to her, she replied with " well you haven't been here since April." I told her we go to different groomers based on availability because he is a husky and has a heavy coat, we don't want to wait long periods to get him groomed so we go wherever is open first. I just do appreciate someone who doesn't know my dog to try and tell me what to do with him and accusing us of not brining him enough. We don't always go to the same place. My dog is reactive and if you don't like him growling when he gets nails trimmed just ask us not to come back. Every other groomer has been ok with us telling them about his story and how he was rescued and abused so he growls. They're ok w it and don't try and tell us we're not brining him enough that's why he growls. Anyways we won't be back here read more

Don't expect any real customer service here, I asked for a specific cat flea and tick collar, the young girl who I asked said oh it's right here around the corner and pointed to the section and said if it's not in stock then you can find something similar here to replace it. She spent less than five seconds helping me, on a topic I know nothing about, and I was shopping specifically for a DoorDash order so I had to get the exact item . She quickly departed back around the corner to chitchat with her coworker which was obviously more important. I had to refund the item to the customer for the door Dash order, and Petsmart lost a sale because they couldn't help me find a proper replacement. The store associate was rude and abrupt, and obviously had no customer support skills whatsoever read more

We have been taking our dog (9lb toy poodle) to get a haircut here for years. Never paid more than $47 which is their standard price. On one of our dog's most recent visits, a groomer clipped our dog's tongue causing our dog to bleed a lot and require medication. Ever since that visit our dog gets a little anxiety during his haircut, and Petsmart has decided to now try to charge us a "special handling fee" because of THEIR MISTAKE. Absolutely ridiculous and rude customer service. Would never recommend taking you pet to a Petsmart for grooming, EVER. They mess up, and they try to up-charge customers for it. read more

Pet Smart is my "go to" store for Beasty supplies. I'm always greeted when I walk in and asked if I need any help. I can count on this store having what I need in stock and trust their regular prices are better than most other pet supply stores. They have a great selection for just about any type of pet, I'm really pleased with their section for Cats, most place don't offer much for feline pets. They have an instore grooming and an Animal Clinic. They offer dog training too. read more

The groomers are friendly but I had a horrible experience with my dog. I do not think they have the experience needed and are definitely run very corporate. What I mean by that is you are just a number and this is just an assembly line. Still an ok place for supplies but in our area we have so many small businesses we can support for grooming and supplies. I'll be checking those out. read more

Of course PetSmart is a big national chain.. But the employees here in the Rochester store make this so much more! I have to say that my experience with this store has always been great because of the Employees that I've interacted with. No matter if you pets are dogs, cats or fish - I find their staff very knowledgeable and more than willing to help. We also took our dog here for obedience training and loved both of the instructors we had. We still run into them when we bring him to the store - and he still gets all excited to see them again. read more

I love coming to this Petsmart! I've been a proud hamster owner for most of my life and I've bought a couple hammies from here :) In 2013 I found Dopey, a short haired Syrian, here. I didn't realize his ear was a little nibbled up until I brought him home; I won't blame the store, though. It's common for hamster pups to wrestle with their siblings and it most likely happened before he even arrived at Petsmart. There was no blood or scabbing on the nibbles; his ears were completely healed and it never caused him any pain. He was a great hammy; he never bit anyone and always wanted to cuddle your hand. This summer I bought a fancy Syrian hamster, Rocky. He's black and white like an Oreo, or a cow, and very healthy. He's jumpy, but that's due to his youth and energy. I appreciate the diversity of coat colors and hamster types here. I've seen a nice range of beige, black, chocolate brown, black and white, orangish brown with speckles of white, grey, solid white, you name it! I do wish the genders were more diverse. Whenever I come here, I ALWAYS see male Syrian hamsters. Never have I seen a female here. I'd like to get a female hamster in the future, but I'm afraid I'll have to search someplace else :( I really like the wide selection of hamster toys, treats, and shelters. Every time I walk down that isle I can't help but thing "OOHHH I want this! I want that!" They have the cutest toys for hamsters! And there's so many treats and chew toys to choose from, which is great for the few picky hammies I've had in the past. My only real complaint is that I wish they sold more brands of hamster food. I've seen Kaytee, Oxbow, All Living Things, and National Geographic, but I really wish they sold Hazel hamster food. I have to order it online and it's pricier, but my hamsters enjoy it. read more

While we were there we met with there trainer to see about classes for her..he was very nice, knowledable & it works!!! We only sat down with The trainer for about 20 min. PetSmart grooming was recommended by our dogs' vet. Groomers got our Beagle and Sheepdog in at the last minute. Service was pleasant and knowledgable; both dogs looked great; the prices were reasonable; and they got both dogs done in just over two hours. We started with PetSmart after parting ways with our longstanding former groomer due to some concerns about the way the dogs were being handled during the grooming process. This was a blessing in disguise. We are very happy with PetSmart and will continue to use them. read more

He went to this location and tried to purchase a fish for his 3.5 gallon tank, the lady there told him that all fish need a 20 gallon to sustain life and obviously that's not true!! Let me start by saying that the manager, Joe, is incredible. He is singlehandedly the only reason my boyfriend and I still go here. He's very knowledgeable and friendly. However, the dog trainer here is the reason I am giving such a low rating. I am not sure of his name but is a taller guy with glasses and a goatee and he is unbelievably aggressive. Every single time we go in and he's there he is screaming at dogs and their owners, pushing dogs, yanking on their collars, and overall being extremely rude to the people and abusive to the dogs. A couple of years ago I took my dog into the store when he was still a puppy just so I could shop around with him. My dog was very young and energetic so of course he sniffed and pulled in the leash a little. The trainer came out of nowhere and pulled my dogs leash, telling me I was walking him wrong. First off, he was a PUPPY! Of course he's going to be a little excited. Second, it was none of this guy's business. I was so angry but I didn't know what to do. He had yanked the leash right out of my hand to show me how to "walk my dog properly" when in reality all he was doing was punishing him for doing normal puppy things. This man infuriates me and I hope that his actions catch up with him when it comes to the management of the store. read more

I had my two Yorkies groomed there with Sara & Theresa. They did an awesome job! They listened and did not cut them too short which usually happens with other groomers. I have even told a groomer in the past to keep their coat longer and they shaved them! So I really appreciate that Sara and Theresa did exactly as I asked. I just made an appointment to have them groomed with them again. Both Sara and Theresa were polite and easy to work with too. Only complaint is that I think their grooming charge is a little steep and I wish they had some kind of discount when you have two dogs groomed, but the groomers have nothing to do with that - that is a PetSmart concern. I went to this location to buy a betta fish. Betta fish have to be kept alone unless they are mating, so these fish are kept in small cups with a couple holes poking out. This is obviously not good conditions for a fish to live. After looking for my perfect fish companion, I found 3 dead betta fish. This is disgusting, traumatizing for children, and a totally turn off for those who are looking to purchase a fish. The worst part is when I went and told somebody about the dead fish, they just said "ok" and then continued to do NOTHING about the multiple dead fish. I wonder how long these fish go without food. Or water changes. So awful and sad!! read more

i went in today looking for a specific dog bed that friends have been posting on social media (out of state) I called the store yesterday was told to check late today or the following day because they didn't put out the holiday shipment just yet I go to the store about 4pm and was treated with complete disrespect by a heavy set dark haired male cashier when i asked about the bed I showed him a picture of it and was yelled at saying he's never seen it they don't have it was it even on the website I said I couldn't find it on the site and tried to explain my phone call and was talked over I have managed a pet store myself and retail and was appalled I was spoke to like this if one of my employees ever remotely treated any of my customers like this they would have been let go that day that is not customer service or how you speak to any person I will be calling the store manager and corporate I find it ironic there is a help wanted sign on their sidewalk read more

Last week when I saw the Bettas at this store they were in filthy conditions! Completely neglected. I couldn't imagine how much ammonia they were living in as it looked like they never had their water changed in the cups. Most were either sick or dying with many having visible disease on their bodies. So cruel, no living animal should ever have to live like that! read more

Bottom line don't trust the grooming manager or staff..your appointment time is meaningless and apparently your time matters even less...they had me wait over 40 minutes before coming back out to let me know the groomer had another dog after the one she told me she was just finishing up...and if you don't want your dog in a crate there is an additional charge of $11...no communication skills no manners just complete incompetence and rudeness! Don't waste your time or money! Oh did I forget that their call center in Arizona makes the appointments at the wrong store? So the sweet overworked understaffed girl at one location had to tell me to go to the other store and even after calling to let them know I would be 5 minutes late had no issue in wasting my time my gas...it's not about getting a discount or a free groom they could not pay me to leave my dog at that place to be ignored in a crate for hours while the manager eats her cupcake! read more
