As luck would have it, we were the only ones signed up for this tour. The St. John's River Eco tours run 7 days a week - twice per day. They're also available for private tours or if you need a captain to drive a boat while you fish, relax, focus on photography or enjoy an adult beverage or two. Food and drinks are allowed on the boat, with the exception of red wine (red wine + an all white boat = potential permanent wine stains). Captain Colin was engaging, very knowledgeable and personable- he even back up the boat a few times for my husband and I to get a better view of some wildlife! We will definitely be back!

Our party ended up being 20 of us and we were able to share a unique link for purchasing tickets so our party was all linked together as one party. When we first boarded, there really wasn't any direction as to what to do or what we could do so we just sat down at our table and waited for someone. We weren't sure if we could or should go to the bar to order drinks or if we could walk around before dinner. It took a while (10+ minutes) for anyone to approach our table.) Once someone approached our table we ordered drinks and then walked around the boat. We went to the top deck to take some photos and watch the sunset before dinner started. Once dinner started we were able to go the buffet as munch as we wished. Since it was Italian night they had all Italian dishes, none of the dishes really stood out but nothing was bad. It was good, but not like wow! While eating they started pouring our wine samples. We got two red and two white samples and a sommelier talked us through each sample. After the first two samples they gave us a break to walk around, go to the bathroom, etc. I would have preferred a shorter break in the middle of dinner and more time in the beginning so that we could spend more time on the deck while the sun set. Tickets for this event were $65 and in my opinion it was worth it. We had a great time and it was something I could check of my bucket list!

My newly created memory is so dear to me now. Just starting from the entry of the shop to pick up tickets. The staff was so bubbly with smiles and welcoming energy to assist you once you came in. Then after receiving our tickets we got to walk around a bit to enjoy the breeze. Now 15 minutes before our sail time they started guiding everyone to their designated tables. Once we were seated we were informed of all our important safety information while aboard and locations of the restrooms. Then our server came over to take our drinks. Our table was filled with charcuterie boards with fruit and cheese with sweet tea, watermelon tea, and water available within arms reach. We had a live performance throughout the interior time. They even sung requested songs. I enjoyed watching all of the other married couples get up and dance. My husband even got me to get a dance floor for one of the songs. Lol I was so nervous but I really enjoyed it. Once the food started rolling in we started with a house salad and bread. Then we got up and walked around the ship. We took photos and watched the sunset. It was so peaceful with amazing songs playing softly in the background. Once they announced dinner was being served we headed down to our table. Now about my Savory Herb Roasted Half Chicken with a White Wine Supreme Chicken Sauce.I chef's kiss for sure. I picked mashed potatoes and corn for my sides. Anyone who knows me know I love me some corn. Lol the chicken was so juicy all the way through. Flavor was perfect from the white meat to the dark meat parts. They offered to rebook us on another day and time of our choosing. Well, I happened to be in the car when they called so accessing my schedule while I was on the phone, was not an easy task. The lady on the phone seemed SUPER annoyed with me the entire conversation. TWICE she asked if I would like to call her back. I'm sorry- are you THAT busy that you can't wait for two seconds while I pull up my calendar?!! I was so irritated by this lady's rude behavior that I almost said forget it. Refund us. We don't want to support you. You are being rude. However, my in laws were coming from out of town and I wanted them to experience the springs and the manatees. I had an entire week of activities planned for us so I just needed a second to check my calendar. If the lady who called was SOOOO BUSY, then why did she choose that time to call me? I will not get over this. Her customer service got the job done and we rescheduled but I will not forget how rude she was. On the day of our tour, we checked in at the little shack on the dock. Our tour guide was super funny! He was narrating our tour and making jokes. He was interacting with everyone on the boat. It was a cold day but we were able to see one large sunbathing gator and some hawks and other birds. The manatees were best seen from the shoreline walkway. We left a large tip for the tour guide and thanked him. He probably has no idea that the lady in the office is a real jerk.

This outfit, specifically Shawn, has the competition beat, hands down. Some tour operators distinguish themselves by being entertainers and showmen. Shawn is a good natured and knowledgeable guide that doesn't try to make himself the star of the show. He's a highly experienced boatman, knowledgeable about the local lore, the weather, the plants and wildlife, the techniques and habits of the sportsmen, and all the spots that various animal species like to hang out under different light and weather conditions. His familiarity with the unique coves and crannies of the ever changing wetland terrain is astonishing. He clearly takes it as a point of pride that he can remember and track down the animals you want to lay eyes on. He also makes the ride itself interesting and enjoyable because of his piloting skill. His lifelong love of navigating the wetlands is positively infectious. Rather than having the feeling that I've already been there and done that, I could look forward to riding with Shawn again and again.

We felt like we were with family while on our tour because they were so kind, caring and fun to be with. I surprised my husband for his birthday and he enjoyed it so much , he said it was the highlight of his day. Our kids are already planning our next trip. They said they loved Mike and Jody so much they wanted to go to the zoo with them one day. Lol. We saw Dolphins, manatees, puffer fish, an alligator, pelicans, and herons. I highly recommend this if there is a launch when you are visiting the area. The boat is very clean, well maintained and a super smooth ride. We could have stayed out there all day with him.
