Came here with my bestie who is tying the knot in about 3 months. With a tight timeline and a strict budget, the bride-to-be was definitely feeling a bit apprehensive coming into the appointment. The gals at Premiere Couture did such a great job to turn the mood around and really put her in a much better state of mind about everything. The whole process, start to finish, was just amazing. Upon arrival we were shown to where the bride would be trying on dresses. There was a nice fitting room that sat adjacent to the mirror area where there was a bench and two arm chairs for anyone else attending the session. It was a bright and airy set-up that worked very well. Our consultant had about 4 or 5 dresses already pulled and ready to try on when we arrived. They had called the bride the day before to get a better idea of what she was looking for, the shape and style, etc, so that they would have a good jump-off point. The very first dress the bride tried is the one she ended up going with! Although the bride did indeed try on several others, at no point did we feel rushed, or that we were spending too much time. The consultants were super patient and wanted to make sure the bride got the perfect dress. Once the dress was chosen, we even did a fun little "I said yes" photo shoot to capture the moment. You could just tell from the smile on the bride's face how special and great she was feeling. I purchased my wedding dress and flower girl dresses here. When I returned with a friend to look for her wedding dress, I was horrified by the treatment I received. I asked to hang a dress next to her for color reference for bridesmaids and was scolded like a child. She literally took the dress out of my hands and rudely told me to sit down. It was my daughters first homecoming. We went from store to store in Madison and my daughter was in tears because we could find a dress. Its really sad but department stores don't carry any plus size for young girls that want to look beautiful for homecoming. Its now 1pm on Sunday afternoon, I frantically started searching the Web and found Premier Couture in Cambridge, WI open till 4pm. Premiere has some great stuff, no question. Their staff are nice, by and large, and the location is central. I'm not a big fan of Premiere, however, for several reasons. First, the owner was very rude to me the first time I was in there. I vowed never to go back, but dress shopping in Madison is not always easy. (Vera's, often overlooked, has a vast selection of dresses -- it's not the place you think you'll find your dress, but it's where I figured out what I really wanted, and I'm grateful for that.) Second, their selection is focused at the upper end of the spectrum. I think that young brides (unlike me) may be swayed by the desire to go to a boutique like Premiere; however, their dresses are more expensive than elsewhere (again, not a huge huge fan of Vera's, but they do have this going for them -- great dresses for a variety of budgets), and unnecessarily so. Third, their selection is small -- they don't have many dresses to try on in stock, and ditto for bridesmaids. I would stay away from Premiere if you aren't a willowy young person. I can't for the life of me figure out why they don't have many even slightly larger dresses -- that seems ridiculous in the upper midwest/modern America. It does feel a little offensive. But I will say that their customer base does seem to be young women, who tend to be smaller, and who are I think less likely to shop around for better deals or a better selection. Overall, a good place for what it is, but I would not begin or focus my search for a wedding gown here. read more

After touring (read as sticking my head in, feeling judged, and retracting my head out of) various Chicago bridal shops large and small, I conclude that this place in Madison has 'em all beat in terms of quality of dresses and service... not to mention the cinnamon roll-like treats they occasionally have. My mom and I came to Premiere Couture to look at bridesmaid dresses. I'd seen a couple I liked online and the company states that Premiere carried the designs. So in we came to check them out and maybe try them on in person. They had the dresses, and we *tried* to try them on. But all their samples seemed to top out at a formalwear size 8 (a normal 6). While I'm a plus-sized gal, my mother is a size 8/10 - not large by any means. And she couldn't even try a dress in a *similar* style on because they just didn't have any. So she half tried-on the dress we liked and I had to ask my out-of-town bridesmaids if they would mind taking the time to find a place near them to try the dress on as we wanted to see it on a real person (not the company model) before making up our minds. The saleslady at Premier was polite enough. She seemed to think it was quite common that they only had one of each dress as a sample and mostly only having 1 size in the whole store (having been to other shops I know this is, in fact, uncommon). She was nice enough about it, but that combined with largely being left to our own devices during our appointment (yes, I had made an appointment) really left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. In the end, I ordered from a different bridalwear shop (not even in the Madison area) and was given amazing service. I think Premier probably is alright if you are small and don't expect much service, but for the price brides and bridesmaids pay for gowns, I expect a little bit more. read more

I went in with great hopes as a good friend of mine got her dress here. I told the woman (who I believe is the owner) what I was looking for and my budget. She completely ignored my budget (went way over) and proceeded to take a dress off a mannequin for me to try on. I said "Um, I'm so not that size." to which she replied "Just use your imagination" After SQUEEZING me into 4 dress, not even coming close to having the back come together, I was SO humiliated. There is no way I could conceive of spending way too much on these dresses without them even coming close to fitting. She literally ignored my tears (yes I was crying at this point) and said "just try on one more." I said "I'm sorry. This is so uncomfortable for me." So while she very aggressively undid me from all these hooks she said in a very mean tone "Well I'm sorry if I can't complete with the department stores. I only have ONE sample SIZE to try on." I'm not asking them to have 2-28, as I know they are a small local store but how about a 10 and a 18? All women would much rather be cinched into a dress rather than feel like a stuffed pig. The topper? When we left I said "Good bye" and "sorry" and she gave me a snotty look! Don't waste your time on this store. Unless of course you are a size 6 and have lots of cash. read more

After visiting MANY other bridal shops, I decided to visit Premiere. I initially thought that it was a longshot to find my dress here - I assumed most of their dresses would be out of my price range. I was wrong! Having tried on a zillion dresses before this, I knew what I wanted but just had not found it yet, and was beyond exhausted with the process. When I stepped into Premiere and told them what I was looking for, the owner immediately brought me a dress that she thought I would love - and I did! It was THE best dress I could have imagined. They carry a small number of dresses compared to most other shops, but they know each dress inside and out. Every dress is beautiful and of great quality. Premiere was my first stop in the hunt for the dress, and I was pleasantly surprised to find the reviews to be true: this place is lovely! Sarah was more than accommodating and friendly in helping me figure out what styles worked best (though EVERYTHING looked great)! I was also impressed that so many of their gowns are handmade right here in the USA or in Canada with impeccable workmanship, and the price points are realistic .. not to mention a terrific selection of bridesmaid dresses to complete your choices. While I haven't "said yes" to any particular style yet, Sarah definitely helped me narrow down to a few options. I look forward to seeing them later this summer. Amazing staff and owners, nice selection of dresses. I had two fantastic shopping experiences with Mary Jo, once when I was originally shopping for my dress and another just four days before my wedding. When I was originally shopping for my dress in September 2017, I called the shop one afternoon because I wanted to dress shop by myself (overwhelmed by shopping with my mother -- who hasn't been there?). They fit me in just a couple hours later and Mary Jo was the one who helped me figure out that the dress style I thought I wanted wasn't super flattering for my body and found a style that was perfect for me. I ended up buying a dress from Vera's in that style a couple weeks later. Cut to four days before my wedding in June 2018. After my fifth fitting for dress alterations, it became clear my seamstress couldn't figure out how to make my dress fit me correctly. Even though I had purchased my dress from Vera's, my first thought was to call Premiere because I had loved the shopping experience there back in September and felt they were more likely to do whatever they could to make sure I had a dress. They had me come right out to the store and helped me find a backup dress. They recommended a different tailor (Mario at Monetti's in Madison), sold me the dress at 20% off and said if Mario could fix my original dress, they would let me return the backup dress. Mario is a magician (but that's another review), he was able to make my original dress fit like a glove in the two days before my wedding. Premiere let me return that backup dress and even called to check on me to see how things were going with Mario. Basically, I didn't actually buy anything from Premiere yet they were still fantastic to me. If I hadn't gone there, I wouldn't have known about Mario and might not have had a dress in time for my wedding. The staff honestly care more a about you finding the perfect dress than making money. EDIT TO MY PREVIOUS REVIEW: This shop does not do alterations on site. I knew this when I purchased my dress. When I brought my dress to a tailoring shop, I found out that my $2,000+ dress has been constructed poorly (missing a waist band, lining not sewn in correctly, etc.). I will now have to pay $900 in alterations to make it wearable for my wedding day. I wish I had noticed these things when I picked up my dress from the dress shop, but...unlike my consult...I would have had no idea what to look for to make sure it was made correctly (and why should I have to check for that?!?). Buyer beware. ---------- My first experience wedding dress shopping was actually with my cousin when she was shopping for her own dress. We went to a well known store in Madison, ****** Bridal, as well as a few others. I was immediately turned away by how rude the lady at the front was, and how inattentive the "consultant" was. It felt like they didn't want us to be there. I couldn't imagine doing this for myself. I normally am not a fan of small, boutique type shops, as they make me feel overwhelmed how everything is packed in. I decided to give Premiere Couture a shot (1) because it was close to my family and (2) I got a $100 gift card for booking an appointment at the Madison Bridal Expo. They sent several emails confirming the appointment, what to expect, what to bring, etc., and called a few days prior to confirm. I brought my mom, grandma, and one of my bridesmaids to my appointment. We arrived a few minutes early and were greeted immediately by the lady in front who chatted briefly and then introduced us to the consultant. Complete 180 from previous experiences at other stores (where they check you in for your appt, make you wait 20+ min past your appt, glare at you from their desk like it's going to make you go away #davidsbridal). My consultant, Bobbi Jo (?), was great. This was my first time trying on dresses for myself, and I didn't have a great vision of what I wanted. I showed her a few Pinterest pictures and she took it from there, pulling in dresses and modifying based on my opinion. She was a pro dealing with my opinionated mom/grandma who wanted to rule the appointment. I never felt uncomfortable changing in front of her in the dressing room - hey, some people like me do worry about these things ahead of time. She was able to find "my" dress that just felt right, and helped me modify it to add on straps and a beaded belt. We spent about 1.5 hours there. I would recommend 100%. read more

This was the first and only bridal shop I visited, and it was a great experience! Tess was super nice and helpful, even when things took a few tries to get on right. She was also very enthusiastic and helped play a big part in making the day special. Tess didn't push anything on me at all; I didn't feel like I was being sold or pushed into something I didn't like. She was willing to take all the time in the world with me and even suggested things that I wouldn't have thought of. They have a beautiful, unique selection of dresses with what I thought was a very fair price range. If you are looking for a dress just like everyone else's, you should look elsewhere. I ended up buying a dress that was completely different than what I thought I wanted but the moment I put it on, it just felt like me. And I was so glad to be supporting a local, Monroe Street business instead of some big chain store. read more

I live in NYC and looked at a couple bridal salons there--the experience left me bewildered and basically wanting to order something from J Crew and call it a day, just so I could avoid the gestalt of most bridal shops. (Only problem: I didn't want any of J Crew's dresses. And I like to support small businesses whenever possible.) Good thing my sister had me pop in Premiere Couture during a visit home. The ladies here are helpful, patient, friendly, nonjudgmental. They really listened to me, not just to what I wanted in terms of style but also price. The selection is fantastic. They don't push you at Premiere, and I love that. In fact, 6 months elapsed between when I tried on my dress and when I bought it. (It being an Amy Kuschel dress that I adore.) Another reviewer said that they really do make you feel beautiful at the store, and it's true. When I walked in the door I felt totally "bleh" about the whole idea of getting a dress, and by the time I walked out I actually felt lovely (despite the fact that I hadn't brushed my hair that day, or put on makeup, was full of cheese and croissants, and was wearing coke-bottle glasses from last century), and that was so nice. read more

The moment I walked into Premiere Couture, I just had a wonderful feeling of confidence that I was going to find my dress there. I told the attendant, Rosemarie that I only wanted to try on dresses that came in the color ivory, and she explained that would give me a ride range because they pretty much only carried ivory dresses. I described for her all the things I was looking for in a dress, and she found me not one, but two dresses matching my exact criteria, one of which ended up as my dress. I'm pretty sure Rosemarie was almost as emotional about my dress as I was. Everytime I called the store, she knew exactly who I was, which always comforted me. She also gave me a bottle of champagne with my purchase to toast the wonderful occasion. We also purchased our bridesmaid dresses here. The only disadvantage of purchasing from Premiere Couture is that they do not have an in house tailor, so I had to go elsewhere for alterations, and Premiere could not store my dress for me. As an out of state bride, that was a hard thing for me to deal with, but something I got over quickly when I found a great tailor in my home state. Overall, the staff could not have been more warm and less pushy about selling me a dress. Rosemarie knew immediately what I was looking for and paired me in the perfect dress for my day. I would recommend this smaller boutique for any bride looking for a more custom bridal experience than you'd receive at some of the larger, chain bridal stores. read more

What a wonderful dress shop! They feature really great formal gowns, and some great casual dresses as well, at reasonable prices. I'm disappointed in the amount of accessories they carry, but have found a couple pieces there that I couldn't pass up. They are located on a quaint Main Street with additional fun shops, so it's worth the drive to the country. I recently visited this shop with my sister in law who was searching for her perfect wedding dress. We had a large party of sisters (9 of us and the mother of the bride too!) for the big day and I could not be more pleased with our experience!! The staff at Premiere Couture was outstanding! Every single associate that we interacted with went out of their way to make sure my sister's day was special but also to make sure that WE had a special, memorable, and delightful experience. It was a FREEZING cold winter day and we were instantly met with warmth and smiles when we entered the adorable boutique. They had so many small touches that I really appreciated... water and snacks and an expanded seating section for our large party. My sister in law had MANY many dresses to chose from and she really appreciated that the staff was respectful of her budget. The associate she worked with directly really listened to what she was looking for as far as style, shape, and coverage and made her feel comfortable throughout the try-on experience. When they did the first reveal (so nice how they do it with the curtain... creates such moment for those special to the bride as well as the bride) we all "ohhhhh aahhhhh" and most of us instantly had tears in our eyes. After providing tissues, the team at Premier continued to wow us with dress after dress that made my sister look like a princess. In the end she "said yes to the dress" that is absolutely perfect for her big day and we all cried. Our experience ended with yet another special touch... a personalized group photo of my sister in her dress with all of us who love her so! While we were in the store I got to see several young ladies trying on prom dresses and I was impressed with the size and depth of their selection. If I were to get married again or were a bridesmaid, I would absolutely go to Premiere to look for my perfect dress. A few of my favorite highlights: great service and very attentive-it didn't take me two hours to try on two dresses like it has at past bridal shops, the shop itself is adorable and I lo ved the fact that I wasn't overwhelmed with 500 different dresses upon walking in; the dresses are limited, but I could have seen myself in every dress there compared to one or two out of the 500 elsewhere, and finally, my mom was able to purchase her mother of the bride gown there as well! I went to Premiere Couture to look for my wedding dress. I had a ok experience there. I received a warm welcome and Laura was very helpful and very knowledgeable. I did find "the perfect dress" there and was in love with it. However it was more than twice my budget. Never once was I asked about my budget and so there for I was heart broken that I was not able to afford "my dress"!!! I get I too should have said to her where I wanted to be with the price but I was so excited to be trying on dresses for the first time and I guess to me that is something they should ask right away to not have this happen. About an hour into my appointment I'm informed that "my time was up" and that the next appointment gets my dressing room. I was standing in "the dress" and trying to desperately find a way to afford this dress and another bride goes into my dressing room to start her appointment, but all my clothes and purse were still in there. I was not impressed or comfortable with that!!! Never once was I told that I only got a hour to shop. Who can wedding dress shop in a hour??? So for me to get out of this dress the other bride had to come out so I could go in, and get dressed. I then felt like I was just another person in the store. When I had booked my appointment I had also told them that I wanted to look at bridesmaid dresses while we were there. I was told no one was available to help with that so we were kind of on our own. There was no dressing rooms available so they told my sister she could go into the bathroom to try on a dress. When she took her shoes off in there she discovered that their toilet was leaking and water was all over the floor and she now has wet feet (gross!) She went and told someone and they went and shut and locked the door....with her clothes in there still. By the end I was not impressed. Service could have been better and they need more dressing rooms so that you don't have to share with strangers, and get wet socks from the bathroom floor. Needless to say what started out great went sour quick, and I did not buy my dress from there, and did truly find "the perfect dress" some place else. read more

Premiere Couture staff were very helpful with different visits to accomplish and some last minute ordering when out of state bridesmaids could no longer order from another store. I really loved shopping here. I have been to so many places that make you feel like it's a hassle for them to suggest a dress or help you get the dress fitting good. Not this place! They acted as though they loved helping you look at try on. They also seemed to really listen to what I was looking for. I know that the people who work here say to the customers that everyone women they work with is beautiful and it sounds corny but they REALLY mean it. They make you feel gorgeous in your own skin and I'm not sure how they do it but they do. This is the only wedding dress shopping experience I have had where I felt calm and happy. I didn't even buy a dress yet but I plan to continue to look at this store because of their attitude. I came here about a month ago with my mom who was looking for a chic yet affordable wedding dress. Even with their very limited selection of dresses she was able to find a few gems. They have a wonderful selection of sashes too. However, our sales consultant left us to help another customer look for dresses while my mom was in the dressing room waiting for her. We heard the manager instructing her to return to us. We wondered if this had anything to do with the fact that she was on commission and knew she wouldn't make as high of a return from us as she would with the younger customer... ? Nevertheless, when she returned she was very pleasant and attentive. She didn't provide my mom with any constructive criticism which would be very helpful for brides shopping without an entourage. With every dress she said it was beautiful even when there were obvious problems with it that couldn't be fixed by tailoring alone (silhouette vs. body shape, etc). Also keep in mind that they go in the dressing room with you and stand there while you strip down. It was very awkward for my mom, though she probably could have told her to leave. Anyhow, we ended up finding a more affordable dress with the perfect shape for her at Beautiful Brides (which also has a much larger selection of dresses). It's convenient if you're from the Madison area but I wouldn't recommend it if you're planning on traveling a long distance to come here. read more

Premiere Couture is a wonderful shopping experience for gowns, prom and homecoming. I have referred several brides to this boutique and most of them have found their perfect dress here. My daughter purchased her prom dress here with exceptional service and when we told them what we were looking for, they gave her options within her vision and also stretched her to try other options too. I have several of their ready-to-wear dresses in my wardrobe including a fantastic tulle skirt that I wear with my denim jacket for for dress up. Be sure to make an appointment so you get the full experience. Just dropping in is not enough. You want their personal service as part of your experience! read more

Apparently there is only one person who works here so if you aren't going in for a bridal appointment and you are just looking to buy bridal accessories, fat chance you'll ever get any help. They pay absolutely no attention unless you have an appointment but won't make an appt just for accessory shopping. Their prices are inflated and they have zero selection. The only reason I've tried to go back here is because there are only 2 other bridal shops in Madison and one is David's bridal. read more

Wonderful! My Dessy bridesmaids gowns were purchased from Premiere Couture. Laura is wonderful! I also tried on wedding gowns here and found two I loved, but ultimately went with a dress from a different shop that I loved as well. The newer location in Cambridge is great. My wedding was this past September and I began searching for my perfect dress in October 2011. I chose Premiere Couture because I didn't want to have a "big box" wedding dress for our special day. I was more than pleased with the selection, service, and the entire experience from the first day I tried on my dress to the final fitting. Laura, one of the owners, was excellent to work with. I had searched online by the designers they carried and discovered I loved Lea Ann Belter. Laura let me know when they were having a trunk show and I got to choose not only from the dresses in their store but also the entire Lea Ann Belter collection. Laura had dresses awaiting me in the dressing room, one of which became my dream dress. I returned later with more of my bridesmaids and we found the perfect dresses that complemented my dress perfectly. They were very comfortable, reasonable, and many of my bridesmaids commented that they would love to shorten them and keep as a future party dress. Finally, the big day arrived when I went for my first fitting. There is no worse feeling than when you go and your dress doesn't zip. Laura was amazing during this time! She stayed calm and immediately took action. She called the designer and the seamstress and actually went with me to the seamstress. She ended up talking again with the designer, sending my gown back, and having the bodice remade. The result? My second fitting was amazing! What could have been a catastrophic experience was avoided by the calm and professional demeanor of Laura. After one fitting with the seamstress recommended by Premiere Couture (very reasonable!) my dress was a perfect fit! With the addition of a beautiful crystal belt, my Lea Ann Belter gown was perfect in every way! After my wedding I contacted Laura about the best way to preserve my dress and she mailed me a kit to send to the company they recommend. Top notch service from the first step of shopping for a gown to preserving the memories for a lifetime. I would highly recommend Premiere Couture for the perfect wedding gown shopping experience! Their experience, expertise, and couture boutique atmosphere makes Premiere Couture the ideal wedding gown store.
