This salon is a clearance center for Vera's Bridal in Madison. My daughter and I visited earlier…read morethis summer in search of a gown for her October wedding. She was fortunate to find her dream gown: a $1300 gown for $299. Can't beat that! There were many gowns in good shape for great prices; my daughter's a size 12 so she had a fair number to choose from; I think she tried on at least 10. The consultant was very helpful but not at all pushy. The décor is plush 1970s (original) and quite comfortable, but for these prices I wouldn't care if it were in an outlet mall. Now, the downside. Naturally, when you buy a gown at a clearance center, it will likely need some alterations. The seamstress there said they would soon stop offering alterations on site but that I should call her in early September as she also works from home. So I called her right after Labor Day and she told me she was booked through October. Boo! However, she gave me the name of another seamstress in Janesville who turned out to be awesome working under time pressure. So the first seamstress redeemed herself a wee bit. One more thing: there were many, many bridesmaid dresses there at terrific prices, but the mother-of-the-bride section was almost non-existent. Bottom line: go here first just in case you luck out like my daughter did.

Look at paying anywhere between about $300-$900 on dresses that were from Vera's in Madison. These…read moreare all sample dresses that were tried on in the shop for a year or two. They have imperfections, tears, stains, etc. If you're crafty and ok with a fixer upper, this is a good place to go! I got some ideas on dress styles and will take those to Vera in Madison. There wasn't much traffic at this location, so we were helped right away. It is pretty far out, but it's nice for a fun little weekend pop-in, if you are in the area.

This experience was incredible and I cannot recommend this store enough. I worked with Mallory and even got to meet the owner, Maya. The service I received with Mallory (Mal) felt like a night and day difference when compared to the precious shop I went too. Mal listened to my concerns, my needs, and adjusted to find better selections when I wasn't even sure of what I wanted! I was torn between 2 dresses for different reasons. When I showed my concerns, Mal was able to talk me through my choices and helped me decide. Photo included is the dress I did not pick but hope someone else does!!! BOOK THE APPT, you WILL NOT REGRET IT!

My trip to Genevieve's was my first experience trying on dresses and I didn't appreciate just how good their service was at the time! Monika was very kind, thorough, discreet and knowledgeable. She helped me find the style that I was ultimately looking for (I had no idea what I was doing) and her selections were spot on. I chose to shop around for a few more weeks but eventually called back to order my dress! If you are early or late in your dress shopping - go to Genevieve's. They had a large selection of dresses that all felt like such great quality and the service was helpful without being obtrusive. Compared to other stores Genevieve's felt calmer and more professional. They set a very high standard that I couldn't find elsewhere. Their selection of dresses felt well maintained (some other dress shops had dresses that really needed to be retired) and classy (no buttons popping off and the dresses I tried on were are in the same size, 14, so I felt like I had a safe comparison across dresses). All of the dresses I tried on had corseting or boning to give the dress support without relying on shapewear. The price range quoted for the store was $2k-$7k but the dresses I selected were actually below $2k.

The store is really pretty, and we were warmly greeted when we checked in. Their dressing rooms are nice sized and feel really private. Lydia was our consultant and she couldn't have been better! She started by asking me to describe what I liked, and she was able to put that into bridal terms. She was patient with my family picking our different options and she brought me some fantastic picks (including the dress I ended up falling for!). She brought me dresses under my budget too, which I really appreciated. She wasn't pushy at all. Vera herself even came in to say hi and brought me an option! Lydia was sweet, fun to work with, and asked me the right questions when I was torn between two options. I didn't feel rushed and was able to take my time going back and forth between two dresses. Overall, I had a great experience at Vera's and would highly recommend it!

Vera's is such an iconic spot that I had fairly high expectations but looking back felt neutral about my visit there. The store itself was clean and appeared to have numerous dresses in stock and were a variety of styles. After checking in we were taken back to a ready room where my bridal party was able to comfortably fit. My consult was polite but I'm not sure she understood my style. It felt like each dress I tried on was a hard sales pitch as to why that dress was "the one" rather than allowing my feedback to guide the dress selections. Then when it came time to ordering the size of the dress, I was shocked to see how poorly measured I was and that the staff member did not answer my questions when I had hesitations about the size she had chosen. I left feeling meh and anxious about my dress and feeling more like I had been pressured into the purchase than I cared to feel. Which is not a fun feeling after spending a large amount of money. After purchasing the dress, the list of tailor recommendations were horrible and thankfully I found someone not on the list. Overall I'm not sure I would go back there again for my dress.
