Absolutely disgraceful that these people call themselves a landscaping business & even more frustrating that our HOA continues to contract them for both community landscaping maintenance & snow plowing. Time & time again we have watched this company deploy clearly extremely unqualified people who also have no regard for the quality of work they are producing or for the property of the owners in our community (ie. their cars)- consistently making an extreme mess throughout the community on their maintenance day, including blatantly leaf blowing everything insight onto all of our cars. This past weekend they were highly unprepared & once again unqualified for the task of snow removal. We saw the truck once on Monday (day after snow storm) to "plow" street, using that term very lightly because the job was absolutely terrible & made the street conditions worse- our cul de sac all had to shovel for many hours after they left just to make the street safe. They did not salt the road at all. Then we saw the truck again today, again plowed but NO SALT !? This is just absolutely ridiculous. We had plenty of warning for the storm & there was no preparation last week to pre treat our community roads, nor did they treat after to prevent any icing during these cold temperatures this week. Im scared to see how they handle the rest of our winter storms, especially with another one on the way next weekend. In future it would be better if the agent can't be applied as a precaution before the storm then it should be applied right after the plowing occurs- with the frigid temperatures we are experiencing nothing is melting or breaking down easily. I want to first off say this review is late in being posted, and that it only applies to the particular service we contracted them for. We had Premium Lawn and Landscape advise us and install a system to deal with a huge excess of water coming into our yard. They completed the digging etc. and it totally failed to address the problem we shared with them. Our backyard flooded again. The pump they said would resolve the problem could not come close to handling the amount of water we had (pictures of the water volume had been shared with them prior to their bid). Long story short we paid for another contractor to remove their work and resolve our flood water problem. (the cost to us in total was twice what we had originally been told by Premium Lawn and Landscape. I would not suggest using them for any drainage or excess water problems. read more

This business is great! They have taken care of my family for decades and have treated us professionally and kindly. The work they do is thorough, one of their employees even caught termites on my property which we were able to resolve before it ever became an issue. The entire process from the very start (initial consult with Laura Lagaly) to the final bag of mulch went smoothly -- as promised and as planned. Laura is very knowledgeable and a "straight shooter" with excellent communication. She is a true gem and a wonderful asset to this company. The crew (Marlon, Nelson, and Christian) worked tirelessly in some hot temps to complete this job on time. They are friendly, talented, cohesive, and take pride in their work. They are also great at communicating. The crew even spent some time talking with us about how to care for the new sod they had just installed. I was given this company's name and number by my realtor. We have water coming in to our basement and our Lawn needed to be fixed. Project manager came over and looked at everything, he promised me that by September he can get all the lawn presentable and looking nice. They did a good job on the water drainage. But the lawn is a whole different story. The areas of my concern are still looking bad and we have lots of clover and weed and bold spots. Project manager is aweful in communicating. Never returns phone calls and barely replies to emails. I paid for fixing the lawn, weed control, clover control, fungicide. None has worked. I have the same lawn and lost money . I complained to the project manager and asked him to put sod in the areas that are bald and he said if i pay for fall treament he will reseed those areas!!!! Obviously they are using poor quality seeds and he does not want to fix the issue. Also, they were mowing my lawn and they used the edger insead of the lawn mower, I couldn't communicate with them becasue they didn't understand a word of english. read more

I am making a complaint from a homeowner standpoint. The HOA has nothing to do with Premium coming onto private property. Further, they have no business cutting common areas and leaving debris on private property, which is owned by individual homeowners. This is another example of Premium not Listening. Premium came on private property with no permission. Another week, and they ignored me. I will be calling the Fairfax County Police if they ignore my private property signs. DON'T HIRE THEM! Hired them about a year and a half ago to maintain our lawn and to mow. They consistently performed sub par in everything they did. Our lawn looks worse now than it did when we hired them and it looked pretty decent when we turned it over. They bring weeds on dirty lawn mowers to your lawn to mention a few things. Their favorite customer is one who takes whatever they dish out and does not bother them. Communication to the account manager Mark also the owner, was awful. He promised me when he came out the moon including that he would communicate with us. He would rarely respond to our questions, maybe if it involved an addition al treatment or more money), he would not address issues we were having, even to verify the day of the week they were coming, as we needed to do sometimes. The customer does not matter to these people. Their mowing was hit or miss, they even tried to go over our pool and damaged part of the brick pillars attached to the gate. Had I not stopped him he would have taken down the brick pillars. You had to baby sit them for damage control. The other gate to access the back yard without any obstructions was just on the other side of the property clearly visible and had been used many times. That's how dense and not informed they are with the mowing crews. Don't bother to inform them. They don't care. The lawn applications were hit or miss and products sub par. I looked them up. If it rained and the spot treatments were washed out, they did not respond to that either. And they did not coordinated with the mowing crews for optimum results when applying products. For example, one would not seed, then come mow in short order. Guess where the seed flies. They are anything but "premium" needless to say. We did not get a contract renewal and when we inquired they ignored us sending us scrambling since the season has already begun. Only when we called the manager (probably the guy's wife) did they bother to tell us, too many issues. So they were not even going to bother to inform us. But why would we expect any more from these people? Don't waste your money on a company who gives the customer the worst treatment and does not care about the work they perform. Look at all the other reviews. A company should not fail (one star) consistently. That should tell you a lot. read more

Their quality has really gone downhill. I used to use them for mowing services and I would get deep ruts in my yard from them cutting when it rained. This went on for 2 years and just this year I finally stopped. I also had them do a retaining wall in the front however part of it fell over. I had them back out to repair it twice and it STILL hasn't been fixed. Mark (owner) said he'd come to look at it but he never did. I also had them plant some bushes which have died. Less than 6 months from the install and I need to replace everything they planted. I need to have work done in my backyard however I will NOT be calling them for an estimate. I hired Premium to pull out several existing bushes and a tree in my front yard and replace them with new low maintenance bushes and a couple of trees. I called Laura again to do some sod work in the front yard. I spent several thousand dollars on these projects. A few months later I noticed one of the bushes was dying and one of the trees was leaning. I called Laura because I wanted to have some trees/bushes trimmed and needed an estimate. I mentioned to her about the bush dying and the tree leaning since the contract stated their was a 1 year warranty. She seemed to be grasping for straws as she came up with reasons that the bush could possibly be dying. She asked if we had a dog that could have peed on the bush and I told her our dogs go in the backyard, she asked if we used Round Up and I told her no because we have dogs, then she asked how often we were watering the bushes and I told her about twice a week as per her instructions. Then she said we were overwatering it and those bushes don't need much water. I didn't buy that since all the other bushes were not dying and they were getting the same amount of water. Not to mention we were going through a drought this summer. She said the bush would have to be replaced because it would not come back and that the warranty wouldn't cover it. I mentioned that they planted the tree and it was leaning but she said it was growing towards the sun that's why it was leaning, but the other tree they planted wasn't leaning towards the sun so I don't buy that one either. She said she would give me an estimate to replace the bush and to stake the tree. If they had just honored their warranty and replaced the bush and taken a few minutes to stake the tree we would have been happy. Laura emailed me asking if I had reviewed her estimate for the additional tree trimming, to replace the bush and to stake the tree. I told her we were not going to go through with it because we were not happy with their response. Her reply to me was simply "thanks for letting me know". She never bothered to come out to look at the bush or the tree. For something that would have cost them less than $50 to remedy under their warranty, they have lost my business. read more

Really irritated at the way the crew left my property today - tire marks from mower give my driveway that 'under construction' look that I was absolutely not going for. In addition, a drainage cap that they installed a few months ago (which has done a pretty poor job of managing the excess water we get on our property to begin with) was damaged when i'm assuming, they drove over it. An absolute nightmare to deal with, their crew cut my AC refrigerant line (the one that goes to the outdoor condensing unit), 3 downspouts and 2 bricks with their weeder in June and 2 months (!!!) later they're still saying "they're too busy to come fix it". It's August!!! They won't return your calls, when you can get ahold of someone they give you the run around, I've used Premium for 10 years for mowing and leaves removal and this is what I get. When I finally told them I'd hire an AC company to come fix the issue after 2 months they cancelled my services in revenge. This is what you have can expect from this company. Having worked with Premium so smoothly last year, I didn't expect it to be so difficult this year. They came out for an estimate, which for less work than last year was the same amount, so I asked for a slight reduction, which took 3 weeks of hounding to get someone to reply to me. It also took hounding to get on the schedule. Before they left I caught they hadn't given my front holly bush a decent enough trim, which they somewhat corrected. Unfortunately I assumed when I said 'everything is weeds, rip it all out' they'd rip everything, however I was wrong. I sent a follow up email, but never heard back. I paid Premium Lawn to install a French pipe to fix my wet my yard. After one year, the yard has more water than before and I thought the pipe was clogged. I called them and emailed them, they did not care at all I used another contractor to find out what is going with the pipe. He found out that they never installed a French pipe, and they put only gravel without a pipe. I attached pictures that shows that no pipe was installed. I also attached a copy of invoice describe the pipe that never was installed. They took my money and committed a Fraud. If you don't want you to have similar issue, please use another company. I'm watching these guys removing a small dead tree and trimming lower branches of my neighbors pin oaks and they don't even have a chain saw. They're up on an A- frame ladder trying to cut the branches with an extended saw and then the guy is twisting and breaking the branches off by using his body weight and wrapping them around the tree trunk until they tear off leaving jagged limbs. Finally, one guy came and climbed up the tree and cut one of the bigger branches off. It seriously is the most unprofessional thing I've ever seen a landscaper doing. Oh and while they were working they thought it was a good idea to leave the truck on and blast music while they were working. I appreciated that while I was working from home. read more

These guys were AMAZING! The came out for an estimate and we quick and efficient about it. They communicated with us throughout every step of our rather extensive project. When designing the landscaping for our backyard, they gave some suggestions, but were happy to hear our input to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. I was happy with them before the work even started. But once they'd finished, oh man it looks awesome! They were also efficient with scheduling and completing all the work. The attention to detail was absolutely phenomenal. I appreciate that they understand that I am not a lawn care/landscaping professional and there's a lot that would never occur to me to ask for. Applied for a job with this company, and did an intial phone interview with Mark (who I believe to be the owner). I was told I wouls get an email later in the day about times the following week for an in person interview. 4 days go by and no word from them. I emailed, then called and left a message about the interviee with them, and now almost a week and a half later have not gotten any response. They ended up removing all the branches halfway up the tree instead. Also had a contract for yard work/pruning/mulch to be done annually. They never even showed up once. They just forgot.. Reading other YELP reviews I now see that I am not the first potential customer which this company has ignored. They must have just gotten too big to care about individual homeowner's business. In late October I reached out to Premium, and a few other lawn maintenance companies, to secure estimates for a comprehensive lawn and garden program for my 2/3 acre property. Other companies jumped at the opportunity; Premium didnt respond. Underdetered, I contacted them a second time and was scheduled for an estimate in mid November. Their "residential manager" appeared, we discussed a fairly comprehensive lawn and garden maintenance program, and he promised their proposal quickly. Well, no surprise, I heard nothing further from them, and they made absolutely not effort at follow-up. (I see below the company likes to suggest improper email addresses as an excuse; if you believe that I have some other bill of goods I want to sell you!) We worked with Matt on defining what landscaping we wanted done in the fall. Unfortunately, Matt had moved to Florida and Mark who happens to be the owner was assigned to oversee the work. The work was done yesterday and it was a disaster! The team was not clear what to do although Mark came in the morning to review the requirements with his team. Mark told the team not to leave us the split astilbe plants that are very expensive. I can only assume that Mark with sell them to another client. If you're thinking of using this company I would reconsider and find another landscaping firm. Maybe they can mow lawns but landscaping is not what you want them doing. read more

The wall has now collapsed. I've had other landscapers give me estimates to repair it and they all agree the wall was not constructed well. There is no water drainage built into the wall and in fact, there is a plastic liner that is keeping all the water in, which is what caused the wall to collapse. There is no sign of root intrusion by the tree or plantings. We were told inserts are designed to be used to hold the stones together, but instead, the stones were all glued together. This wall was beautiful when it was first built and should have lasted many years. The first repair was needed after only 11 months. I'm so disappointed and feel ripped off. read more

I bid six landscape bids due to a complicated project. There were only two qualified as the other four didn't submit a contract as it was beyond the scope of a single person small business. Premium Landscape won the bid, and quite satisfactorily fulfilled the itemized tasks of the contract. The other qualified firm wanted to charge almost four times more than Premium did. The quote at Premium Lawn was very reasonable and was pleased to see that they do outstanding work. I went over details with their account manager, on-site manager and lead foreman who worked diligently. They are all professional, took minimal time for lunch break, and finished our lawn in two days. They kept us informed regularly with only minimal questions. We were thoroughly impressed by the quality of services, workmanship and attention to detail. They rolled up their sleeves and got to digging quickly. I highly recommend Premium Lawn and Landscape for a complex bid as they will do a wonderful job along with receiving glowing compliments. After promising a free quote and arriving as scheduled, I had a pleasant conversation with Steve who made a complete backyard makeover seem doable. He told me it would take a few days for the concept designer to draw up some sketches. Then he went on vacation, which he didn't tell me about, and some three weeks later has failed to return any calls or messages I've left. I suspect Premium didn't see enough money in my project and that was it for me. I guess they are just ALWAYS "in a hurry" and forgot about mowing in some major areas which is CONSTANTLY their excuse. It only took them 3 weeks to come back to mow and do this and even put a sign up this time! WOW, they really have NO idea what they are doing and clearly do NOT care. According to them they are doing their job and honoring their contract commitments with this horrible mess. These people do NOT care who they are serving and have NO pride in the work they are hired to do. 8/23 A week later and still nothing has changed except our grass is at 2 feet high again. I spent roughly $4,000 with Premium Lawn and Landscape to dig up and completely replace our yard because they told me that the large trees in our yard had sucked the nutrients out of the ground over the 30 years we owned our home. The new grass came up OK but by summer the yard was literally just dirt with hardly a blade of grass to be seen. When I complained they said they would replant the grass one time only. They did replant but that lawn also died off completely in spite of having an underground watering system that watered as required. I would never use them again for a major project, but to be fair we have used their mowing service for years and it has been excellent. read more

Had to call them numerous times over the summer to inquire why the grass was so long if I had a contract with them to mow it. The answer - even when I spoke with the owner - was that they were scheduled to mow in the next few days. No apologies for poor service. Yet the grass was nearly a foot long... Reply to company response: I had already called your company 7 times regarding these ongoing service issues, even escalating to the owner. Requested a quote for replacing a tree, renovating beds and general maintenance. Was told I'd get a quote within two days. After two weeks and no quote, I called and was told they'd get back to me within two days. After a week and a half of not hearing from them, I called and was told not only would the manager know about this but that they'd call within two days. That was two weeks ago. No word. read more

They eventually came and replaced the dead sod with new rolls. However; the new roles of grass/sod do not match the others and now the rest of the lawn has died out even though we have followed ALL directions in terms of watering and care. I paid for a new lawn and in return we were given our old lawn. Already we have weeds and mushrooms growing from the new rolls and spots starting to show. read more
