8 month old sky pencil holly, $300 per plant
    Jennifer J.

The landscape designers are fantastic, the local nursery teams, outstanding and super helpful. The actual landscape teams and customer service not so much. Landscape customer service team is truly lacking, their manager tries to make things right but after a second and third chance we are done. It took 5 months of repeated calls snd emails to get someone to just acknowledge our plant warranty. Another month to get someone to coke to my home. While the overall planting done was great I am still wary of regrowth for perennial bulbs that have been dug out 3x now. Customer service reps are rude and unprofessional, shouting back and forth while on a live call. Telling me I should just go pick some new plants and install them myself at cost. UPDATE: June 2024 An extended warranty with substantial discounts exists so you would utilize if your plants die (which they will when planted in the dead of summer) to recoup some of your cost - some of mine did. I began emailing in March 2024 as instructed, email responses take days to receive, they lack basic information and ignore basic questions. I'm still battling to have plants reinstalled and even the managers don't respond. RUN, RUN FAST.

I've been a long-time Meadows Farms customer and have spent a lot of money at this plant nursery in both landscape installations and as a gardener who enjoys buying plants. My kids love going to the nursery and generally we have a wonderful experience with the staff (We love Ms. Jenn!) This review is related to the retail nursery and the constant issues I have with mislabeled pricing, specifically at the Nursery in Chantilly. Numerous times signage has labeled a plant as one price but I have been charged another, always higher price, when I check out at the register. A couple of days ago I purchased two anemones that were labeled at a price of $14.99, with an additional 20% to be taken off at the register because I am part of their VIP membership. Once at the register, the anemones ring up at $19.99, not $14.99 as labeled. Because I have had so many issues with MF and their mislabeled prices, I had a photo ready to show the cashier and assistant manager. I showed the assistant manager that the price advertised above the anemone as the "Meadows Farms Price" was indeed $14.99. After hearing the assistant manager rudely explain away that the price must've been a mistake when their team was printing prices in the computer (as if this is somehow my fault!) she reluctantly agreed to adjust the price. The assistant manager (Miss M.P) adjusted the price to $14.99 but refused to apply the VIP 20%. I was literally told by Miss M that "we", as in Meadows Farms, would be "getting gypped" if she applied the VIP savings (yes, she actually said and I quote "we would be getting gypped") because that price would be lower than the price coming up on the computer ($19.99 with additional 20%). Her tone related only her concern to not be the one getting "gypped" as if I was trying to pull something over on her, which I was not. I have been a loyal customer to MFN Miss M was not kind in her communication with me and certainly wasn't in a mood to satisfy the customer, so I didn't push the issue further with her (this whole issue was a difference of $6 bucks) Her cashier however, was quite polite and looked embarrassed by Miss M's handling of the situation. (The staff at the nursery has always been awesome. My issues in this review are related to the pricing inconsistencies and the assistant manager.) Clearly the assistant manager could use a basic lesson on business and the importance of customer service because she personally isn't the one losing out; the customer is losing out as well as the company! I shouldn't have to constantly quibble over prices because MFN can't properly label the prices of their plants to match what is in their computer database. Numerous times I have thought I am paying one price for a shrub or perennial only to find out that I have paid more than I should have according to what was advertised on signage in front of the plants! Just to provide one more example I was tempted to grab a Japanese Maple as these were advertised as 50% off in the "Yard Sale"savings event. I did not buy one though because the plants had "VIP Savings" tags labled on them showing they were 20% off. Here again would be another issue of quibbling over the price...the customer communications say the trees are 50% off but the tag at the nursery hanging on the tree says 20%. I wasn't willing to drag a tree to the register only to be told I wasn't going to get the advertised 50% off. Well the real loser in all of this is Meadows Farms because after this interaction I don't really feel comfortable returning or using them again for landscaping services. It's too frustrating to have to constantly wonder whether the price I see advertised in front of the plant is truly the price or if I will be charged a higher price at checkout. I try to support family owned businesses but when I can't trust pricing and the company doesn't honor advertised pricing, I probably need to take my business elsewhere. I can't risk getting "gypped", right?

Recently replaced holly on left, vs. one replaced six months ago middle vs. original install spring 2022.
    Tyler W.

I've had a couple of issues with Meadows Farms since my landscaping project in the Spring of 2022. I've had a couple of plants die, but I won't entirely blame Meadows Farms because there are so many factors that could contribute to a plant not surviving... although I do think Meadow's plant quality is suspect. Anyway, each time I had an inkberry holly replaced, which has been in two separate instances, the plants have all looked different. The most recent replacement was laughably smaller than the plants just planted a year ago. When I called customer service about the plant sizing and differing quality, they just say this is what they have and if I don't like it I can wait until the Spring and go visit their store... I get it, but the customer service isn't great. Next, every time I call customer service they just answer and say please hold... and 50/50 if they ever pick back up and if they do the cheeriness of the person on the other end of the line is grim. When scheduling calls to set up a re-planting, they give me a date and time and say that's all they have, but I can go back in the queue to be scheduled again... which could take weeks? Odd system and poor customer service. 1.5 years after the install, I have inkberry hollys that haven't grown much and iteas that are gigantic, creating a pretty ugly design in front of my house. Feels like a better landscaper would have foreseen that issue and picked different plants. I'll probably have to rip out the iteas on my own and come up with a better plan and buy better plants from GreenWorks. Ultimately, it's my bad for picking Meadows Farms. They were the cheapest option and you get what you pay for. Only reason this isn't one star is because of the price... and the install / design guy was nice.

Meadow Farms did an amazing job for us! Our side yard was overgrown and needed an complete redesign, and we are so happy we choose Meadow Farms to design and complete our project! Our designer Carolyn worked with us and created a good plan. She explained the process and answered all our questions. She also recommended Mike Ezzo at Cavalier Tree Services to remove all the our trees, etc. Mike and his team did a great job clearing the property for us. Meadow Farms worked with us on the schedule and arrived on time today. The team did a great job with the detailed layout, and installed our 12 trees quickly and with perfect placement. We are very happy we choose Meadow Farms Landscaping!!

Thanks to Mr. Meadows and Sanford, my project turned out even better than imagined. Meadow Farms made everything right and kept all promised.

SPAMMERS. I live thousands of miles away from them, but I still get many emails per week. I NEVER subscribed. They have no proof of my subscribing. (why would I?) I've unsubscribed. I marked it as spam. I screen captured video recorded me unsubscribing and sent that to him. I've contacted Jay M @ jmeadows@meadowsfarms.com dozens of times BEGGING for him to unsubscribe me, he will not. He will not reply anymore. Why would you do business with someone that just likes to spam you? What kind of malicious intent is that? They WILL NOT STOP!

I remain dissatisfied with Meadows Farms. I had 4 fruit trees purchased, delivered and installed by Meadows in June of 2019. 3 of the trees are doing great, not much fruit yet, but they're getting there. My peach tree however is a goner. No leaves. No fruit. No life. Completely gray. Emailed Meadows as they supposedly stand by their trees only for them to first deny that the trees were theirs, then say the warranty is only for a year. A decent organization would have realized that in June 2020 we were in the throes of a global pandemic and people weren't worried about fruit trees! The tree was in fact dead last year, but again we were in lockdown at the time. Very frustrating!!

I guess, mostly by habit, if I needed plants or flowers, I would drive a few more minutes up the road to the Home Depot, since I always thought HD was cheaper. I purchased my usual assortment from Home Depot of herbs (basil, cilantro, etc.) as well as a few tomato varietals in mid-March 2023, however, by late April most of the plants were dead. Granted, it was a colder than usual Spring season, but these plants should've been hearty enough to withstand a bit of frost. As I have a penchant for supporting small businesses, I decided to finally pop in the Miracle Garden Center, and departed asking myself, "what took me so long to check this place out?" Located off of busy Rt. 236 (Little River Turnpike), it is easy to miss this mom and pop business. Look for a white 1-story structure with the "Miracle Garden Center" signs affixed to the building. There are a few parking spots in front and around the side for easy access. Upon passing through the gates, I was struck by the sheer variety of vegetation ranging from indoor/outdoor flowers, mini-trees, and of course, plants for your garden. I picked up a few pepper varieties since I always love fresh chilis and got a fantastic price on some habanero, serrano, and Hungarian wax peppers. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have any Thai Chili plants, but the gentleman watering the plants indicated that their supplier didn't carry it this season. I also picked up a few tomato varietals such as Roma, cherry, and a Sungold. Of note, the Italian Basil, sweet mint, and Cilantro that I purchased a few weeks ago have also flourished in my garden since I planted them in late mid-May. No knock against them, but unlike my experiences asking questions of the staff at HD about frequency of watering, recommended amount of sunlight exposure, etc, the team at Miracle Garden are friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to share their their wealth of information. Now that I'm headed back into my office more often, I even picked up a snake plant for my desk, since this is a very "low maintenance" plant which is not only super easy to care for, but has numerous benefits (https://www.healthline.com/health/benefits-of-snake-plant#benefits) including air filtration and oxygenation. Chatting with the staff, I understand they also carry seasonal items such as pumpkins in the Fall and Christmas trees during the winter. Miracle Garden Center is just the type of local business I love to support and recommend to the Yelp community.
