Very disappointed in Burke lawn care service. Been using them for two years and both years my graaa dies. $2000 a year. Not worth it.

We use Burke Lawn Care and Bee Kind Mosquito Control for our yard. We have used them for years! We used to have our lawn-cutting service do the seeding and fertilizing and by August every year, it was dead. We got quotes from all of the local services when we decided to look elsewhere and chose Burke Lawn Care for their services and value. The owner, Eric, is kind, knowledgeable, and professional...I don't know how they do it, but it's October and my lawn has never been thicker and prettier. Highly recommend! read more

Run Run as fast as you can. The owner is a very nice guy until he's not. The staff burnt up my yard with too much fungacide. I mentioned that on nextdoor and he closed my account. Said he didnt authorize me to add grass seed like he owned us. For 2 years now I asked about the thatch that was dead grass from their services and he said the new grass would push it up. Every landscaper I talked thats not true. Just throwing seed on dead grass and not growing anymore. A lot of money wasted. They NEVER mentioned this. Liquid areation grew us no new grass. They were happy to collect. read more

When questioned on what they used that killed baby grass in my yard, the owner just cancelled my account, no explanation, nothing. No offer to fix it, even if they charged me... nothing. 4+ years, yard all isn't much better than before I started using them. They're expensive and unprofessional. read more

I have had Burke Lawn Care for many years after numerous other Lawn companies. Eric Schmidt and his team are awesome. My lawn is so lush and green usually the nicest on my street. Anytime I have a question or issue they are always quick to respond and Eric will stop by personally to take a look. They always email me ahead of their visit which I appreciate since I have a large dog. Very satisfied and reasonably priced. read more

We had them come out this past year and the spraying did the job. Killed the weeds and the liquid aeration was great. They respond quickly and are very helpful if you need extra help. Several homes in our neighborhood use their services and it's been very good. read more

My lawn was "unattended" this year (to be polite) and became riddled with more weeds than grass. Eric Schmid had his work crew aerate the lawn, apply seed and two months later, it rivals an Augusta fairway! They got our lawn looking a little better after a year of service, but quite honestly, for the money we were spending I expected better. They could never seem to get to the bottom of the nutsedge issue I was having and offered very little solutions to my concerns with certain weeds that kept coming back each season. Twice I asked that the owner come knock on the door when he came by to look at the lawn and twice I was ignored. Most of the time he would tell me the browning of the lawn was from dog pee when our dogs never use the back yard. He also recommended a shyster landscaper to lay sod in our backyard and the guy used stuff that had plastic netting under it which the office at Burke told me that they would never be able to core aerate after that. The sod was also loaded with weeds and they casually told me this was very common. Awesome..... We saw guys coming by twice a month spraying the lawn (at 80 dollars a visit) and all I was seeing was more dead/ brown patches on the lawn. The guys were walking past them every time they sprayed and not once did I ever get an analysis or opinion on what was going wrong. I also had to call for re-applications because the techs kept missing entire areas of crabgrass and nutsedge. And once, I saw a newer crew just do a few quick passes over the lawn while they were on their phones. The last straw was when an entire section of lawn near our curb that I reseeded and cared for all summer long seemed to be burned out from what I honestly think was over treatment as they were trying to eradicate the nutsedge from our grass. I called the office, spoke to Jennifer and she said Eric would come by. Again, I asked for him to knock when he got here because I wanted to have a discussion with him and immediately before he even asked me what the problem was he started talking about some kind of worms. We walked around the yard, he told me that the entire length of my sidewalk strip was dead because of dog pee which is absolute nonsense. The entire twenty feet of grass is dead. Then he told me these strips are hard to maintain. Then I walked him around the front where there were obvious dead patches of grass and he said it was just something that happened this time of year. no offer to do soil testing, or asking me how oftened I watered.....just a shrug. Meanwhile it didn't look that way last year and my neighbors lawns look great.....even the ones who do nothing to their lawns at all. When I asked him why he said it was because they had all weeds. (Well then maybe that's what I am doing wrong). I got upset and he just kept trying to tell me my lawn looked great, which it clearly doesn't. He suggested reseeding which is just annoying because I spent the last year reseeding myself and had a nice looking grass strip that they failed to maintain properly. When I gave him pushback and walked away he audibly sighed, "Jesus!" and went back to his car. Nice service. The guy couldn't deal with me getting upset and he had no answers. He's got a lot of nerve acting like that considering I paid him on time every time for the last year and he thinks he doesn't owe it to me to figure out what's going wrong with our lawn. Too bad if I got upset. He's got no business getting pissed off with me. I'm pissed off at HIM! We were at this point a year ago and I considered to stop using them and Jennifer got it straightened out. You would think after that Eric would have paid us a little more mind. My husband was home when this was going on and immediately after Eric's visit we went over our bills from them and realized that on top of everything, this is just costing us too much money. It was close to a thousand dollars a year, which is ridiculous considering what the lawn looks like. We could do at least as good of a job ourselves for a quarter of the price. As it is, I spent countless hours hand pulling Poa Annua and crabgrass out of the lawn myself, and every discussion I have with Jennifer at the office usually ends with her telling me why Eric thinks it's something that can't be done, or why my suggested solution isn't a good one. I know I'm not the lawn expert, but seriously, at this point I think I'm better off going it alone. They don't seem to be worried about the things I'm worried about and it's their job to be doing the worrying. I feel like I'm working too hard to be spending all this money. It's a shame because his staff is generally nice and I felt like there was good communication most of the time, but honestly, Eric is the cog in the machine. I was trusting him to keep an eye on how our lawn was doing along the way and he just let us down. read more

Burke Lawn Care handled my lawn for one season. 3 years of travel, neglect, and 2 new dogs had done their damage. BLC came to us thru several referrals, so were happy to bring them on. Over the course of the season and mulitiple visits by team members, I kinda expected to get some advice/additional suggestions about repair/recovery on this lawn- but nothing. No biggie, I'll just call and get the ball rolling... so I did. Eric (Owner) came out. Like I said, the lawn is in terrible shape, so we had plenty to discuss. He had no 'Big' answers or suggestions, but the standard 'overseeding' came up... I agreed. Let's overseed, and if you have any other suggestions please add on! Over a month had passed, and I saw their 'treatment in place' sign on my lawn... but no seeding. No calls. No info. I called in to discuss my PREVIOUS discussion with Eric, and whoever answered the phone was clearly prepared to pitch me on the standard lawn care practice and what was happening- I was a bit curt and cut her off, explaining I was a current customer AND had spoken with the owner on-site over a month prior but had not seen any of the things we agreed to. She kindly said she'd look into it and call back. Which she did a day later. She said that they had emailed me about aeration and treatments but did not hear back, so they moved on with pre-emergent/etc. Which of course kills off the 'seeding' option. She was a bit defensive (understandable given my short tone the day before) and said she had copies of the emails in hand, it was on me, etc... Why? I had already agreed with the Owner about the next steps. We had never communicated by email previously, I found the emails in 'junk'. No phone call? Not simply just DO THE WORK we agreed on? Anyway: The website does some big talkin' about communication and good-old-fashioned customer service, 'down-home style'... They pulled a boner, here, and the response was to throw it back at me. Unfortunate. This little comms error is costing me an entire season of repair time, and the response was: "you ignored our email so we just ignored your requests/planned work! We'll be happy to start again in the fall..." No thanks. Gotta look elsewhere now for a reliable and local lawncare company. read more

If I could give no stars I would! So frustrated with this company. I was doing a lawn renovation and they backed out in the middle of it and said the job was too much for them. They killed off my entire lawn and tried to do the job half assed, I am sure hoping that I was ignorant enough to not know know the difference. They even had the balls to say we can just call it even with what you paid us even though they did not provide me with all of the contracted services. I am so sick of people trying to take advantage of other people. It's horrible, I strongly urge and advise you not to use this company you will not be happy with the results. They totally left me hanging and to add I am 38 weeks pregnant and dealing with this. They truly don't care. read more

Burke lawn care's bee kind mosquito spray is awesome. I was worried about my dog and son being outside after spraying for those annoying blood suckers and they totally saved me! Not only do the other chemical sprays not work, they are horrible for the environment and my family. Not to mention that they sprayed and a surprise storm came through and THEY called ME to schedule coming out again. Awesome customer service. Very happy with their work! read more

After doing a LOT of research on all local lawn care companies and then reading all the fabulous reviews on Burke Lawn Care, I decided to give them a try... so glad I did!! The owner, Eric Schmid, was great to work with. I had heard horror stories about lawn care companies that tried to upsale you on their services and was very happy to find that was not the case with Eric. He told me what i needed, it made sense, the cost was reasonable and within 3 applications, my yard looks already amazing! All the weeds are gone and gorgeous, lush green grass is growing in it's place. I tried every "do it yourself" fertilizer before and just never got any results. Hey Don't Matter...we got service around the same time. I wish I had read your review first. I hate writing reviews, especially negative, but I hate being mislead and spending my hard earned money for something I could have done myself (especially with the overall results). My contract stated I was getting a years service (the box was checked) and Eric said "sorry...only for the last 3 months of 16. And then he admitted he should have written this on the contract. I see there are good reviews and bad so I guess I am one of the unlucky ones. read more

After having no luck with TruGreen fixing various lawn problems I experienced, I started looking for other lawn services. Luckily, I contacted Burke Lawn Care and talked to Eric, who was able to quickly diagnose the issues and recommend the best plan to fix the problems. In addition to providing excellent overall service, Burke Lawn Care responds quickly if any unforeseen problems occur; for example, due to weather conditions that occurred this spring I had an outbreak of a fungus disease that devastated part of my lawn. Eric personally came to look things over, and had his crew take the necessary steps to alleviate the problem. After taking the necessary steps to stop the fungus problem, my lawn looked fantastic and I continually received rave reviews from my neighbors. read more
