My hair was reeeaally long--so long that when straightened, I sometimes accidentally sat on it! I was looking to donate my hair, but was really nervous about cutting it so short. I'm a plus size girl, so I wasn't sure if short hair would look right with my round face. I was also hesitant to try this place given that there were no pictures or reviews on Yelp. Anyway, I just decided to go for it. Maria (I think that was her name) cut my hair (I believe it was a total of about 15 inches or so) and it came out great! I loved the length and the style! I felt completely relieved and glad that I decided to give this place a chance AND cut my hair so much shorter than what I'm used to! The second time I came (yesterday), I wanted a trim and color. I wanted my hair about the same length as I got before. I didn't realize how long it had been and how long my hair had actually gotten since the last time! The lady who did my hair this time was Carmen. I think she ended up trimming about 4 inches or so. Honestly, I think it's shorter than it was the first time, but that's pretty much what I had asked for and it still came out awesome! The part I was nervous about was the dye. I have been trying FOREVER to get my hair a deep purple color that is noticeable, but not too out there. I've been wanting it like this for YEARS!! I tried getting it professionally done (came out a bright red color) and once at home (came out a little more pinkish and washed out within a week because my hair is dark). I've been hesitant about going to another salon mostly because it gets so dang expensive and I'm ballin on a budget here lol. Anyway, after reaching out to a few salons, I just decided to go back here and try it. Basically take a chance again and hope for the best. Well, the best is what I got! The color came out exactly how I wanted it and she didn't even have to bleach my hair! Now, I realize it's not going to stay exactly like this after I wash it a couple times, but so far I am very pleased! In addition, the price was reasonable--$110 for a cut, color, and style. Aside from the quality of the work itself, the service was great! As soon as I walked in Maria acknowledged me (she was doing highlights on another woman) and even came over to me to assess my hair when she wasn't busy with the other woman. She's so down to earth and made me feel comfortable. She even remembered me when I mentioned the last time I came. The only thing that unsettled me when I first walked in was that it seemed like she might have forgotten about my appointment, but she called in Carmen and I only waited about 5 minutes or so before she sat me down. Now I don't know about you, but I like to have a conversation while I'm getting a service, mostly because silence makes me feel awkward in those types of situations, and Carmen was nice to talk to. Again, down to earth, like a human being and not just someone doing your hair. Even while my dye was in and I was waiting, Maria asked me a question (who sings "Despacito") and it felt more like an exchange with a family member than one with a stranger lol. Just another little thing that made me feel comfortable. Even the other woman getting highlights was nice! She was talking to Maria in Spanish (I don't speak Spanish, but I can understand a little) and commented that my hair color came out nice. :) Honestly, her highlights came out really nice too, but I was too shy to say anything to her about it lol. Anyway, it can be difficult to find a hair salon with people that you can trust not you mess you up, but I am definitely going to continue coming here, and might even start bringing my son for his haircuts too. "So. Cal Cuts" is the way to go!!!…read more I have been getting my hair cuts here for many years. Be sure to call ahead and schedule an appointment, he gets booked up. "So. Cal Cuts" is in high demand. So. Cal Cuts is well known in the Temecula Valley and throughout So. Cal. You may be surprised at who comes walking out of the shop as you walk in. Man.... This guy has motocross clients, public figures and celebrities (singers, rappers and actors) as clients. I like that he remembers his clients and their desired cuts. He is a very good conversationalist. This guy can remember your last conversation and pick up from where you left off, during the last cut. Sometimes, I am in a hurry, so I let him know and he gets me in and out quick. Sometimes, I just want to relax, so I request a wash and style with my standard cut. Either way, the quality of the cut doesn't change. The fades are bad ass!!! I like a zero high fade (skin) and he always comes through. I have never been disappointed with my cut. The prices are on point. So. Cal Cuts has a compressor in the shop and always gets the hair off of you, in case you have to be somewhere immediately after your cut. The shop is always neat and clean. The shop is in a commercial area, so the parking lot is private and not in a crowded shopping center. There are other businesses attached to the large commercial building, but there is really no foot traffic. Side note: What is crazy, is that there is an auto detail shop in the building. I have had my car washed while I get my hair styled. They also do details and wraps. This is very convenient to get two things marked off my task list at once. Stop by "So.
