Dr. Hefner is a one of a kind veterinarian. The first time my little dog buddy saw him was in March 2019 when he was not feeling well, he had a stomach thing going on. I was so worried I cut my trip short from Key West to come home and Dr. Hefner saw him late that night. He was very sweet with my Buddy. I didn't feel like I was rushed despite me asking the same questions over and over again lol. There was another time I was worried about my skin condition and Dr. Hefner made it himself available to meet him to see Buddy. He is on the pricier side, but when I have the money I would wouldn't go anywhere else. I trust Dr. Hefner. I don't think he's out there to try to run all these extra test just to make an extra dollar. We liked him so much that my little dog dressed up as Dr Hefner one Halloween. We came back from a vacation to find out male thirteen year old German Shepherd was not doing well. He was a big guy and couldn't stand up, so getting him to a Vet was going to be extremely difficult. We came across Premium Vet Care while searching for a mobile vet in the area, and we were so glad we did. Dr. Hefter and his staff were beyond amazing. They came to the house and did everything they could for our boy. Dr. Hefter took his time, was caring, and compassionate. They were always available via phone and called to check on our dog. Unfortunately our boy passed away on his own. I would highly recommend Dr. Hefter and his staff to anyone in the future. They were great! read more

Called this place around 9am, told them it was an urgent call for my pet dog and they told me i should receive a call back from someone about the "pricing". My concern wasn't about the price, my main concern was about the dog but I've been waiting and waiting for their call back right away or at least an hour or two but nope only got one back after 6-7 hours. So this is going to be a very hard review to write however this company needs to be reviewed. My sweet Zoe developed kidney failure in less than 10 days. She became a bag of bones in those 10 days. She refused to eat anything including bacon! I finally knew it was time for her to leave me and go to heaven. I called my Vet and they are no longer in business. Now I start calling any Vet that's open. They all say the same thing. Which is we will come out to your car to get her but you can not come in. I was like heck no! A person Zoe has never seen and a place she has never been no way! I found a number for a mobile vet and gave them a call. They have several locations (I used the Plantation location) I asked some questions and it was arranged that the doctor would come to my house in less than 2 hours. We waited and I held Zoe. I didn't want her to go my heart was breaking. The Vet arrived checked her over and said I was making the right decision. He was very kind and explained every step to me. I was blessed that my sweet girl got to die in my arms and not in a scary place where she knows no one. As sad as I am I am extremely grateful for Premium Vet Care (mobile Veterinary hospital) I definitely highly recommend this company they come to you which is so much nicer for your pet. I never leave reviews but it took me a long time to find a vet that I was comfortable sending my 14yo chihuahua to who is experiencing a slew of new issues as of late so I have to pass on this glowing recommendation for Dr. Hefter. He saw my 14yo Chihuahua Sophia who is having a lot of new issues coming into this next turn of life, and he helped build a comprehensive plan that I was comfortable with, and we made a smart path forward for her future needs. Last week one of my kitty's started urinating blood. My regular mobile vet had no availability until the next week and I didn't want her to be in pain. I searched all over for emergency mobile vets and could not find one near me. I took a chance at calling Premium Vet Care late Thursday and in less then 24 hours Dr. Hefter came with his Vet Asst. I was so impressed with them and wanted to share my experience. From the moment we met, I felt at ease; I was a wreck all day worrying about my Lucky. When they got to my home they explained what they were going to be doing. They were so gentle with her; she's blind! They even set up in my closet where she was hiding and did her blood work and urine test there. They then took her to their van to do her X-rays. The antibiotics worked within hours and Dr. Hefter answered all my questions and offered to answer any additional questions via text. I can only imagine how busy his practice is, and to be this responsive is unheard of and so much appreciated. My kitties are my babies and I will do everything I can to keep them healthy and safe. It's never easy saying goodbye to your fur baby, let alone being in a situation where we are asked to help them transition over the rainbow. My husband and I found ourselves in that exact situation with our 15 year old Labrador, Cody. He was family, our bestest friend and our baby so when he started showing signs of discomfort (after many months of trying to keep him comfortable) he gave us the look to let us know it was time. We were in a panic calling Dr. Hefter throughout all hours of the night seeking advice. We didn't know if this was truly his time or if there was room to save him. Dr. Hefter was patient and he was compassionate. He answered all our calls and texts and gave the best advice he could via a phone call. He explained his services but never pushed for us to make a decision. Instead, he was available. Available by holding a space for us to rummage through all the questions, doubts and disbeliefs-all awhile being honest and kind. By morning Cody had reached a point of no return and we knew it was time. Dr. Hefter arrived very professionally with a heavy and soft heart knowing too this was the best choice to relieve our fur baby from suffering. He walked us through the steps, reassured us we were making the right decision (always helpful!), and made a terrible moment in our lives a little more bearable. He gave us all the time to spend with Cody while keeping him comfortable along the way. When the moment came for us to say our final goodbye, Dr. Hefter administered the dose to end our pups pain once and for all. I hope no one is ever in this same situation, but even typing those words I know others will be asked to make that dreadful decision. Please work with Dr. Hefter. You won't regret it! He has a beautiful heart and a love for animals only pet owners could understand. He arrives to your front door allowing your animal to remain in a space they are comfortable in instead of a scary clinic. He understands that emergency vet care is expensive and will do his best to mitigate the costs for you. He came to my home in the middle of the night to see my cat who'd been attacked by my neighbor's dog. He took excellent care of him for us. Having a mobile unit that was able to come to our house was so fantastic because it was late at night and my husband was out and I was home alone with our kids and did not have the wherewithal to try and get the cat and the kids to one of those 24 hour clinics and I really didn't want to wait to get the cat seen. Who knows if the care from these people is any good because they never bothered to respond. We called at 2pm in the afternoon sharing that our cat was very sick, lethargic, and not eating or drinking. We were worried he was in renal failure and we feared we might be looking at euthanasia of our fur baby. The woman we reached assured us that a vet would be calling us back within 45 minutes to an hour at the most. It's now been almost 6 hours and no one has bothered to call us. Premium Vet Care says they are an emergency and urgent care outfit. Maybe their definition and mine differ about what is urgent or emergency, but 6+ hours is absurd. Their website is lovely and suggests they are there for you, 6 hours later we are wondering where they are for us. I would NOT recommend this company if you have an urgent or emergency situation, they definitely have not responded to ours. read more

Dr. Hefter is an absolute gem of a vet! I'm so thankful we found him to perform Oscar's surgery. Our 13yr Saint Bernard mix was diagnosed with bone cancer and we were advised by two oncologist that amputation was the correct first step of treatment to fight this terrible disease. After calling numerous places I finally talked with Dr. Hefter. He not only cares deeply for the pets in his charge but also keeps unnecessary and pointless costs out of the picture which made the surgery affordable for us. Oscar's surgery went better than I could have hoped for. Dr. Hefter did an amazing job, we've even received comments on how great Oscar's amputation site looks from others that have been through the same thing. It took me a long time to write but I needed to share that I had a amazing experience with Dr. Hefter back in June, 2021. Our 9 year old terrier mix had been going down hill but we thought we had a longer time with him. He went downhill fast one night and was in too much pain to bring to a local emergency veterinarian. I did a Google search for Veterinarians that did house calls and found Premium Vet Care. They originally told me they only did home care in Broward and I am located in Miami Beach. I think when they heard how upset I was they agreed to drive from Plantation to Miami Beach on a Friday night. Dr. Hefter had to put our Bo to sleep and I was able to hold our pup him while he was injected. Dr. Hefter explained each step of the process and then carefully wrapped Bo in a sweet blanket and we carried him down to his car. A couple months later a very sweet man delivered Bo's ashes in a beautiful wood urn along with a note, a rose and a imprint of his paw print. I will never be able to thank them enough. read more

Dr. Hefter is one of a kind. Our beautiful Storm was having some usual symptoms. The mobile vet arrived as schedule. Dr. Hefter was through with his explanations of her symptoms and recommendations for treatment. We knew our Storm had only a few shorts weeks left. I texted my questions over the next couple weeks and received answers to each one. The Doctors recommendations made her last days comfortable. We knew it was time and called the Doctor. He was on the way in minutes. His compassion, kindness and empathy made this very difficult time a little easier. Not only is Dr. Hefter a very knowledgeable and skilled vet, he is a wonderful, kind and compassionate person. We were most fortunate to have met Dr. Hefter about a year ago when our beloved 13 year old Shitzu experienced respiratory distress late one Saturday night. He arrived at our house within 30 minutes, examined, diagnosed, and quickly provided treatment and prescribed medication. He stayed with us over 2 hours, And did not leave until he was certain that she was on her way to recovery. He provided invaluable guidance throughout the roller coaster year that followed. Sadly, this past weekend, she passed away and Dr Hefter was here, by our side,as we made a most difficult decision, and ultimately said goodbye to our sweet girl. This day was one of the hardest things we have to do when putting down our fur baby. But Dr Hefter made it so much easier to get through this heart breaking procedure. He answered all my messages through the evening and made our appt. in the morning. he called and let us know he was on way. Our kids were with us in the comfort of our own home. He came in and sat out back with us and he genuinely felt our emotions with tears of his own. It was then I felt at ease. He then explained step by step and let us all sit right by her and was patient with our other dog. He was kind and compassionate while being extremely professional at all times. When he and my husband carried the little stretcher out to his vehicle he let us kiss her one last time. And when my husband went to shake his hand he hugged my husband. And then hugged me. Dr. Hefter and his nice assistant Taylor came for an emergency with our four dogs to our house even late on a Saturday night and he took his time for each of our dogs without any stress. Overbooked assembly line in a hot parking lot to spay/neuter. E-mail instructions stated "Drop off will be PROMPTLY at 3:00pm. Surgery will take roughly 1-2 hours, so please stay nearby. We will call you 45 minutes before your pet is ready to be picked up. If you come after those 45 minutes you will be charged $50 for every 30 minutes you are late". A group of pet owners gathered at 3 and left our pets. At 5 pm, we called and were VERY RUDELY told that surgery hasn't begun yet and to wait for the phone call. Around 6 pm, drove to the parking lot anyway to see the other pet owners also waiting. Apparently some woman with multiple strays in pet traps came by and the strays were taken care of first. Meanwhile, the pet owner's cats and dogs kept on fasting since midnight (17+ hours of fasting!) Eventually, pets were coming out, but the assistants could not give us any status on our kitten. So, at 7 pm we started driving back and EXACTLY 7 minutes later, called to pick up our pet. When I asked for Rabies paperwork, assistant realized they forgot to give the shot and took the cat back in the van. No rabies paperwork - "it's in the mail". NO REGISTRATION OR TAGS although included in voucher. No follow-up information available except that "she'll be fine". Never met the vet, just an array of young female assistants who did not have updates and kept on apologizing. Looked up the vet's credentials, he's NOT board certified. read more

I'd like to take a moment to talk about this wonderful veterinarian. My old girl was coming near the end of her life and someone recommended this MOBILE veterinarian to come check her out and see what our options were as her quality of life was not so great these days. Dr. Hefter was all set to come see us when sadly, and suddenly, my girl decided to cross the rainbow bridge on her own terms. I was very upset; I texted the doctor and he came right over, then took her to be cremated. He'll be back to check out my other dog for a regular vet visit and to talk about allergy and itch relief. I had a SNIP voucher to get my dog neutered. After looking up participating Veterinary Hospitals I called Premium Vet Care because it was located near my house. I made an appointment to get my dog neutered the following Saturday at 10:30 am. I was sent an email shortly after telling me everything I needed to know for the day of. In the email it stated that I would have to leave a $100 deposit and that I would be charged $50 for every 15 minutes I was late to pick up my dog. Although I thought this was a little weird that they were so specific about the charges I went with it. One of the things mentioned in the email was that my dog needed to fast starting at midnight the night before. I was staying at my parents house and my mom accidentally fed him in the morning. By the time I realized this it was almost 10 am. I called the vet to let him know what happened. I was very apologetic. He told me that the surgery could not be performed (which I totally understood). I told him I felt really bad, to which he said "If I had your credit card I would be charging you $140". Once again I understood and told him I greatly apologized for the inconvenience. He responded by saying, "You cancelled the day of, you took someone else's spot, and you just greatly hurt the community." He then proceeded to hang up on me. I hung up the phone shocked that he would say that to me. It was a legitimate mistake and the vet was extremely inappropriate and unprofessional. At that point I knew there was no way I would reschedule with Premium Vet Care. I got my dog neutered elsewhere. The new vet that I chose did not require a deposit and did not demand that I pick my dog up within 30 minutes of him being neutered like Premium Vet Care. They also did not threaten to charge me if I was late. Most importantly, they were friendly and did not make inappropriate comments to me. I I highly recommend that you do not use Premium Vet Care. The vet is rude and unprofessional. I shudder to think how he would have treated me dog. read more
