    Ham sandwich

Living right by this place, it's become my favourite spot to start my day. Nice decor with fresh flowers on the tables. If you ever go for their ham sandwich, be mindful of their spices Dijon mustard - put my mouth on fire!! Also the sandwich is definitely to share or you'll have two meals. My favourites are their jambon brioche and Danish raisin pastry. Great service too!!!

This is a really nice location. Their store is bigger than I expected and for covid reasons they have set up a way of circulating throughout the store that brings you through all their products. You pass by the virnnoiserie section, then the pastries and then ready to eat, coffee, wines and canned products. We decided to try their brioche brownies, cannelé, almond apple brioche and 3 little cakes. Everything was good , it just wasn't great. The brioche had almost no brownie inside and the little cakes lacked some flavor. The cannelé were very good though! I think other chains like amour du pain and les pains dans les voiles are much better.

I'm a big fan of Bete a Pain. We have now worked a stop at Bete a Pain into our standard weekend routine. The bakery is conveniently located in Griffintown, not to far from home so we will typically stop in to grab a quick bite to eat and some bread to take home. The one warning about Bete a Pain is that it is connected to the Must furniture store so the trick here is to make a sop at the bakery without spending a thousand bucks on furniture on your way out. ;-) I really enjoy all their bread, which they bake on site in small batches throughout the day. Which means that there is a good chance that the baguette that you pick up will still be warm. My favorite loaf is the pain multigrain, but everything is good. As for brunch (served till 11:00 AM sharp) and lunch: Everything on the brunch menu is very good, but my fav is clearly the avocado toast. Served open faced on a slice of toast this dish offers a generous amount of avocado with a perfectly cooked egg, yolk still runny, with nice highlights to the flavor coming from olive and sesame oils and a sprinkle of bee pollen. On the lunch menu the grilled cheese is great as is the baguette sandwich, which s super simple but really hits the spot. The only item I would suggest you avoid is the tuna tataki which was a bit disappointing. But, in fairness this is not really the type of establishment that you would expect to find the greatest tuna tataki (if I were them I would remove it from the menu as t is a bit out of place). All around major thumbs up to Bete a Pain!

Yes, it's well known that this bakery (though it's so much more than that) has great coffee and tasty treats; However, that's not what makes them special. The fact that this is one of the very few places to get quality breakfast during the week, wins major points in my book! I got the avocado toast which was tasty and beautiful. Was it the most mind-blowing toast I've ever had? Not exactly, but it was good. It was made to order, the portion is massive and the ingredients looked and tasted fresh. Also, the coffee was fantastic! Also, this place has a great ambiance and vibe. There's lots of natural sunlight (which early in the morning I truly appreciate). This may be my new early-morning, week-day spot. I'm excited to return and try the French Toast!

A really lovely bakery in Griffintown and a great place for breakfast. Our first visit was on a Friday and it was nice and quiet. We opt'd for a couple of croissants and coffee. Both the almond and chocolate croissants were heavenly. The chocolate was rich & good quality and the almond was not your typical almond croissant where there is some almond paste in he middle; this version it is worked into the croissant itself and it's awesome. The second visit was a Saturday morning and the place was packed. There was only 1 poor waiter responsible for all of the tables so things took longer. The avocado toast was served with a poached egg over multi grain bread; it was an excellent version. The ricotta with strawberries was served on the corn bread and was delicious. We also tried a chocolate eclair; the best I have had anywhere. An exceptional place worth a visit;, those who live in the area are very lucky to have it.

Looking for a quick and easy lunch? Or maybe fresh, homemade bread to bring to a friend's wine and cheese? Check out la Bête a pain! I love passing by here whenever I'm in the neighbourhood. Parking is hard to come by, but this little gem of a spot is worth it! In addition to their sandwiches, they have lovely salads and baked good (try to choco chip cookies!).

La bete a pain is a great bakery in Griffintown. All their products are fresh and the quality is very good. The bread and baguette are prepared daily. I suggest you try their fig and romarin bread, amazing with any type of cheese and wine. They also have soft bun for burgers too. I always take the latte. Last time I was there, I took the beignet a l'erable which I recommend. Also, they propose 3 to 4 variety of french desserts like the lemon tart with meringue on top, the chocolate religieuse, the eclair du jour and others... This place is always crowded and you can pass by at any moment of the day and enjoy their crunchy and perfecly baked croissant. Go for the almond. For lunch and 5@7 they have a menu with small servings/portions. You can try their fried chiken burger or their tuna tataki or their amazing jambon fromage baguette. The entrance is located on young street which isn't very crowded. This allowed the bakery to be quiet and cozy for couples to meet there. In addition, it is connected to Must society. When I am done from la bete a pain, I always exit by Peel street. This allows me to pass by Must and see if they have any new furnitures. I should mention that the decor is one of the finest, a mix between the oriental and occidental.

Cosy place. I like to go there early in the morning or in the afternoon. I like to drink their coffee and enjoy their yummy pastry from croissant to tarte and cookies. My favorite is the lemon tarte, a must try. They also have a coffee machine that guarantees a fresh coffee. While there, you can also visit Must Society which is located right next to it. That place has nice furnitures. You can check my review about Must for more details.

A maple eclair, with a maple buttery crumble topping. Generously filled with maple silky custard. Each bite, is a bite of perfection!

In a city where every neighborhood has multiple boulangerie, La Bête à Pain has one of the better baguettes in town. And friendly staff.

This place was hands down a highlight of my Montréal food scene experience. The shop itself is very cute and cozy, with just two small tables by the window and a few chairs. The décor is simple, and so are your choices, which honestly works in their favor. When you step inside, you get a direct view of the bakers working their magic, which makes the experience even better. We ordered a hot chocolate, plain croissants, chocolate croissants, and a slice of the Kouign‑Amann. If you like a dark, rich hot chocolate that's not overly sweet, look no further, this is the place. As for the croissants, both the plain and chocolate versions were good but fairly standard. However, the real star was the Kouign‑Amann. It was served warm, perfectly crispy, and had just the right amount of sweetness without being overwhelming. It was so good that when I finished my slice, I went back to the counter hoping for more but they were sold out. To be fair, I arrived around 2pm and they close at 3pm. Despite that, the line moved quickly, and the staff were some of the sweetest people ever. My only regret? I only bought one slice. I'd highly recommend this place, but make sure you get there early if you want to snag a slice of Kouign‑Amann before they sell out.

I was intrigued, and since I can always go for some carbs I decided to head in and check this place out. Unlike most bakeries I visited, Boulangerie Guillaume has a much more modern look, and is larger than a standard bakery. Walking in, I was immediately greeted by stairs which led up to the main production area. All of the bakes were arranged on the back-wall perimeter of the space separated from the pedestrians by a glass wall. The color scheme was mostly black to contrast the bright yellow of the bags and signage. The arrangement of the bakes, combined with the color scheme and modern aesthetics, resulted in a stunning, visually striking presentation. I wasn't too hungry, but I can always go for some sweets and their date square looked good. I went with that, along with a cappuccino. The square was delicious - the dates were high quality, and the crust underneath was moist while maintaining its integrity. The cappuccino was also good, a great complement to the bake. Service was efficient, and overall I had a great experience at Boulangerie Guillaume. I definitely want to return to explore more of their menu - I noticed they had some savory items so perhaps for some lunch. Definitely one of the best bakeries I visited in Montreal.

The reviews looked great, so we made our way over for some bakes. I assume La Cave gets its name from the fact that you are kinda entering a cave. The bakery is located in a basement surrounded in stone both on the exterior and interior. The bakery isn't large, but it's arranged in a way that foot traffic flows well. They have a good variety of bakes, though we were there relatively late in the day so some had already run out. Despite that, we had several to choose from. We decided to go with the ham and cheese croissant and one of their stuffed croissants. The former was pretty standard - there's wasn't a lot of ham but the flavor was there. The latter was one of those viral circular croissants that have been popular on social media; they had three flavors and I went with the lemon meringue. It was pretty good - it had a good ratio of stuffing to pastry and the lemon curd had a bright flavor. Service as good, the team was eager to help and super efficient. Overall, I had a good experience at La Cave a Manger - there are definitely some good bakes here and I wouldn't hesitate to return to try more of their menu.

The Long Version: So I had never heard of Rossetti before. They didn't exist when I was living in Montreal (the 2000s) and after I left, my husband (who was still my boyfriend at the beginning) and I would return often (at least a few times a year until 2019) and I'm pretty sure they weren't around then. We took a few years hiatus from visiting Montreal and then when we returned in 2024, boom, Rossetti had 4 different locations in the downtown core! What's their origin story? I have no idea. Their website has no "About Us" section. All I know is they opened sometime between 2020 and 2024, lol. I tried their caramel eclair ($5.50). The caramel icing was really tasty, but I found the choux pastry and the custard filling a bit dry. They have cannoli, amaretti, financiers, croissants and tarts. They also have sandwiches and pizza. I was disappointed that they didn't have sfogliatella, my favourite Italian pastry. Oh, they also have coffees and teas. The interior is nice with seating to dine in. Service was neutral. I may return to try another item. Maybe at one of their other locations. Review #16 (2025)

While in Miami last year, my husband, mother-in-law and I became big fans of the Rosetta on lower Collins Ave and then once they opened the one by Lincoln Center in NYC, we began to visit that one often since it's walking distance. After climbing to the Kondiaronk Belvedere on Mont Royal, we decided we needed sustenance on our way back down and we spied Rosetti as we were walking back to our hotel. Since it looked very similar to Rosetta, we decided to stop in and grab a bite. The sandwiches and pastries were on full display and we knew we made a good choice. I had a Pizza Margherita which was huge...I could have shared it. I also had a caramel tart for a sweet treat afterwards. Others in the group had sandwiches and other sweets which they all enjoyed. There are some stools at a counter downstairs and a little more seating upstairs with a few low tables along with some high tops and counters. The ladies who worked there were very nice. We enjoyed our food and think it's a great place for a quick bite that's a bit elevated from traditional fast food.
