Nice to have a solid bar on College Street by UT that doesn't feel like it's going to disappear as soon as the January blahs set in. So here I was, finding myself having one of their pricey imported beers on tap at the upstairs bar, waiting on a friend. The service was just ok, and I felt like I needed to talk to myself because the staff wasn't really into it, which is unusual when one is sitting alone at the bar. Great spot to meet up with friends, whether inside or outside on the patio in the summer, it's just part of Toronto that is so lovable. read more

Not a huge pub fan and this place's outside decor, bunting, flags, etc. makes it scream pub mixed with used car lot. A really weird mix I thought I'd never want to explore. Plus the name Prenup Pub, a head scratcher. TL;DR: Great fries, 20 oz. pours, comfy interior, good service. But... I ended up inside with 4 friends after taking in some art down Dundas way. I was pleasantly surprised by the cozy interior. Lots of tables, comfy soft chairs, spacious place. Huge beer menu divided into sections headed by the nationality of the beers. "I'm Belgian!" "I'm Dutch!" "I'm Czech!" I can't remember what it said for the 3 local Ontario brews (Steamwhistle, Beaus)... maybe "I'm a hoser!" (joke). Anyway, that's what I was and I ordered the Beau's Hazy AF hazy, 20 oz. for $9.50. Most of the Euro-beers were in the $9.50 to 10.50 range. Lots of cocktails and whiskeys, too. I also had food. There are Belgian and German-influenced things like sausages and schnitzels, Trappist-style onion soup, plus the usual hand-held fare. I ordered a sausage on a pretzel bun, came with sauerkraut, onions, mustard - and fries included on the side ($16). Friends ordered burgers and they looked good. $16 base, plus extra for cheese/bacon. Also on pretzel buns. It was a decent meal. Not the best I've ever had, but decent. The fries were excellent and fresh-cut - and because it's a Belgian sort of place, they bring mayo for the fries as a matter of course. If you need a break on College, don't fear the bunting, you'll have a decent time here. Get the fries! read more

Beautiful pub, specially the second floor, which accommodated my whole large (~40 people) party. Here, time has passed gently on the wood floor and walls, which create a very intimate ambiance and cushioned sounds to talk and listening to others in my table without a problem. Prenup Pub is absolutely fantastic! I live in LA and was looking for a venue in Toronto to host a work event for about 10-15 people. This was the first place I called, and I knew it was the right place from the jump. Jon and Atef (the owner) were absolutely amazing in helping me plan a seamless event. Jon was our host and server for the day, and he was so attentitve and friendly. Atmosphere was very homey and comfortable, and the food was really delicious. They were so accommodating to all requests and allowed me to customize our platter orders. All guests were happy! Prices were extremely reasonable too. I highly recommend Prenup Pub for any type of outing really. It's casual enough for a quick drink or easy lunch, but it's also nice and spacious enough that you can host a corporate gathering. 1000% recommend for service, atmosphere, and food. This spot is excellent for exploring imported beers from Europe and they have an extensive menu of beers that would be hard to find elsewhere in Toronto! I tried the Lindemans Kriek Belgian cherry beer and it was delicious! Sweet and tart and a great choice if you like sours. We tried the smoked salmon pizza (all of their pizzas are made with puff pastry) and it was a disappointment on many levels. There was no flavour to it other than the smoked salmon and it was expensive (6 small pieces for 16 dollars)! Would return to try more of their drinks, but would probably stay away from the food! read more

Came here with a few coworkers for apps and drinks on their patio yesterday and our server was very friendly and attentive. She came around a good amount of times to check up on us if everything was okay for food and drinks. It was raining a little bit but thankfully their umbrellas are massive to cover all 6 of us under one umbrella! They have a wide selection of beer and other mixed alcoholic beverages - I got the Caesar and it was pretty plain. It had a lot of ice which kind of diluted the flavour a bit but it was still decent with a good amount of spice and coated rim. For food, I ordered their Belgium poutine which is your classic poutine with gravy and cheese curds. The portion size was enormous and I did not expect a big plate for only $10! It was a bit salty but still managed to finish it. The pesto veggie pizza was a bit disappointing as it lacked the pesto sauce (barely tasted any and didn't even see much of it on the pizza). The veggies on it were decent - could have been a bit more seasoned with something maybe because it was a little bland. I love croissants but don't know how puff pastry works together with 'pizza toppings'. It was not worth the ~$21 (after tax and tip) for this. I rather have ordered a bigger and better pizza elsewhere for less price. Some of my coworkers had ordered their burger and they mentioned that they enjoyed it. However one coworker had it with a side of poutine and they added so much gravy to it on the same plate, her buns got all soggy which wasn't as enjoyable. This would probably overall be a 2 star rating for me but because of the large patio with big umbrellas for convenience, good location, good service, decent pricing for drinks - they deserve 3 stars. Like the world is just ignoring you? while I traveled to Toronto from Kansas city, I've lived here for much of my life I always thought the service at most places were average at best. so when I came here, the patio was about half full and i didn't expect much. great, perfect to grab a quick drink since they seemed to have 3-4 servers for not many people. then about 5 mins in, it starts getting busier. 10 mins in I ask for my server. 15 mins in, people in that rush are getting served. one couple....twice. that's it. I left and complained to the manager. it's funny how he wanted to make things "right". what he meant was someone was finally going to serve me. why not make things "right" the first time around? I walked to The Red Room down the street. I was given my beer in the first three minutes and it was busy as well with half the staff. I got my food order 10 minutes later. I'm trying to write this review and my server keeps interrupt me with Great Service! if I were here, I might still be waiting. luckily I didn't sign a prenup, so I didn't have to pay anything, just lost about 30 mins of my life. read more

We came here with a laaaarrrggeee group of people around the end of April to celebrate the end of exams. With reservations ahead of time, we were given part of the upstairs seating area since we had such a large ensemble. Seating for a large group was not very comfortable, we were all quite squished. We all ordered food and drinks. And waited, and waited, and waiteeedddddd for ages. The food took 5ever to come and even then the would arrived sporadically. Like, literally we were there for around 3 hours, and in the last 30 mins was when we finally received our food. Good food would've made the wait seem worth it. But GOORRRLLL the food was no bueno. It was lukewarm and super mediocre. We ordered the German Poutine & Hot Hamburger Waffle. German Poutine came with a long ass sausage on top. It was just ok, a tad too salty. The Hot Hamburger Waffle suckkked so bad. The waffle was those sugar waffles that you could buy from Costco and was wayyy too sweet for a hot hamburger. Service-wise... just totally inept with large groups. The server we had was apologetic about the wait. One of our friend's meal never arrived even after waiting a couple hours so he comp'd her drink. The kitchen is definitely not equipped to deal with such a large party all ordering at once. Likely won't return after such a disappointing experience. read more

We sat outside which was really great atmosphere. We would of liked to have music on outside like it was on the inside. Look at that thing. They cheaped out so hard in ingredients. It had maximum one piece of smoked salmon ripped up and divided between 6 pieces of puff pastry. There was a pathetic amount of brie cheese and the rest was padded with tomato, cucumber and capers. The whole thing was so dry, you'd think they'd spread some cream cheese or sour cream on it to tie the dish together. Honestly, the most pathetic attempt of smoked salmon ever. All that for $14, seriously a joke. Our server, a bigger gentleman was rude and dismissive. Honestly, do not recommend this place. He said it was really good and he'd get it again. The pork schnitzel was huge! I ordered the Prenup Burger. It was okay. The burger was a bit overcooked but tasty and the bun was a bit much. Came here on a Saturday night with a party of 11 and the inside wasn't busy at all. The patio of course was filled though. Our server was amazing, 10/10. He was always attentive, kind, and gave everyone a good recommendation of menu items. I ordered the Fruli Strawberry Wheat which was amazing. I also ordered the Garlic Puff Pastry Cheese ($12). Cheesy, flaky, garlic-y, so good. I would definitely recommend getting this as an appetizer. The seats are very comfortable, but the tables/seats are way too close to one another. RIGHT! came here for a birthday for a friend of mine, and all of my mutual friends really sold me on this location, saying that i would love it very much. i looked at the menu in advanced to make sure i knew what i was having before i got into the restaurant. got in and we were situated way in the back, but we had the whole back of the restaurant to our selves. i placed my order when the waitress came around to get orders, German Poutine With German sausage, cheese curds and Warsteiner dunkel beer gravy to start, Chicken Schnitzel, Topped with garlic parsley ghee, served with Belgian frites for my entree. both items were fantastic in every way, but the poutine was a bit weird, how i understood the german sausage would be that it would be mixed in with the frites, or in the gravy, nope! i was wrong on both fronts, the sausage came as a full sized link on top of everything, was pretty funny to get the food that way. transit options are the queen's park subway station stop with a bit of a walk and the 506 college streetcar with a walk as well. parking is available in the area, on the street directly, side streets and private lots in the neighborhood. a great night, with outstanding service and high quality food, can't wait to come back! read more

Stopped by for a quick lunch with some coworkers. I had the basic burger with some fries. The portion size was quite large, with a ton of fries laid out on the plate. However the burger was so inedible and I ate it out of desperation because I was starving. The beef patty tasted like a frozen grocery store patty with no flavour whatsoever. I washed it down with a huge cup of water. But the food there is not that great. The prices are very reasonable, however the food quality is below average. Prenup pub Was here on a Saturday evening around 5/6 not too many people. My first time at this gastro bar, my wife has been there a few times I thought I'd give it a try! We were a group of 7 people. Location: On College st, just across the street of UofT. On street parking only. Nearest parking lot is on McCaul a few minutes walk from the pub. You can find on street parking near by, but it's very limited. 3/5 stars Atmosphere: Even during the day, the interior was very dark. Very much a pub feel, decor is man cave look with leather everywhere. Not so loud music so conversation within your party is not a screaming match. 4/5 stars Service: Well here's where it starts to go down hill for me. We were ready for order, even when flagging other waiters, they would not take our order since they did not handle our table. For a non busy time, it took them a long time to bring out the food. Furthermore, we had to request several time for water and was ignored. We were also being pressured to vacate the tables, although there was no line up. Very poor service 1/5 stars Food: Typical bar food. I ordered a grilled chicken wrap with fries and my wife had the lamb. Nothing special, no real good flavours. The lamb was bland and chewy. As a Montrealer, I was disappointed to find out they call fries, gravy and mozzarella cheese as a poutine. I'm sorry but that's not a real poutine. Plus the gravy was too salty 1/5 stars Price: Everything was reasonably priced. As a pub, their beer is priced correctly, non inflated. 3/5 stars Overall: Not really impressed with this place. I guess they are still in business because of the university across the street. A bar near campus is a plus. Decent pub right new UofT's campus. I've never tried their food, but their selection of beers is excellent. The waitstaff are also incredibly knowledgeable and very willing to recommend beers to try. For my prenup pub review it gets a 2/5 for the simple fact that the food killed this review. But let's start with the positives. First arriving at the prenup pub you think it has a cool name but looks like any other pub from the outside. When you get in however, the ambiance changes that opinion. The servers are fast to help you and providing great customer service. The beer menu is in-depth and provides a great variety of beer from around the world. I personally had the Omer beer from Belgium which was 12% alcohol for $8.00. I enjoyed that. We ordered the German poutine to start. The portion had a great variety of sausage, fries, kurds and gravy however the food was way to salty. My entree was the pork schnitzel. I was greatly disappointed with this choice. The food was just bland and to salty. I would not choose that again. For those wanting to grab a quick beer after a hard days work I would recommend the prenup pub. If you want a nice dinner out with a hot date, I would steer clear of the prenup pub. read more

Wow! Such a beautiful gastropub. It is such a beautifully designed restaurant, from the seating to the ceilings, to the spotless washrooms! They really turned the place inside out (though I do miss Pour Girl!). Have been here a couple of times now. We ordered the Beer Braised Chicken Drums which have become my favourite! Moist and crispy with a hint of maple - definitely recommend you try it. Madame Monsieur Waffle - a delicious waffle and savoury meat, but a bit too heavy and salty for my taste. Don't regret trying it though! Charcuterie Pizza - the fact that it is made with puff pastry is so unique and like a whole new pizza experience! The meats and cheeses were a perfect medley. Would definitely get this again! The Belgian Frites are quite delicious as well. They have a beautiful upper level seating area that looks like it would be great for private functions. Overall, as a student, this is a great hang out for a quick drink and a bite to eat. Delicious food in a classier atmosphere compared to the other pubs by the university. read more

Just stopped in for a quick pint before heading to an event. It was a short walk from Queen's Park Station. Two levels of seating makes it easy to find somewhere to sit, but not easy to find your friends, if they've already arrived! The beer selection was freaking fantastic. Wishing I could've stayed and tried more beers. It was hard to decide! A couple people in my small group grabbed some food and seemed satisfied. We were all collectively happy about the beer. The salad exceeded my exceptions and the sandwich was pretty good, albeit pretty standard. I think the meal was only $11 or $12 bucks which is very good value, especially in the downtown core. Delicious from start to finish. The staff are so friendly and super attentive, maybe a bit too serious. I may have saw one of them smile, once. Maybe. Anyway, the decor is classy, upscale and it makes me feel like I belong there. I chose the specials for my lunch. The curry coconut chicken soup was SO GOOD. I followed it up with the chicken cordon bleu. The chicken was a little over-cooked and I found it odd that they put marinara on it along with ham and Swiss cheese. Very good food! The Garlic Puff Pastry This was a pizza on phyllo dough and it was outstanding. A very unique dish and so delicious. I love anything that's crispy and flaky. Top it with garlic and cheese and I'm in heaven! The Traditional Belgian Croquettes With smoked cheese and vegetables, these fried balls of goodness were crispy on the outside, soft, smoky and cheesy on the inside and very tasty! The Portobello Schnitzel Delicious, fried perfectly (crisp breading, moist Portobello) and a nice-sized portion. Another unique dish as I've never seen this type of Schnitzel on any menu before. Very nice flavour with the pesto tomato sauce. This pub is very charming on the inside. You can't tell from the outside but it's very nicely decorated on both floors. Management was great at accommodating our large group of people (20+). They didn't set a time limit for our group on a Saturday night which was why we selected this venue. ONLY DRINK HERE, DON'T EAT HERE. This is a wonderfully comfortable place with an awesomely warm and luxurious interior of wood panelling and leather chairs. The beer menu is extensive and each beer is extremely well described. Great place for beer lovers to try a few pints that are hard to get elsewhere. However, there's no way this place should be described as a gastropub. Burgers are dense, flavourless masses of grey, grey meat. Fries have that texture of fries left suspended over the oil or cooked in oil under temperature. Pesto "pizza" looks like someone spread pesto over a Costco-sized pop tart. The things they've done with food here are practically sacrilegious! And veggies, you doubly want to eat elsewhere. They have eight-zillion specials and not even the soup is vegetarian. I feel like there's a time/space anomaly going on between this pub and it's kitchen. Definitely deserves a 5 out of 5 for beer and ambience... especially compared to what was there before! You go for the beer - and it delivers... They have something for everyone and they are so delicious. The ambience and renovations are top notch. Great new pub and big with a nice patio and an upstairs. The only con is the food we came with a bunch of people and interested in sharing appetizers. The charcuterie plate for 2 is ok, but definitely needs to come with some sort of crackers or bread - we had to keep asking for rolls of bread that we would have to cut / tear which is not ideal for sharing. Tried the german poutine and the eggplant dish - all were quite tasty... I guess the charcuterie plate was a disappointment and a simple addition of some carbs would go a long way.
