We visited this place during the holiday market so it was packed. There was a wait since it was a group of 8. They said it would be a 30 minute wait and that we would get a text. We got a text that our table is ready 30 mins later. However, when we checked in, our table was not ready. We waited for 5 minutes until another hostess approached us and she put our tables together. Once we were seated, we weren't even given any menus. It wasn't until 15 mins after that someone checked in on us since she asked if anyone has taken our order, to which we replied we haven't gotten any menus yet. She gave us a few minutes to look through the menu and took our drink orders then food order. We only ordered some appetizers to share. Our drinks took awhile, but once we got it, so did our food. My favorite was the dip trio with pita. Pro tip: mix the dip for some serious flavor explosion.

It's a good beer and they have really stepped up their variety since the last time I went, about 10-12 years ago. Beer is solid, and a welcome respite from walking around the distillery district. I got a flight and was pleased with everything, the stouts particular are sleepers. Folks at the bar were great, really helpful in terms of walking your through what you like and don't.

After Gord and I saw Fool for Love, we had an early supper at Mill Street Beer Hall. It was a warm sunny day so we sat at a shaded high-top on the patio. I ordered Fried Chicken. I have had creamed corn in about a hundred years and this was definitely not like the canned stuff I'd had as a kid ... the kernels were crisp and were in milk and onion. The stuffing was good, though I couldn't taste the sausage. The chicken were thighs and were tender and juicy. A little more gravy would have been nice. I'd get this again. Gord loves schitzel and ordered Chicken Schnitzel. He'd never had spätzle before and liked it. He enjoyed the schnitzel ... I had a bite and thought it was okay. To be, the star of the dish was the sausage ... it was delicious. He'd get this again. Sean was our server and he was friendly.

I came for a work event and it was held partitioned off at the back as well as part of the patio. The location in the distillery district is always good. I love the architecture and the juxtaposition with the rest of the city. The food that was provided was very average. I reckon that this depends on how much the company is willing to pay. There was a table of raw veggies with dip and bread/pita (I don't know since I didn't have any), another table of make your own tacos with the taco shells, choice of chicken or beef, topping such as tomatoes, lettuce and then salsa and guacamole. The last station had a cook re-heat macaroni along with spinach, spring onions, bacon and protein (sausage, chicken, etc) and mix it all with a cheese sauce.

We came here before the 3rd wave lockdown and sat on the patio. They allowed our little doggy to come dine with us and a few other tables had pets with them as well. Before entering, the screened us, took our contact information, and ensured that we lived in the same household. Once on the patio, the tables are spaces decently, with dividers were the 6 ft distancing was not possible. One thing was that there were large parties (8+ people) coming in after us that were trying to join tables, so I wasn't sure what the point of screening/ensuring same household in the beginning was. They had giant heaters spaced out around the patio, which was nice for warmth. We ordered 2 drinks, nachos, and wings. Drinks, food, and atmosphere were great! The bill came out to $60 plus tax, which is definitely pricey, but I guess being in the heart of downtown, that is normal. Food and drinks were are great - no complaints there! However, I will say service could be better. Bare minimum, nothing special.

On a hot summer afternoon we went to the bier hall for Schnitzel. We sat at the outdoor patio. Very clean and tables were well distanced. The schnitzel was a dinner meal and runs about $24. We got our meal and we were flabbergasted at the huge portion. The schnitzel was crispy and delicious with the mushroom gravy. The French fries underneath were buttery and scrumptious. You get a lot of food, so it's a good value for the money. This can easily be shared by two people. Beautiful day to enjoy a beer and schnitzel. Definitely try this and make sure you come hungry!

Had a super fun night here Friday night (just a couple days ago). My friend and I had just driven in from Rochester, NY, basically in a blizzard, and missed our 7 pm reservation by a whole hour. Our host where we were staying called on our behalf and they agreed to respect the reservation, so we walked in around 8 pm and were taken direct to our table in the bar. We had a great waitress, Bryn (?) who helped us pick beers for our flights, and provided extra details about the poutine that we each ordered as our entrees: the cheese curds are cold though the fries, gravy and brisket are hot....isn't that always how poutine is served?? We loved the very American roots-rock music selection played by the DJ, thought the noise level was acceptable, and enjoyed our conversation with Bryn, our beers and our meal. (The single serving of poutine is massive - enough for two people - and is super rich and totally decadent!) By the way, the beer flights come in 6 oz and 8 oz options, which we also appreciated, and the atmosphere was very lively and young. I would go back in the summer to enjoy the outdoor seating area.

Hmm, I wonder why this place isn't as highly reviewed as I thought. :/ My husband and I accidentally found this place back in December when we were in the Distillery District and our experience was great, so we decided to go back again. The restaurant is very spacious and has a bar area sectioned off in the back-ish with four TV monitors playing sports. The main dining area has a lot of tables that may feel intimate if you're sitting in a booth seat. When we first went in December, they also had seating outside with the bar open in front of the restaurant with the outdoor patio heaters. The food here is good (nothing that jumps out to you, but still good). When we went in December, we had a couple entrées and drinks. I don't remember anything special about the food, but I do remember the service was great. This time around, we tried the Dublin Nachos (St. Patrick Day's menu) with drinks. The Dublin Nachos are basically lattice cut (potato) fries with bacon, cheese, and kale. They weren't bad but extremely oily and so my husband and I ended up not finishing. :( I think it'd be interesting to see how this place is in the warmer months with cool beer and snacks. :)

Great beer options!!! Nano brews are available on a seasonal basis. Atmosphere is casual and a great place to meet a group of friends. You can get a flight of 8 oz. beers (4) for $14. We had the sweet potato fries with vegan aioli - they were pretty good.

Ohhhh yeahhh, great place that just screams of 'fall' to me, because it's warm, it's cosy and most of all BEER. Tried many of Mill St beers of course, Hopped and Confused has long been one of my favourites but it was good today to try some of the I guess seasonal flavours Radler- Rhuby Cove - Altbier - Tankhouse were the best ones today, the Rhuby Cove especially is kind of a 'treat' Definitely worth a visit for any beer fan but just worth going to in general for a good mix of a proper brewery and a sports bar in one...the food menu also has a great selection for anyone (obviously you got to get nachos) PS - standard beer flight is one 10$ for 4 which I think is really well priced!

Beer and Patio on a nice summer evening! I did not order any food, which I usually never eat at breweries and pubs. I might not be the #1 fan of Mills Street's products but it is good to see how a local brewery is getting so successful. There are quite a few beer seasonal on tap and even try their bierschnaps at 45% abv. Since I was sitting at the bar on the patio, I received fast and friendly service from the bartender. I definitely will be back for some more beer drinking on the patio when I am in the Distillery District. .

Mill Street Beer Hall is attached to the Brew Pub. Not really sure why they decide to separate into two different restaurants, but according to the website both places have different food menus. For this review I would be writing about the Beer Hall. The Beer Hall has a nice big patio, great for enjoying their nano-brewed beers. I was told that they recently revamped their food menu, and I thought the food was quite decent. The BBQ platter for 4 was excellent - with biscuits, sausages, ribs, beef brisket and beer-brined fries. If you were to choose only one thing from their menu, this would be on top of my list. The roasted cauliflower was great, as was the standalone brisket and elk burger. There is a vegetarian flatbread as well if you don't feel like having meat. Considering the location and the heavy presence of mid-high end restaurants inside the Distillery District, I think this is a great place for some casual eats and brews without breaking the bank.

On a cold, damp day, while visiting the Toronto Christmas Market, the flaming heaters on the patio seemed very inviting. We did, however, choose to sit inside. My guests, Floridians for most of their lives, were freezing! We were greeted and seated promptly and a server soon showed up with complimentary beer samples. Nice! Can we have seconds? Thirds? No? Darn! It was a nice touch. With dinner on our itinerary only four hours later, we chose to share a pizza and an order of perogies. Of course, we had to have a cocktail to warm up. The cocktails were good and the food was tasty but could have been served a little warmer. Overall, it was a good experience with nice ambiance and good service.

The hotel lobby was nicely decorated for the holiday season, with a Christmas tree, large "Happy Holidays" sign, and other festive decorations. The ambiance inside the restaurant, just like the rest of the hotel, was classy. Service was good. There was an option to do coat check at the front. Reservation is highly recommended, especially on weekends, as they tend to get very busy. Underground parking is available at the RBC building next door, or at the hotel. Food was really good, and in decent portion sizes. The sides were bigger than we thought, so we took away some leftovers. 1) PEI Mussels Pot (mussels with bell pepper & red onion vinaigrette), served with grilled sourdough bread - The bell pepper and red onion vinaigrette was delicious and on point. I liked that the pot had enough but not too much broth - enough to dip the bread in, but didn't fully cover all the mussels (making the mussels retain some of their original flavour). 2) Miso Black Cod (black cod with sake, miso, crispy lotus roots, sesame seeds, pea shoots) - One of my favourite dishes of the night. The cod was delicate and seasoned perfectly with the sake and miso. The crispy lotus roots added a nice crunch. 3) Mushrooms Bowl (jasmine rice, miso mixed mushrooms, roasted squash, crispy Brussels sprouts, cherry tomatoes, chilli threads, garlic crisps, basil) - Great vegetarian dish. There was a LOT of rice in the bowl, and the rice was flavourful with the miso sauce. The mixed mushrooms were 10/10. I also liked the balance of cooked and raw vegetables in this bowl, giving a touch of freshness. For each main, we got to choose 1 side. We opted to add extra veggie sides. Brussels Sprouts were also available as appetizer, which came in a large bowl (bigger portion size compared to the side). We were able to get it without the bacon, and the vinaigrette sauce on the side. The Brussels sprouts were perfectly crispy and flavourful, even without the vinaigrette add-on. The Grilled Vegetables side consisted of broccolini, zucchini, red and yellow peppers. Roasted Squash was lightly topped with a bit of chopped parsley. All of the sides that we got were excellent. After dinner, we headed out to the patio / terrace for the Christmas holiday market. There was a separate holiday market-special menu, with some light bites and drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). It was a small market, but decorated very nicely with all the lights, fire pits, and the iconic Ritz-Carlton vintage green car. It had 100% cozy Christmas holiday vibes, with great photo ops. Even though it was technically outside, the fire pits made the market area feel quite warm.

Epoch: An Underrated Gem Exceeding Expectations…read more Epoch far exceeded my expectations. Having only seen recommendations for their afternoon tea, I didn't anticipate much from their main courses, and the menu seemed fairly unassuming at first glance. However, upon arrival, I quickly realized its charm. The restaurant's decor leans towards a relaxed, spacious, and comfortable setting, with plush sofa seating as the main arrangement. The atmosphere was pleasantly quiet, making it an ideal spot for a solo meal. The service was notably warm and attentive--staff frequently checked in on my experience, refilled my water, wiped down my table, and even packed up leftovers with care. Soup of the Day I was pleasantly surprised when the soup of the day turned out to be a beef consommé. The aroma alone was enticing, with a rich base of onions and beef, complemented by celery, garlic, and black pepper. The sweetness, primarily from the onions, was subtle--less pronounced than stir-fried onions and beef but perfectly balanced for a soup. A layer of broiled cheese on top added depth to the texture. It was served with crispy garlic bread, which soaked up the broth beautifully, though the richness of the oil made it slightly heavy when paired with the soup. Surprisingly, the soup was loaded with generous chunks of beef, making it one of the most satisfying dishes I've had recently--not necessarily the best-tasting, but certainly the most fulfilling. Caesar Salad As part of the meal, you can choose a salad as a main course, essentially allowing for two appetizers. A classic Caesar salad, well-executed, with the standout feature being a single anchovy fillet on top. Jindori Chicken Skewers These skewers closely resembled Japanese yakitori, with the flavors driven by chili powder and a kumquat glaze. Some parts had a distinct char, which, according to the server, was an intentional "bitter charred" profile crafted by the chef--an interesting taste experience, if nothing else. That said, it didn't detract from the dish, as the chicken remained tender and juicy inside. The portion size was unexpectedly large, and my side choice of mashed potatoes arrived as an entire bowl. Lightly salted and incredibly smooth, it remained enjoyable without becoming overwhelming. Korean Short Ribs ($42) I enjoyed my meal so much that I couldn't resist ordering a server-recommended dish: the Korean short ribs. And wow--the portion was staggering, easily enough for two. The beef itself was almost fist-sized, making me wonder if the restaurant's core appeal is in serving generous portions at a great value. The dish was garnished with vegetables, layered over a bed of kimchi. I had never appreciated kimchi as a pairing for beef before, but its acidity and spice perfectly balanced the richness of the meat while retaining its crisp texture. The addition of lion's head peppers further rounded out the dish, offering both a subtle sweetness and a way to mellow out the kimchi's acidity. Warm Bread Pudding A substantial serving, though not particularly groundbreaking, but still above average. Topped with a scoop of coffee ice cream, the pudding itself had a caramelized golden crust and a dusting of mildly sweet powdered sugar. The sweetness was well-controlled, making it easy to keep taking bite after bite. Overall Impression While the menu might seem ordinary at first glance, Epoch delivers exceptional value within its price range. Compared to more formal dining spots, this restaurant fosters a more relaxed atmosphere--more akin to a teahouse, making it a great place for catching up with friends. The portion sizes are astonishing, and while the dishes aren't particularly innovative, they are consistently well-executed, with a high baseline quality. A hidden gem that deserves more attention and a strong recommendation.

This was first on our list, located in the Scotiabank Tower on Adelaide. We got a nice corner table, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting, not too loud but not library-like either. The music, mostly UK fare like their cuisine, played an acceptable volume that my friends and I didn't have to raise our voices. We were seated very promptly, and our server took care to attend to my friend's allergy. She even asked to change my friend's cutlery when another server brought the wrong salad. My appetizer was a hot-smoked salmon pâté, which was ok by itself, but eaten with the pickles gave it that taste I wouldn't forget. I chose for my main the Petit Roast Dinner; the cut was excellent, full of flavour and juicy to boot. The gravy for said cut just brought the roast to another level. The sides were delicious as well, especially the crispiness of the potatoes. A clean plate was the end result! Finally to finish the meal, I chose the chocolate banoffee cheesecake - I never pass on any cheesecake when it's offered. And it didn't disappoint! The banana brûlée was an interesting touch, while having toffee sauce drizzled on the cheesecake was a first (and not definitely last) for me! All in all, it was a nice introduction to The Rabbit Hole, and I can't wait to go down there again!
