I was told the training was all play and relationship based. I was concerned when I picked my dog up from the two week board and train because he kept trying to run away from the training room and hide behind my legs during turnover. Levi shocked him at such a high level that he cried multiple times when demonstrating commands (he told me that he was at a level 9 on a higher voltage collar than he originally started with because the dog is "stubborn" and "lazy."). I think dogs should always love training or something is being done wrong. Although I am not opposed to e collars in principle, I believe it was overused due to a lack of skill in really understanding this dog. When my dog came home I switched entirely to positive reinforcement because of what I had seen. At first my dog flinched when I gave him commands. He winced and turned on his side. He seemed afraid but like he did not know what to do to avoid punishment. I found an injury on his neck in the area the e-collar had been used. He is now working willingly and happily for me. There is never any "stubbornness" or "laziness." He loves training time. The program I purchased came with lifetime support if I returned for a follow up appointment, which of course I didn't do, because I could not fathom making my dog go back to the place of his mistreatment, and why would I want any more "advice" from abusive psuedo-trainers anyway? I did contact Levi about these concerns and he took zero accountability--which means he will do the same thing to more dogs.

Just when I found a groomer I loved, they would end up leaving or getting fired. Something is up with that store! Perhaps poor management? AGAIN, I'm left scrambling for a new groomer! They never let you know in advance. I was told by the store manager that they can't call all of those appointments that are scheduled 3 months out. If you don't mind getting a new groomer all the time, you might not mind the constant changes. I won't be going back. Pretty disappointing and truly they act like they don't really care.

(This happened at several popular boarding locations in or around Davis County prior to finding CC.) The staff loves all the pets that come through their doors. Lots structures for dogs to play on. The dogs get a lot of interaction and exercise. While it took his paws some time to tough up to the hard surfaces, I appreciate that that means he's always fairly clean vs playing in dirt and gravel. They've been proactive about communicating any issues they notice on him, like his paw sensitivity which has since resolved itself. All of the employees seem to really enjoy being there and their jobs. I appreciate that they are open for pickup until 7pm! They also offer affordable upgrades for bath or pool time. I imagine this place wouldn't work out for people visiting SLC because you'd have to arrange a fecal test, vaccine paperwork, and a trial day before they'll schedule you. It's worth noting that they also don't allow unfixed/neutered dogs and since we waited 1.5 years, we weren't able to visit until more recently. The one thing I wish they had is crates to enforce some "calm down" time for our overly excitable pup.

This is my second time going through the program. The first time was 15 years ago in another state. The SMS trainers in Salt Lake City (Redwood Road) are knowledgeable, well-trained and eager to help with any behavioral issues while going through the SMS training program. Whenever my Golden Doodle challenges me, I feel comfortable calling and speaking to any one of the trainers at SMS.

She used…read moreto pull on her leash (because husky) and now she heels perfectly, even at home when we walk her. She goes to her place and meets people without jumping all over them. They have also taught us tricks on how to manage her resource guarding with other dogs which we are very thankful for. You can tell the trainers here really love what they do and the dogs they work with. We did the 10 day board and train, and just know this was not easy for my husband and I. This dog is our world and we don't just trust anyone with her. They answered all my questions, sent extra updates and pictures and really made me feel so much better about having my dog with them. And she seemed happy when we went to pick her up, I can safely say they took good care of our dog. The trainers gave us all the tools to keep the training going at home as this is the only way it will stick. The follow up lessons have been helpful as well. The training is for us as much as it is for the dogs. I personally feel it was worth the money, time and effort. All dogs need training, boundaries and structure. I would recommend this place and the trainers to everyone and will definitely be bringing our future dogs here.
