I've taken my dog in a few times and the staff was friendly but looked super tired and over worked. Then this morning I went in to drop off my dog and had a few questions because I couldn't get the app to work. The owner was sitting at the front desk and was irritated that I had bothered her with my questions. She told me I had to figure it out on my own at home. I asked her one final question about billing and she started to scream, saying she was under staffed and was going to kick my dog out of day care because she said, "I know people like you". I'm confused, so I'm not allowed to ask questions regarding their billing for the services I'm paying for? Or how the app works so I can schedule boarding?! I immediately thought of the poor employees. The employees were so nice. Then I read the employees reviews and they did confirm the horrible conditions and dogs neglected and staff neglected. Made a reservation and gave $120 deposit. We called a day before our reservation because we had to cancel our trip to Cancun due to the hurricane and were told that we would not get our deposit back. I understand the 48 hours policy but due to the hurricane it was out of our control so we asked if we could use the $120 towards a future reservation and were told no. So we basically gave away $120 there was no understanding of the situation or even an attempt to work with us. Definitely lost a recurring customer. read more

My sister and I had a last minute truck for thanksgiving to see family out of state, and we didn't want our huskies to be stuck in the hotel for 5 days so our friend told us about Coddled Critters, so we checked them out; i was very scared and worried dropping off my kids. But after seeing the reviews and talking to the staff they assured me that they would be well taken care of and that i could watch them on camera. The staff were amazing, they took great care of our huskies and I was able to call everyday and get an update on them everyday, and sometimes a few times a day. I really appreciate the time and dedication they gave to our huskies. Thank you all. Also, our puppies got the ultimate bath and they came home smelling and looking great. Was really happy and excited to see they had a good time. The only thing i didn't like was that we can't really see them on camera that much since there is only one camera and not more, I hope in the future they add more cameras, I'd even donate money for them to add more cameras so we can see our kids. We recently had to find a new groomer due to our long-term groomer moving out of the state (which is devastating!) and recently moving to North Salt Lake. We have a 5 year old Pomeranian Shih-Tzu that is used to being groomed as we take him in every 4 to 5 weeks. Coddled Critters Pet Resort and Spa is convenient as it is less than 10 minutes away from where we live. Due to that, we decided to give it a shot (even though the reviews aren't great). We took our pup in twice and had issues both times. The first time we took our pup in, he was groomed very well and the groomer did exactly what we asked for. The only issue we had during that visit was some confusion upon pickup as they had multiple dogs with the same name as ours. They didn't do anything to verify which dog we were actually there to get, so it took longer than necessary to pick up our pup as they tried to bring us a different dog. The second (and last) time we took him in, which was just over this last weekend, we had a different groomer. I stated exactly what we wanted (rounded teddy bear head, short ears, trimmed tail, #4 length on the body) and even had a picture for reference. Unfortunately, he was not groomed to what we had requested... Along with that, he had poop on his butt that was never cleaned, and the hair was not trimmed at all in that area. I paid extra for them to dremel his nails, but I do not believe they did that as his nails are still quite long. When we arrived for pick up, the groomer told us that he had fleas when she brushed out his tail, which was very alarming as we regularly get him groomed AND we just had a baby so we keep a very clean living area. Our pup doesn't go to daycare or socialize with other dogs very often, so we have no idea how he would have gotten fleas. Our dog sleeps in our bed most of the time, so we found it hard to believe that we wouldn't have seen the fleas or been bitten by them. This freaked us out so we ended up taking the rest of the day to wash EVERYTHING he had been on or around as we couldn't risk anything with our newborn. We scheduled an appointment with the vet to get him checked as soon as possible (which happened to be first thing this morning). Our suspicion was correct and he definitely does NOT have fleas... If the groomer did see fleas, that means they have them in their facility from a different animal and they need to do some deep cleaning to prevent it from spreading. Due to this experience and outcome, we will not be risking another visit to Coddled Critters. I recommend everyone else do the same and look elsewhere for grooming. read more

I was a customer for 7+ years where both my dogs started here as puppies. Over the past 3 years I have watched this place go down hill. There was a new sign tackily posted every week of some new restraint, rule, fee increase, etc.... Even though i was observing their care for my dogs decline dramatically. As I work in the travel industry, Sammie stays the night more than most, but he is always soooo excited when we get in the car to head that way, that he can hardly contain himself. Their kindness and generosity allows me to confidently know that he is in good and safe hands. I provided my cats' vaccination records the day before, heard nothing back. The day I go to drop them off, they tell me the cats can't stay because their vaccinations aren't up to date. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. They locked my dog in a cage for over 2 hours. I watched it on their webcam and will post pictures with time stamps. During that time I was in a meeting and happened to be checking in on the webcams and noticed he was in a cage for about 1.5 hours at this point. I tried to call them multiple times to see why and when they finally answered they gave me a bullsh!t response then hung up. Didn't answer any other calls (assuming they recognized my number) so I left work and went to get my pup. When I arrived, asked for my dog and asked what was going on they wouldn't look me in the eye or respond. I would never trust them with any animal and hope others won't either. And on top of that their lobby was dirty as sh!t so that should have been my first indication that they can't properly handle any part of their "business". Don't trust any comment you see back from them saying they've "improved". If you actually dig into it (and I wish I would have more prior to this but they bury them) you'll see how they've mistreated/lost many pets and defend themselves in the comments rather than improve. Some things never change. If you're like me your pet is your life and it's expected the best care is provided when leaving them somewhere. I wouldn't recommend going here. They let my friends dog escape and she HASNT even found her dog yet! They aren't helping with the situation at all and blamed my friends dog for it. They were being really insensitive as well. Her dog has been lost for two days. Not happy with their groomer. She was quite rude, over charged me after showing me a price when I got there. She cut my dogs ears short after I asked her not to cut the length at all. She also cut her hair completely off at the top of her ears saying the previous groomer must have did it. Christine at the front desk went out of her way to apologize and make it right but the solution from the owner was "she can have a 20% discount on her next grooming appointment". First off, I won't go back to this groomer and secondly the 24.00 overcharge would not even be corrected with their offered discount. I understand my dog was anxious after a previous bad experience but to be short with me, over charge and then not respect how I wanted her groomed is not acceptable. read more

I LOVE CODDLED CRITTERS AND SO DOES MY GSD I spent the last year on an unlimited daycare pass for my dog. My partner travels for work and I'm a nurse so reliable exercise and socialization for my beloved Argo. For at least a couple hours of the day, he was at Coddled Critters 20-25 days a month. He would still go there daily(even though it's out of the way for my new job) if I could drop him off early enough to get to work. Seriously, I considered hiring someone to drive my dog to daycare to stay with Coddled Critters because they are so good to my dog. Read that again. We still use them for boarding because we love them that much. First, there has never been an outbreak of kennel cough in the time I have taken my dog here. Several of the staff members bring their own dogs with so that's not something that would have impacted their dogs too. Second, I wish people would stop posting sexist double standards about the owner, Erin. Erin is delightful and smart and so hard working...and people get to know that if they get to know her. She has a dry sense of humor and if she's working the front desk, it's due to a staffing need. No one gives male bosses a hard time when they are all business, just sayin'. Third, this staff is some of the most dedicated and loving staff I've ever met. They love their jobs and working at Coddled Critters. They are friendly and clearly have a deep affection for my dog. They've gone above and beyond for me several times. They know Argo's routine and needs as well - sometimes better - than I do. I adore the kennel and training staff. I have limited experience with the groomers but whenever I've added a bath to the end of a boarding stay, Argo was shiny, clean, and gorgeous! The value of Coddled Critters, specifically what you get for your money, is amazing. I can't say enough good things about Erin, Tiffany, Leslie, Chelsea and all the staff. IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET DON'T SEND THEM HERE. I would recommend taking your pets ANYWHERE other than Coddled Critters. We previously stopped boarding our dog there because of the poor customer service. But this past weekend our normal sitter was out of town and after trying a few other places decided Coddled Critters would be fine for one more time. IT WAS NOT FINE. Our dog came back to us severely dehydrated and when we fed him, acted like he hadn't eaten all weekend (his "report card" said he licked his bowl clean at every meal? So I don't know how much they were feeding him). It took almost 3 days of close attention and care to get him back to his normal self. He could BARELY WALK when we brought him home and looked significantly skinnier. He's an energetic 3 year old lab and was acting like/looked like he was 14. I realize there are a lot of other positive reviews but if you care about your animal even slightly, I wouldn't risk it, even if you're desperate for a place. In addition, the $55 bath we payed for was a joke, he smells worse than when we took him in. Considering calling the Humane Society to report the neglect. We have had our dog and cat here to board a few times. The staff is very nice and my dog loves it here, but I don't love the price! We moved here recently and our previous boarding was much cheaper. This place charges you more for a larger dog than a small one. Which is fine for grooming, but do you really need to charge by the square foot when you are located in a warehouse?! I took my cat here over a year ago. It wasn't a pleasant experience. At the time I was relieved they had a cat cam or said they did. It rarely worked. I think the time at their facility traumatized my cat. I think she suffers from PTSD now. She howls whenever we are out of her sight now. I should have known the second we walked in the door, it wasn't going to be a good experience. When I walked in I never got acknowledged, I waited longer than I should have too. The whole time all you can hear and smell are dogs. My poor cat. They really should have a separate entrance for cat customers. I assume my cat was kept in a crate the whole time with little to no interaction. When I expressed my displeasure they didn't seem to care. No follow up. I expected a phone call- nothing. He has been battling breast cancer for several years, and even when he has surgery and needs 2weeks of constant supervision (he can get out of a cone like a bandit!) they are so loving and accommodating. read more

We have been bringing our dog here for a couple of years, but each time I swear it will be the last because of the owner/manager. Her customer service skills are lacking. She is always short, never friendly, and doesn't speak when you walk in the door. She is the same way with her employees also- never a please or thank you, just the demand and can't be bothered to smile or ask politely. It's too bad because we like the facility and love that our dog gets to run free. It's always uncomfortable at pick up or drop off if the owner is there. The prices and fees seem to steadily increase each time we visit, and there's often a mistake on our bill that I have to call and get refunded for. I hope these things can improve because the facility itself is great- it's just the face-to-face contact that's awkward. read more

Pet boarding at Coddled Critters is probably the most traumatizing experience my dog has ever gone through. My friends and I went to pick him all excited as he would run to us, instead he stunk of urine and had shit (literal dog shit) stuck on his coat. Beyond that, he was crying and was so eager to leave the place. Having the webcam was of no use as there was only one on one side of the wall it covered footage of and did not cover a whole half side of the building. We have spent thousands of dollars at Coddled Critters, for day care, training, and grooming. We considered them a part of our extended family. We were enthusiastic patrons until we decided to board our two Airedales for a long anticipated cruise in the Caribbean. We prepared diligently and had all paperwork and emergency contact updated, and since they had exceeded are expectations in the past, we were confident they would take care of our babies. Shortly, after we had boarded the ship and where preparing to leave, Erin the owner called to inform us that our oldest dog was attacked by a Bull Mastiff and needed medical attention and that we needed to take him. We're in Florida offshore and she didn't call our emergency contact. We had to make arrangements to have him picked up and taken to emergency vet care since this was on Sunday. What a great way to start a cruise. Needless to say, we felt betrayed and unappreciated. We love Tiffany, she actually is what a great customer service is all about. To bad Erin has no understanding of what that means. I wouldn't recommend this business to anyone, not if you value your furry friends. We'll go to Animal Clinic instead. read more
