We left our three dogs here for 4 days of boarding and were greeted by distressed dogs who had upper respiratory infections starting. All are up to date on all vaccinations and went in healthy and happy and had to be treated with antibiotics. One was on walks only and the other two were supposed to play with each other only so the infection was airborne or on surfaces I'm guessing. Two dogs lost several pounds each (55lbs dogs that came out at 50 and 52). The place smelled strongly of disinfectant but still appeared quite dirty in the entry and playroom we could see through the window. I know boarding a dog is stressful and runs the risk of them getting sick, but this was the first time I've seen my dogs visibly upset and sick. I would look for other options if I were you. read more

The kennels were stacked on top of each other, dogs were crying, my dog was crying, it smelled foul, the staff was extremely rude, and only let the dogs out 5 times a day. I brought my dog to preppy pet because I trusted she would be ok. The first time I left her for puppy play time I came home and she had explosive diarrhea all over my house for days. She got so sick I took her to the vet for 200 dollars. I called to let preppy pet know and they told me that it was nerves. I understand dogs miss their owners so she could have been nervous. Then this last time I brought her I come home on Saturday and my dog is coughing so bad and not breathing well. I call the emergency vet and she tells me she has kennel cough to watch her very closely which I did and I brought her into my primary vet the following day sure enough she had kennel cough. I was very upset. Then when the owner and I finally talked I explained that she was very sick and that I had a 300 vet bill. He told me that it happens and that sorry the dog is sick but most likely sick because MY DOGS immune system isn't good. My dog was very healthy coming into preppy pet now she is extremely sick. Do not bring your pets here. The only thing I asked the owner for is the daycare fee back it was two days so about 60 bucks he refused to reimburse me for that but he would give me a discount when my dog comes back. I told him I would not be bringing her back so no refund. If you care for your animals don't bring them here. read more

Wonderful place! Took my dog last month and we loved it ! They were very friendly with boarding and explaining the whole process. We also decided on this place because we used to take our dog to a kennel called Paws and Claws but had a pretty awful experience there. This place is very nice and the people are friendly and the prices are good We've been putting our young dog in doggy daycare because we have a baby that was born prematurely and is in the NICU down in Nashville. This way he gets some additional social interaction that we are unable to provide at the moment. The reason I'm giving a one star review is because this past week our dog Baxter has contracted a strain of Kennel Cough from Preppy Pet that his Bordetella vaccine is not effective against. This has now infected our senior dog who we do not take to daycare, resulting in additional vet bills, care and time away from our daughter in the NICU. Given that Kennel Cough is a form of whooping cough, this possibly could put our preemie, with a compromised immune system at risk because there is evidence to support that in rare cases, the virus can, very rarely but possibly, be transmitted to humans with a compromised immune system. read more

My dog Raffi LOVES Preppy Pet, and so do I. She goes there on a regular basis for daycare, and because of the second home she has found at Preppy Pet, I was able to board her for our first vacation in many years. Raffi has separation anxiety, but she has never exhibited it when I leave her with Dana and Jody, the wonderful people that own Preppy Pet. They are such kind, caring people, and it is obvious that they only employ people who also love pets. She is groomed there once per week, and they take the time necessary to give her a bath with the special shampoo that I use on her. We were taking a trip for fall break and were having a hard time finding a place that still had room. I am so glad that the original places we planned on booking had no room because I would never have found this gem. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. I was able to take a tour with my dog before we booked. When I dropped him off, my dog had no issues being left. He was wagging his tail and excited to be greeted by the staff. I have left my dog only one other time for a week in another state. When I picked him up, he was just not himself for a few days. This was not the case during his trip to Preppy Pet. He was his happy self and even hugged on one of the owners before we left. It was a relief because I just worry when leaving him. I definitely feel comfortable leaving my dog in their care again. read more

They were great when they first opened but not now. She tries to over extend herself. My dog is usually 2-3 hours late, being finished. My sons long hair dachshund was being groomed this week, when she clipped his scrotum with her shears and now he may have to be neutered. She claims that she didn't notice but as large a piece of skin that is missing from him, would have clogged her trimmer. PLEASE go elsewhere for your grooming needs. Update: I was wrong. It was just a nick at the time of grooming but the dog kept licking it for 3 days causing the sore to enlarge. They offered to pay for a vet. Vet says he will be fine, has a collar. read more

We have just moved to the Hendersonville area and our Max needed a bath desperately, I called hoping they could fit him without any previous appointment. The owners were very accommodating and took him with no problems. Max was smelling great and even got his nails clipped! Prices were amazing and all of the staff were so friendly and courteous.
